We sign replacements & crucially try to balance the books. Looks like more great business to me. I consider myself a customer and would prefer to hang on to some of the outgoing squad members If wells Hogg and Vaughan are allowed to leave I think we may struggle to replace them adequately My preference would be to build a substantial squad rather than do what some see a great business Still 2-0 at Reading at HT sounds positive UTT We always replace them & always will. Bad business will see us not being able to strengthen the squad in future transfer windows & then we would have something to worry about.

Anything over a million for this pansy is great business. I used to rate him but seems to have lost the will to put the work/effort in, in recent times. Showed great promise when he first arrived.

Where it been said he refused a new deal? Only thing I saw on this was he questioned why he had not been offered one and town basically said 'earn one'

Just noticed this comment from Adkins on the Sporting Life site...
....Huddersfield midfielder Oliver Norwood has been linked with Reading and did not feature at the Madejski.
"He didn't play for them tonight," Adkins said. "So maybe there's something in the offing. We'll wait and see what happens."
Good luck to you Oliver. All the best.

Rumours that Reading have made a £1.25 mill bid for him, may explain why he wasn't involved yesterday. Thoughts? Mr Hoyle was talking to Norwood before the match at Reading and might have been asking him for his bus fare.

Well done, youve picked out 5 out of how many signings over the last 5/6 years.... Plus hunt was academy not a signing which is what I'm getting at Well no you seem to be making the point our club/training methods make players go backwards...the ones i've listed prove otherwise. Makes no difference if hunt is from the academy or not, he improved here so obviously wasnt "canalsided"..whatever the fuck that means. Yes we've signed a lot of players over the last few years, but bringing in about 15million quid in sales probably makes our net spend for transfers over those years look absolutely brilliant in comparison to most teams at our level. Laughable that you're trying to make out that Reading have "scouts and coaching team can spot something and ultimately train them accordingly" considering a) they probably spent as much last summer as we have in the last few years combined and b) we just beat that 'accordingly' scouted/coached team

tonight was there first defeat - Norwood may just help bring some consistency in that regard (I'll get me coat)
TBF - contract 1 year left and unless we suffer major midfield injuries then to be honest I do not think that there is not one on this Board or the RossinatorBoard that would pick him to start right now and others may leave him off the bench too
so best all round FOR HIM get a good deal elsewhere/ us a bit of coin ~ maybe hima a three year contract and just maybe he could be soon also scoring against Cody and Chelsea (stranger things could happen)

He is a good midfielder and talented. But he's not a strong midfielder and that's what we needed.
In a team where he can be the flair player or carried by the stronger members he will be fantastic.
I wish him luck but we looked far more balanced and solid without him.

Maybe it's me getting old but I just can't tackle a full portion of fish and chips these days. Niether could Norwood cant seem to tackle owt really would probably remove all the batter and just eat half the fish

We are going to end up like clayton said again
He knew he was playing every week so didn't have to push himself.
This will happen to butts, coady and Hogg if we don't have players pushing them for their place.

If Norwood goes and a new manager is appointed soon, I wouldn't be surprised if we brought in another midfielder - perhaps on loan.

Some actually thrive on the consistency of being picked week in/week out, others become complacent/blasé, lets see how we go with the current ones first before tagging them as "comfy coasters".

This will happen to butts, coady and Hogg if we don't have players pushing them for their place. Our budget doesn't give us the luxury of having a Norwood as back up. We need the academy lads to push the first teamers, which is why bunn's performance last night was a real shot in the arm.

Personally I can't stand Norwood. And if selling him is the only way that I don't have to witness another one of his corners then I'm fine with that!

So let's say Butterfield and Coady are our starters in the centre of the park, who would you prefer as back up Norwood or Gobern/Hogg?

Fans do know we were £5m short of breaking even last season
We are not solvent but propped up by Dean Hoyle
This customer argument ... would people complain if we started paying the same ticket prices as Leeds United "customers"
I would love to have 22 Championship quality players but we can't afford such a luxury unless we find 10k more season ticket holders and/or up ticket prices
Over £1m for Norwood - a fringe player - is excellent business

Norwood doesn't want to sign a new contract. Do we keep a player for the season who will have very little impact on where we end up and leave for nothing in June or do we flog him for a tidy sum? Not exactly a hard decision is it What is wrong with these prima donnas?! I'm not sure what they have done to be justifying moves away to 'bigger clubs'.

3-4 very good games per calendar year, the rest of the time it is easy to forget he is playing. Over a million/profit for that represents good business to me.
