We are more balanced with coady & Hogg defensive Butterfield a box to box player and majewski and Holmes offering varying attacking midfield options.
Where/who is the elusive centre back we so badly need tho?

Where/who is the elusive centre back we so badly need tho? Look at the number of good centre halves out there who were playing league one or below only a few years ago. There are plenty around, it's just up to Wilson and his team to identify them

After watching our midfield yesterday Norwood can go. The future was on the pitch yesterday.

After watching our midfield yesterday Norwood can go. The future was on the pitch yesterday. Have to agree. I think Coady has the look and potential to become a crucial player for Town; he seems to be a natural anchorman, but also has the ability and strength to burst forwards occasionally. Hogg looked better as well with Coady behind him and even played one or two decent passes! Butterfield had a good debut, can deliver a decent corner and will get goals, I'm sure of that. However, when Town signed Majewski I was concerned that he was physically lightweight and so far, I've been proven right, and he's been substituted twice. Maybe if and when Town have a more effective partner for Wells up front (dare we dream that it will be Vaughan?) then Majewski will come into his own. I hope so, because he's certainly got ability. I like Norwood, but he's going to have to raise his game, otherwise he'll struggle to get back in the team.

the only way you can have a player on the pitch who thinks he is too good to be playing for you is if its actually true..
in norwoods case he might well be fooling himself but its not working on anyone else..
even a move to reading will be his idea of a move to get the 'big move'.. he will always try to do just enough to get noticed..
if he does not move he needs someone here running the team who will give him a kick up the arse..
there is something there but time isn't on ours or his side to start producing more, more regularly..

Another footballing decision being made without a manager. I'm assuming the decision is being made on the fact that he has only a year left on his contract and there is doubt over whether he would be offered a new deal. What if a new manager comes in and has him in the form of his life?

This might make some sense of why we signed 3 midfield players when we desperately needed a striker and 2 X CB's. If Peltier was supposed to be Peter Clarke's replacement, we made a balls up of that one.

As is customary on these type of threads can I be the first to offer my services to drive him there myself if there's any truth in this. Can be a decent player on his day, sadly there aren't enough of these days.

Unless we're having a poll as part of the interview?!

Surely there is no way Reading would pay 1.25 for Norwood. To put it in perspective, we paid a similar amount for Wells. At that money, for a player a lackadaisical as Norwood we have to sell. Norwood has some strengths: good technically, good passer (usually) and will chip in with a few goals from distance. He is a luxury player – if he is playing in a good team and afforded time and space he is okay. We can do better and already have better options in the squad imo.

He can go for me. I just don't get him. He's a lightweight. You can have all the technical ability in the world but if you keep giving the ball away you're no use to anybody. One good game in five is not a good ratio. We'd be having their pants down at 1.25m

There is some nonsense on here sometimes. The lad is 23 and has an abundance of talent. Talent we haven't been able to get out of him regularly. Down to fact the team has played shite and there hasn't been real competition for places. Coady, Butterfield, Hogg, Norwood fighting for midfield spots should make them all raise their game. Polish will be gone at the end of season and is a 10 rather than a CM and I'm sorry but Holmes is not good enough. Billing may come good but I think he's a year away yet. So instead of letting these players go be brilliant for someone else, let's get the right man in and make them brilliant for us. This isn't Champ Manager where you can sign a whole new team every season. Yes he's frustrating but i for one enjoy watching him play.

What if a new manager comes in and has him in the form of his life? A manager can't do everything. It's real life, not a game of football manager. There are so many people who work for the club that we don't see. I'm sure several people are consulted in making these kinds of decisions, including Lillis/Eyre/Thompson and it'll be a business decision as much as a footballing one just as it was with Clayton.

I really hope this is true, £1.25m is a ridiculous amount of money for a player who has been below average for us

Few people saying Man Utd will have a sell on fee, didn't we sign him on a free when his Man Utd contract expired? If we use to money to finally sort out the defence then I'd be happy be see him go

Loads of talent, no desire to use it. He even admitted himself he was poor in his first season and he's barely made any progress from the form he showed then.
If he can up his game then he's an asset that's worth more to us than one and a quarter million, but if he can't then you simply would not turn that amount of cash down.
Honestly, I rarely notice him in games and we simply cannot be carrying players for a set piece ability that might produce a couple of goals a season.
