Good player in this division and useful squad player in the Championship.

Seems strange if we’re intending to ever play at a higher level. He’s one of the ones who proved incapable of playing in the Championship.

I quite like the guy and good look to him. Despite only being a difficult challenge from being injured with his injury record he always gets stuck in and gives 100#.

Maybe Kasmu will be our Sam Morsy - late developer ?

He shines when in a midfield where he can give the ball to players with some creation. We've been lacking at that over his time with us. But with Kane I think he has a good partner in there currently.

We've looked better when he's been in the team

Concerning if this is the standard.
Til 2027, Is it April 1?!
On what basis does he deserve an extension, wage reduction?
Not good enough for the championship year after year
Hes a decent squad player at this level no more than that - I’ve still not recovered from one of the worst midfield performances I’ve seen v Tamworth - he’s had his usual handful of good games we usually see in the autumn…hopefully we get to see more.

If we’re looking at keeping the likes of Kasumu on long term deals it flies in the face of trying to go up and then consolidate / kick on from there. Apart from run round a lot what does he actually do well ? Passing generally poor, doesn’t score many and hasn’t got a great injury record. He’s not particularly stood out this season for me, Hodge is a far better option as a holding midfielder and looked a long way short of a decent Championship midfielder.
I’d have offered him another year at most.

I hope Hodge comes back and does well but I suspect we're building him up to be something he isn't

We’ve looked a more balanced team since he’s come in - and fair play to him for putting the yards in - in fact a glance at his stats this season show that we are unbeaten this season when he has played 90mins this season. But let’s not let facts get in the way of a few who want to have a good cry at a player getting a new contract!

We’re a pretty shite, 3rd tier side. The next Bryan Robson sure ain’t signing for us!
We need to build a team. Kasumu is fine, until he gets the ball. Let him chase, hack and tackle until he gets it…then find a player who can take it off his toes and unleash some magic.
Good midfields are units, not individuals. Imagine Bullock & Marsden together? Hogg was immense when Mooy took it off his toes. Scholes needed Butt. Cantona needed Keane. Gazza needed Ince.
Calm the fuck down.

Kasumu was one of the only players who didn’t throw the towel in the towel.
He’s a defensive midfielder - no defensive midfielder is going to keep you up single handily. There is nothing more he could have done to keep us up last year.
He may be limited by his passing ability but he gives 100% every time he plays and literally runs until his body gives way.
He’s never going to standout, but equally he is always going to give a consistently solid performance.
Judging by some of the reaction on here, it’s like town have given Tom Edwards a deal!

I'm pretty happy with this. We know exactly what we're getting and I think he's improving as time goes by. We have a Hogg love in here sometimes and I reckon he's in the same mould but with the scope to be better.

Gave me a bit of a mixed reaction this. He is a good player for this division but I wouldn’t like to think he is our player in 2027 in the championship as he’s proven he’s not at that level.

Win-win.
He’s looked decent this year, so if we do happen to go up, we could always move him on and get a fee, at least for another three years!
Agree with the above though, he looks almost like a modern day Hoggy type when he has a creative player alongside him.

Few good games and he gets a new contract. In my opinion, not good enough for where we want to be.

Been our best centre midfielder this year. His energy is vital as there is no one else, literally no one else in our entire midfield squad who has any energy.

Certainly good enough for League 1.
Squad player at Championship level - and it's all about building a squad
Duff is a big fan and says he's a fantastic professional
25 years of age
Approaching 200 game
what's not to like really

It's just a shame he's had to wait until his sixth permanent HTAFC manager to get a run of games in the role we bought him for in the first place...

Fans want to be back in the championship asap, the owner wants a stadium, but first team aim's appear to be somewhat unknown, based on the transfer activity todate.

Him and Miller have been the only likeable players so far this season, that being said I'm in agreement that an extension til '27 does seem a tad over.

For me, one of the main reasons for the upturn in form around October was Kasumu’s return to fitness and the first team. He has his failings, but nobody else in the squad has his energy and drive to do the dirty work. He’s been prepared to play anywhere - to his own detriment at times - but we finally seem to have got him in to his best role. He’s played well this season. One of few with bite.
Two years might seem a long extension, but at his age, with his contract up in summer, it was essential if we wanted to tie him down.

Two years might seem a long extension, but at his age, with his contract up in summer, it was essential if we wanted to tie him down. Tend to agree.2 years does seem long but how many players want to sign a year extension really. We could let him go in the summer but like a few have pointed out he’s looked good enough for this level and if we were to go up he’s a capable squad player filling in for a suspension or coming on for a last 20 etc. I know it was only Man Utd u21’s but in that game the young lads were putting in some pretty tasty challenges on our lot and regularly. One of Kasumus first moments on coming on was to put in a big tackle of his own,I think the young lad maybe even had to go off.He won’t be bullied which is something we need in this side.We could arguably do with a couple more with that bite. Yes his passing is poor but like has been pointed out by a few if he’s a Kane to give it to it’s fine. He’s also decent on the turn in tight spaces with a little drop of the shoulder, turn and pace to get away. He won’t be on big money and it makes sense in building a squad sense. No need to get overly excited nor get up in arms about it.

His workrate can’t be faulted and he’s decent enough at this level, but it’s disappointing he’s not improved the other aspects of his game since arriving and probably wouldn’t be in demand from any clubs in the division above (where we hope to be sooner rather than later). If he keeps free of injury and suspension, he’s definitely an asset in L1 but no higher unless he can improve on his weak areas.
