Well it's very subjective isnt it. I watched one recently and was thinking 'Really?? This is truly dreadful!' Groundbreaking at the time maybe but IMO it's not aged well in the way something like Father Ted has. Big fan of Rik Mayal and somehow ended up watching a stage version of Bottom with him and Ade Edmondsen whilst pissed one night over Xmas. I never watched it the first time round and let's just say I hadn't missed anything! Maybe hilarious if you're a 12 year old boy! Middle aged men and women in the audience guffawing though so it takes all sorts I suppose! Maybe just of it's time or a bit niche, bit like Mrs browns boys! Fkn sacrilege mate, Bottom is brilliant. Still watch the DVD box set, usually straight after I've watched Young Ones. Although tbf I DO have the mentality of a teenage boy according to previous girlfriends Now Mrs Brown's Boys on the other hand, can't say I've laughed once watching that, but my mam and dad absolutely love it

Based on your review I'll try the TV version one day! Lord Flashheart will always be my favourite though!

Blackadder was just total genius, gonna have to dig out the DVDs and watch again, it's been a few years. Edit: Mayall, Edmondson and Planer did another series, Filthy Rich & Catflap, although that wasn't as good as Young Ones OR Bottom IMO

The one problem for me is Iorpenda, I still say he should have gone on loan, not because he's not good enough for our squad now but he's behind Hogg, Evans, Wiles, Kasumu & Hodge in the pecking order. With 6 outfield players on the bench, 2 of them defenders, 2 forwrads, thats only room for 5 midfielders, 3 starters, 2 on the bench, unless there's an injury Iorpenda will just not get enough game time. We made this mistake with Etienne Camara. Never let him go out on loan. kept him training with the first team, with the promise of games, but then never gave him games. So he got pissed off, refused to sign a new contract and we had to sell him, having not seen anywhere enough of him. Hopefully we don't make the same mistake with Tom. The lad will definitely be getting frustrated at the lack of game time

It's weird to think he justifiably kept Carel Eiting out of the side for a while. Impressive ability from Carlos to get that out of him. O'Brien did all the donkey work to make Russell look good. Indeed he did, along with Hogg, but Russell was very much worth his place for his passing, his physical presence (especially in both boxes) and a couple of excellent and important goals. Clearly he was only good when he had a team built around him. Didn't Luton change their way of playing in the play-offs to counter Russell in particular and Carlos, fearing Forest doing the same, left him out of the starting XI at Wembley? Danny Schofield in his first game thought it a good idea to have Russell and Hogg trying to press Burnley high up the pitch - about as far away from a continuity appointment as you could get, I wondered if he'd ever seen Carlos's team play - and he should have been sacked at half-time for it. And then someone from Barnsley signed Russell.
