It’s a pointless cup for me.
Maxwell Turtton lees ruffles Sorensen Hogg iorpenda Kane Headley
Ward ladapo
Rest the rest of them and fill the bench with kids.
We have enough injuries and shouldn’t risk it.

I’d be very tempted to go similar to be honest.I’d even rest Sorensen if we had someone even half suitable. He’s been out of form but started to get back towards been something like and we’ve had so many injuries I wouldn’t be risking him either as he doesn’t need minutes. Also wardy at this point not sure if he’s fit enough to start but I’d be going with the young lad who played at Doncaster again sod it.

Mickey mouse trophy
It just gets in the way of the league season and potentially gets a player injured
Definitely a game to utilise the whole squad

I remember this as well. Just looked and we played them at home in the League on Tue 12th Sept and won 3-0. Week later it was second round first leg of league cup and won 2-0. Fortnight later it was second leg at Oakwell and lost 4-0. I went to all three games for some reason. Can’t remember the goals!!! Thanks for the correction. Think I've worked out where I'd gone wrong, that same season later on we played Leicester and Wolves in the same week, both games I thought we'd struggle in as we were newly promoted and those two were tipped for promotion. We beat Leicester 3-1 and Wolves 2-1. That first season after the Bristol Rovers play-off win was one of my favourites in my younger days, before the Premier League adventure and subsequent shit-show disillusioned me! Remember those games very well. That was one of my favourite seasons too. My first as a season ticket holder. Home form was unbelievable, away form terrible. Really likeable squad of players, Town bloodying many noses and silencing those massive away followings behind the goal. Ran out of steam in the end but a great introduction(for me) to life in the second tier of English football. Shame that season 96/97 was ruined by injuries.

It inspired a great unbeaten run in the league that saw us jump from the wrong end of the table to finish 12th... and gave us a springboard to hit the ground running the following season.

The redeeming feature of these games is the opportunity to see a few of the younger B-Team lads getting an opportunity alongside senior pros.
Had they not both picked up knocks the week before, Omari Mrisho and Luke Daley would probably have been in contention as wing backs at Doncaster - Mrisho in particular on the right - not sure if he's back fit or not though.
Different competition, but the most fluent half of football we've produced this season came against Morecambe with Kane and Iorpenda in the middle.

It really kick started a bit of a renaissance for the club in 1994 did getting to the final that year, what with the move to the new stadium too. I was at the Stockport game in the semi final when we were expected to get battered, they had beaten us 5-0 a few weeks earlier, but we pulled off a great performance to win 1 nil with a goal from Iain Dunn.

Chapman
Lees Pearson lonwijk
Sorenson Kane Iorpenda Wiles Miller
Bojan Ladapo
I am all for giving the young ones game time. But as I mentioned earlier in the thread, the previous 2 Cup games killed all momentum with the constant swapping and changing.
We have a 10 day rest before Bristol after this game, so let go for the win and hopefully a goal for Bojan and Ladapo

[ And because Seeing HTAFC at Wembley is on my bucket list ! 😬 Why didn't you go in 2022 Westie? PS I'd save the bucket list for a "proper" match. It will happen again, just not sure in which league.

Play the 3rd team. Neither side will give a toss. Tbf I think the Barnsley manager did say after the game Saturday that it’s now a chance for some players to stake their claim with the ones who’ve been playing being quite of of form. A fee if our lot have found some form now but theirs plenty who needs minutes so wants to be changes!!

Caught The Covid for the first ever time then Andy... Wasn’t quite on death’s door with it but it was nasty and I couldn’t even go to pub to watch game as would’ve probably spread it... Missed a good chunk of The 2022 Islay Whisky Featival of Music and Malt as well 😢 Probably caught it at first open day or Angus Ferguson’s Funeral the day before (we do plenty hugging and kissing of women over whisky, sherry and oatcakes and cheese at Nerabus Cemetery here on The Whisky Isle)... It’s a centuries old tradition over here - (No wonder the presbyteries on Lewis and Harris call us ‘The Pegan’s Island) ! 😬 I hope we get automatic promotion from League 1 as Champions as that’d complete the full set ! 🥇🏆

I have a feeling Healey will play in this game, Duff said last week that he was back training. Would like to see a Healey Bojan partnership.
Kane Iorpenda and Heaey will play

Micky Mouse Trophy, Donald Duck Trophy, or Dora The Explorer Trophy - if it’s a senior professional game that Huddersfield Town are playing in I want them to win and win well.
I keep saying it, there’s so much loser mentality around the place and even in the fans. People saying it’s a waste of time, a distraction or whatever else…it’s a professional tournament with a trophy at the end of it, one we should have a very good chance of winning.
We have a squad, and a B team, and youth below that. Some players need minutes, others building fitness after injury, younger ones looking to break through - now is the time to play them.
Whatever team we play though they need to be sent out with an objective to batter the opposition and go for the trophy.

Kane Iorpenda and Heaey will play I think he said Rhys had trained once (same with Ward). No mention in today's presser as I recall. IMHO I doubt Healey will play as he's had maybe 4 training days at best. Maybe one or both might make the bench.

I get the negativity towards this cup and personally have no desire to go and watch it in person but I will watch on Sky.
As a club we need momentum in a squad that's mainly used to losing games so surely have to try (especially with no weekend fixture) and win this and try and progress as far as possible in the competition.
The recent history suggests that teams that do well in this cup also do well in the league (last 4 seasons 2 finalists have also been promoted and 4 other finalists made the PO's)

I don't know anyone who is going to this game there just is no interest in it. Against my better judgement I'm going, though a tenner still seems steep for what will essentially be a <1,500 crowd. An opportunity missed to make it a fiver and kids for a £1.

Looking on the site map now there’s hardly any seats taken so far.

What in god's name has that got to do with fielding a weak team (like everyone else does!) in this alleged competition? It's done for a positive reason, not a negative one and that's to help reduce the number of games (& hence injuries) that the first team squad have to play. It's a joke of a competition which has nothing going for it, only risk of yet more injuries. Back in 1994 there was the novelty of the first Wembley appearance in 56 years, but even that doesn't apply now given we've been back 5 times since. Play the likes of Kane, Bojan & Ladapo etc for part of the game in accordance with their fitness regimes, but hardly anyone else from the main match day squad.
