Bugger, Bolton have beaten Fleetwood in stoppage time to kill off the chance of all 16 kids teams being knocked out at the group stage. Instead, Aston Villa will be the sole U21 team in the last 32. The last 32 is seeded and regionalised, so we will play one of the following in the next round: Stockport Wrexham Morecambe Bolton Blackpool Chesterfield Rotherham/Bradford Not very regionalised with sheep shaggers from another country in it

Well it wasn't pretty but to be fair they hardly had a kick in the final third all game.
Wiles gets some stick on here, & he does go missing to be fair in some games but where would we be without his goals & assists this season? Another goal & 3 assists tonight.
Job done.

I'm sure Buendia and Ross Barkley got some game time earlier this season

Looked iffy first 15/20 until Kasumu replaced iorpenda. He decided he was going to wallop a few and rightly so as they’d been very snappy in the tackle up to that point. We grew into the game and second half was one way traffic really.it should be in fairness. Someone mentioned wiles good again and goes missing in some games. The ones he tends to go missing in are the ones when we can’t get him the ball in the right areas. We don’t have the issue generally when herbie Kane is on the pitch, classy again tonight he was though again caveat the level of the opponent.Something iv noticed with Kane too is he’s most definitely an organiser, constantly pointing to others where to be on and off the ball, duff also has mentioned before he’s one of the best players tactically he’s ever worked with. Miller very iffy for him tonight,Bojan poor again, thought Healey was largely poor but got his goal. The midfield won us the game, great strike and assists from wiles,Kasumu everywhere and Kane made it tick. Won 5 drawn 2 lost 1 in the last 8,Tamworth was awful but the form is improving,UTT

Yet again Wiles shows his value to this team. 6 goals and 4 assists now from midfield and we’re only in mid November. Still doesn’t stop his detractors having a go though. The evidence of that is all over this match thread and has been going on all season really.
Pathetic really. A genuine match winner and first name on the team sheet for me.

To be fair, second half was better, and we were by far the better team, created pretty much all of the chances. Wiles man of the match. People complain about him, and while he isnt perfect (none of them are) he has goals in him and he has assists in him, and in League 1 with our strike force, we would be struggling without his goals/assists.
The referee was absolutely dreadful. Was he like an academy pick, seeing as though we allow u21 teams in this comp, do the refs have a similar thing, where they try out for the day. I mean, I could go through plenty of decisions including the absolute stone wall one on Miller, that he was literally a few yards from and looking straight at. However you look at the foul on Healey in the first half, breaks away, is on the half way line breaking into their half, gets dragged back, almost rugby tackled, most blatant yellow card you will ever see. Just a free kick. Second half, Kane tugs back one of their players breaking, but this time the Man Utd lad is just outside his OWN penalty area. Straight away look at the ref, pulls out a yellow card for Kane. Can anyone explain the difference there, apart from Healey was 40 yards further forward. You cant treat opposing teams like that, and have a different level for what yellow cards are. Is anyone watching these referees and asking these questions?

To be fair it was a decent win in the end. It was men against boys (mostly), but that did mean that they put pressure on the man with the ball all game.
I think we were helped by having Kasumu on the pitch instead of Iorpenda. Iorpenda may have more skill and may end up being the better player, but the robustness of Kasumu helped tonight. Healey played well, but Radulovic was awful. As soon as Ward replaced him we looked more threatening. I'd be offloading Radulovic in January by any means possible. Even Harratt or Hudlin couldn't be less effective, so we've nothing to lose in letting him go!
Special mention to the ref for a shocking performance. Quite how Miller gets booked for handball when he fell on the ball after being hacked down in the penalty area, I've no idea. Also, the Man Utd team appeared to be treated as though they were schoolboys playing a friendly match. The number of late kicks on Town players and holding on to shirts that were just allowed to go unpunished. But as soon as Town did something similar the ref quite rightly blew his whistle for a free-kick. The number of times the centre half kicked Healey in the first half was ridiculous.

Totally dominated second half. Two good penalty shouts not given and we missed some great chances but still won easily.
Some of the comments on here in the first half were shameful.
