Could be argued that Alan Gowling was on his way down (suffered two relegations) when he joined Town from Man U.
Then had a big upward swing; Newcastle and Bolton

Remember that corner routine with Phillips, think it worked in two successive home games. Going to be honest here...i cant remember it, what was unique about the corner routine? Phillips loitering outside the D, seemingly not going to be involved. Outswinging corner to the edge of the area, which Phillips struck at goal on the volley.

Frank Stapleton. Mel Eaves (loan). Kevin Phillips - ohh hang on... A good shout on Stapleton. He wasn't here for long but was excellent. Shame the Bradford City job came up when it did. I agree, shame it was only a few games. Pretty sure I saw him play for us away at West Brom. He looked absolute class even though he was at the end of his career. Amazing first touch and had a yard on everyone else. Either that or my memory really is playing tricks on me.

Don’t forget Peter ndlovu! Not bad for Town. One of the biggest disappointments ever not actually signing PN. What a player Forest away. Full house. 3-1 with him Tearing them apart That we're a fucking banging performance from Town that night, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. The guy ran the show single handedly that night.

Either that or my memory really is playing tricks on me. We only managed to get him because of Eoin Hand, he was doing Hand a favour no doubt. I remember we had the examiner delivered at home, when it was worth reading, and I always went to the back page first. I said to me dad we've signed Frank Stapleton and he went 'whaaaat', he then proceeded to tell what a great player he was, he also told me we were going to get promoted when we signed Andy May and Mark Barham but we all know what happened that season. And if Lee's still on here I'd be interested to read your Andy May interview from the Bristol Rovers programme mate.

Barry Horne was a success IMO. Barry Horne came in and was class for us . Am I remembering correctly that a certain thuggish centre half in a Bradford shirt crashed into him in the penalty area at the north stand end in a night game and more or less ended his playing career?

Strangely I read this, then almost straight away came across a podcast with Mark Ward. Don't remember much about his time with us, though.
David Phillips was really good for us. A great long passer of the ball and a terrific shot on him. Barry Horne was brilliant, him and Phillips were absolutely inspired freebies.

Horne was a class act until that big useless lump Moore fucked him up.

Alan Gowling was fantastic, Peter Eastoe and Rod Belfitt were great signings.Keith Edwards was a good finisher and Terry Curran was the best winger at Town I've ever seen, could single handedly win a game on his own. David Cork from Arsenal was class, he did nowt after leaving Town.

Joey Jones Barry Horne Leon Knight - the best ever finisher I've ever seen in a town shirt. Any one on one with the keeper you were always confident he'd score. Fair to say his career never went anywhere after town

Was it an evening game in a bit of snow? Remember ndluv and gallen scoring, me and a friend's dad walked through a really rough part of Nottingham from where we'd parked

Remember ndluv and gallen scoring, me and a friend's dad walked through a really rough part of Nottingham from where we'd parked It was mid december, think it was re-arranged. Took my old girl, we set off as soon as i got home form work, but literally walked into the ground as the ref blew his whistle. We'd dumped the car in a right dodgy area, was thinking it would be on bricks when we got back to it. Think Gallen scored twice

Fair to say his career never went anywhere after town Should have had a very good career. Certainly had the talent. If he'd put as much effort into his career as he did into showing everyone how much of a bell end he could be on Twitter he might have fulfilled his potential.

I saw him away at Stoke City, which we won 2-0 and he dominated that game.

Hopefully this willl be a link to the report from Danny Gee's website (but possibly only the home page - if so go to the report season 2000/01). A lot of Forest supporters and BBC Nottingham reporters were ***** even back then but a lot of DATM didn't realise it. link
