Only 12,810 Town fans there today for a Yorkshire Derby. Not the best turn out in the world. Are the prices putting people off or are people just finding it boring watching Town this season?

That is just how many of us there are.
That is a very good turnout all things considered.
It will no doubt be our gate figure though, so the attendance would have been well short of that.

Its the price. can't be the football because its so much better to watch than previous seasons.
Our crowds are very loyal and consistant. Other clubs get a big increase when they go up a division but we haven't. In some ways its good- that by and large we have a firm fanbase who stick with it whatever. But its also disappointing more can't get behind the progress the clubs making. Think we're something like the 18th best supported in the division. Which makes these claims that we SHOULD be challenging up near the top even more crazy.
Its like we were in L1 so long fans have been brainwashed into thinking we're one of the big fish. Well at this level we're far from it. And thats before you think about half the division getting huge parachute payments aswell!

We got more for this fixture in L1 when it was on sky as well. 25 quid is a lot of money imo.

This is why we need to get behind this home end nick. Give it a chance and back it. Let's try recreate an atmosphere like it once was in the cowshed even if it's only recreate a little bit. Unless we try we don't know, results recently isn't ideal but we can't turn our backs on the players, we must support them. I hope to see you in the home end on sat'day!

Home atmosphere is mainly poor due to the sideways/backwards passing routine we have become accustomed to of late. Yes it has us playing ok football but lack of goals is killing us

It was a choice of Weds or Barnsley for me. The 15 quid deal sealed it. Watching Town no longer offers value for money for me, and loyalty has its limits.

I thought the prices at the match yesterday were very reasonable. We, as Wednesdayites, normally get shafted with premium prices up and down the country, as we generally sell quite a few. Admittedly, the prices at Hillsborough are on the steep side, but I was impressed with Huddersfield for setting prices as they did.

The best thing to watch yesterday was that numbnuts getting evicted from the South Stand, and then his girlfriend running after him in tears, quite amusing really. Did you not hear the boo's at half time Captain, some of the town faithful obviously not sharing your opinion of it being highly entertaining. Incidentally, I know a lad who's been to a few games this season to give it a go with his young boy. After the Charlton cup tie he said that was him for this season, that he'd seen enough and probably wouldn't bother other than the odd attractive match next season. I agree we can put on an entertaining show from time to time, but it's not frequent enough to start luring new supporters down to the ground.

Ok then, let's try get 7-8k instead and sit in silence. All i am saying is that crowds at Leeds Rd were low and didn't improve until we moved, which is true, i can remember standing on a sub 6,000 crowd there, we have probably hit our peak now with crowds, (i didn't say owt about atmos!!) like i say asses from elbows!!

The size of our fan base is the reason that we will only ever progress slowly and steadily. DH is never going to do a QPR and risk everything. It's a fact of life that we've got to live with. I wouldn't want him to gamble with the clubs existence anyway.
If we ever do get to the Prem it will be frustrating as fook to see the ground full with folk that didn't give a toss before.

£25 is a lot of money to most people, and the product in recent weeks has been pretty woeful at best. If I didn't have a season ticket I would have thought long and hard about going.
In fact even with a season ticket I'm not massively arsed about going next week.

Price, the fact our season will peter out to lower/midtable and inconsistency.
Those calling the football boring probably love to shout GERRIT FORRARD every 2 mins.

hopefully all the youngsters going now with dads will continue and we may get a few hundreds more floaters. the football we played last 2 home games would not attract folk.

To be honest , the lack of atmosphere kills it for me...12,810.?..that's be about 11,000 in attendance...for Sheffield Wednesday ?
I don't like the stadium, it's too open, and being all seater stops like minded fans gathering together...I'm sure if Town were playing attractive winning football that would boost attendances, but it's the only thing that will. Too many moaning gits too...wherever you sit (and I've moved around a bit) there's always the moaners, the sandwich/flask brigade and the blanket on the knees lot... The stadium design is shit, I hope they pull it down and build a proper stadium..
ps. I'm not a moaning git....

Spot on there galpharmer You can come up with all the excuses, price, entertainment , last time out we were crap. Blah blah blah. But yesterday we had about 12500 home fans (and that is based on the 'gate' rather than attendance) for a championship yorkshire derby. We will always be lower/mid table with this sort of turnout unless. A. More folk turn up through the gate B. we get a lucky break of 3 or 4 superstars coming through the academy. And if we continue to be mid table, then you get days like yesterday and the home game before. It's called mid table mediocrity. Supporters ( those that turn up and those that don't ) all stating Fact this and Fact that. What do you expect? Automatic promotion? Realign expectations please

Sounds like your mate would have prefered us to stay in League 1 where we could win nearly every week. If we aren't winning there always be a few divots who will boo the team off. How we've played doesn't really come into it. Ive seen us be utterly shite, barely able to string a pass together and looking like we couldn't give a toss for the 1st 44 minutes of a game, but if we fluke one in off our backside a minute before the break , the team will go in to a huge cheer and round of applause.

No doubt the prices are high, but even if we charged a lot less I doubt many extra would turn up. Fans these days want to see their team challenging for promotion not happy to be just a mid table side, ( not a dig) just how I see it!

Maybe melc. There's a general apathy towards HTFC in this town I suppose. Don't know why it is but guess its a result of decade after decade of not a lot to cheer about. There again, if you look back through history, the crowds we get now aren't that bad at all. Double what i remember us getting in this division back in the 80s. Even when we were a top side they weren't better, other than in the immediate post war years when everyone got huge gates. Itll take a year or two in the prem to bring a new band of Town supporters out of the woodwork. Get as many of them hooked as we can, so that when we're back where we are now we're getting 16 or 17000 home fans rather than the 11 or 12 we always get. the fans are out there- look how many we took to old Trafford. but it'll take prem football to snare them properly. On the positive side, we must be a MASSIVE club really, because after last weekend our home average crowd is now EVEN BIGGER THAN SADFORDS!!!! Town average- 14402 sadford average- 14383

This is why st sales are vital - pay on the gate is virtually non existent now. If bradford can only shift what they have after a wembley finale and promotion season combined with dirt cheap prices, they might as well pack up.
