I went to watch most of the second half of this on saturday and it was a good spectacle. It was a lot more physical than I thought it would be, and we had some really tall lads playing, particularly in defence. Leeds had most of the territory and played some good stuff, but we were 2-1 up so I suppose the onus was on them to attack. We were absolutely devastating on the break, could have had another at the death when Charles put one into the side netting after skinning his man. I'm not gonna comment much on individual performances as I probably only saw them for half an hour but bojaj looked good, took his goal really well, had a good first touch and laid it off well. He's tall (as is Charles, which i wasn't expecting), I didn't get a chance to see his aerial ability but he's got the potential to make a good target man. As in the Stead type of target man rather than a big lump. That's good to hear! It's great to have some strong attacking players coming through, because hitting teams on the break isn't the first team's strongest point. And of course Jake Charles is tall. It runs in the family.

1 0 full time. Kids are on fire at the moment. Some decent brum players played today, Ambrose for one, so a good win that

Charles scored 2 and laid the 3rd on a plate for Booty. Sounds like the real deal.

Anyone that goes to the games... What sort of standard of opposition are we facing? All sounds really positive do far, hopefully a few more can follow Holmes over the next few years. Billing and Charles in particular.

I go quite regularly, if they gave fan points for attendance I might have enough for a Town pencil case.
The u18s are a decent team, with the emphasis on team. They play some decent stuff but aren't afraid to use 'direct' balls to Bojaj and Charles, both of whom battle well for the ball both in the air and on the deck. Charles really does have a look of Jon Stead about him. Not as well built as Bojaj but isn't a pushover by any means. Billing pulls the strings in the middle, but he tires quite badly. Someone said he had quite a few months waiting for a permit to play so that might be a part of it. The two centre halves win the ball very well and very cleanly in the air, something the Leeds lads could have learnt last Saturday. The 'keeper seems confident and distributes the ball well, similar to the first team reluctant to kick unless he has to.
They have a few flat points in games, but tend to grab breakaway goals when they are in the shit and once they've got the upper hand they keep on coming. The sign of a decent team I'd say.

"We'll score when we want, we'll score when we waaaant. We're Huddersfield Town Youth and Development (incorporating the U18's and U21's), we'll score when we want"
Catchy.

They also seem quite well versed in respecting the officials. Both Leeds and Brighton over the last couple of weeks have certainly been more like modern first teamers, yelping when tackled, niggling and questioning the ref. Very little of that from Town. Think the set up from top to bottom at Town is superb. Not only are they playing the right way they seem to be bringing through decent adults too. They are proving you don't need a team of nasty bastards that are all 6ft+ to win these sort of games.
Credit has to go to Mark Lillis and everybody involved, it's great to see.

First time we've had a youth thread stickied and they go into rinse mode.
Coincidence?
Aye probably...

Particularly enjoyed the 40 year old man sat behind me yesterday berating Holmes in the first half after PC fed him a couple of hospital passes. He's an 18 year old kid you utter codpiece. How sad does your life have to be that you get a kick out of vocally abusing a child.

Philip Billing.
I know there has been a lot of talk about him but does anyone know of any timescale when we can expect to see him move up to the Developments? I don't get chance to get over and see them and I know a lot of you guys do.

I'm not sure about Billing but Jake Charles took part in the 1st team warm-up & match day experience yesterday.

Was looking to see if I could find the Robins interview on the official You Tube channel and found highlights from the U-21 game against Brum the other day. They seem to have slipped it out with no fanfare, it's only had 77 views!
Looks liked we played some good stuff on a very blustery day - Carr did really well and could have had a hat-trick. Also the right back looked decent from a few little clips, anyone know who that would have been?

Possibly Tom smith as he can fill in at cb or rb, good player!!! Yeah that could be him, sounds like he's got half a chance of making it here as by all accounts he did well at Hull in the Cup.

Lost 2-1 with Wednesday scoring the winner in 2nd half injury time. Sinnott scored for Town. Out of the Development League Cup for this season.

Went to the game at Bury today. Second time I have seen 21's this season. First time was also against Wednesday (4-1 win at home). Carr has scored a lot of goals this season but there is something just not there with him. He seems to lack game intelligence and struggles to really get hold of the ball and bring other men into the game. Maybe that will come with experience. Overall was quite disappointed with the game. After a good start Town just retreated into their shell. Sinnott and Holmes played in odd bursts here and there but neither could really influence the game. Wednesday were on top but the game changed for town when Mullin came on with about half an hour to go. He made intelligent runs and seemed to find space where there was none before and created three chances for others and one for himself. This seemed to spark Sinnott and Holmes into life too and Town looked the most likely winners the longer the game went on. That was until Wednesday scored! Anybody know where Crooks is?

Although we played some good football in spells I was surprised at how lightweight we looked in comparison to SheffW. First time I’ve seen the development side in a competitive match and although I wasn’t disheartened I think there’s still a fair bit of ‘developing’ to do. Great goal from edge of the box by Sinnott; horrendous miss by Holmes. Gerrard and Clayts showed a good attitude while most promising were keeper Ed W and Holmes (if only he’d raise his head more often to see what’s going on around him.) Dan Carr could make it too - good eye for goal but needs to quickly learn more about general forward play. Sweeping statements by someone who’s just seen one game, I know - but less biased than on the official site. Scouts please look out for some brawn.

I'd be more concerned with brawn and no talent at U21 and in particular U18 level, than having talent, but lacking brawn. One will likely come with age, whereas the other probably won't.
