When you opt to go in the South Stand, you are choosing to go in a noisy area where many will stand and flags which will impede views from time to time are accepted. This may not be the case in the Riverside Lower. Get a message out there to bring scarves Derby have sold out so we need to be in good voice at the home of the thrice champions.

It might be to do with blocking the view from the hospitality boxes. Additionally, when you opt to go in the South Stand, you are choosing to go in a noisy area where many will stand and flags are accepted. I'm not saying I agree with the decision, by the way. Get a message out there to bring scarves Derby have sold out so we need to be in good voice at the home of the thrice champions. Your the main man though Tog, you have influence. Hope it's sorted before the scum arrive.

Every team that brings a good following to us stands all ruddy game, gets away with all sorts and yet again our own lads and lasses who have made a positive non confrontational impact on the atmosphere via nsl are told thanks but no thanks. Its no wonder some have just decided ive had enough and arent coming anymore....... Not a slight at you tog, just a dig at the lack of common sense applied in our own ground!

Very poor form this. I feel an explanation is needed as to why this decision has been made. Very disappointing.

I'm afraid no common sense in the world anymore, the horrendous crimes and drug problems and gangs in the greater hudds area and our pathetic safety team ban bloody great flags.

The Heritage suite clients will be spending close to £2500 or more tog, I can understand how the restriction on waving flags has come about, knowing how things work within the club - personally I don't see it as a massive issue, I'd hope we can come to some agreement for the Leeds game but it depends on how the club now react. Obviously the decision was made yesterday at the events panel meeting and it hasn't given us any time to ask to renegotiate. I'll be doing my best to come up with a compromise prior to the Leeds game though, our flags and banners are something to be proud of and the chance to showcase it all live on SKY is an opportunity that shouldn't be missed by either the fans or the club.

Pretty much sums up the modern game: the diehard fans can't take banners as they'll obstruct the view from the corporate boxes.
Again, whenever the club ask why the atmosphere is diabolical and the fans aren't fully immersed behind the club this is the answer. All that balls about us being the 12th man goes out of the window if some business twats want a day out.
Come on Town fans, get behind your team and make the atmosphere something special!*
*we may give your seat to an away fan and please don't upset our special guests we sell boxes to. Price fluctuates hugely. Ridiculous booking fees apply. Please don't be daft enough to turn up on the day or we will fleece you. Feel free to have banners and posters made (although these are not allowed inside the stadium). You buy the tickets, we'll buy the players (or loan some in instead). Your integrity is at risk if you do not keep up regular visits.

Easy answer if it is just a case of blocking the view from exec boxes is no flags on back half dozen rows or so.

Look lads and lasses; my views on here are my own and mine only. I do not sit on/have any input into the Safety Panel/Events Panel. I have not been to the ground since Tuesday 11pm post MK Dons. Indeed the only contact I've had is my expected emails from the Commercial Dept and from Boothy re my running order in the WRC and at PPG Canalside. The flags issue probably won't be anything to do with the boxes -it was just my thoughts. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE EVERYTHING I POST AS FROM THE CLUB OR SOMETHING I HAVE FOUND OUT- I CAN ASSURE YOU IT ISN'T. If I know something to be fact, I keep it to myself -something I probably need to do with my own views given the way this thread has gone!!

It was my own personal opinion and may well be utter bollards.

Can't think of any other rational explanation. It's annoying though, especially as I'm in the process of organising a fundraising night at PPG Canalside that'll raise funds for the academy and see about £2500 going over the bar, if not more. Our money as fans is just as good as anybody else's. As I say, we NEED a resolution for the Leeds game. It'll be busy in our section with the ticket offer and a massive shame if we can't put on a cracking display.

By the way Tog, I know you are not implying that the reason for the flag restriction is due to the potential impaired view of the box holders. ;-)

Your integrity is at risk if you do not keep up regular visits. The flags wouldn't block the view surely? When I've been in South Stand, I tend to go half way / three quarters of way up, and the flags being waved in the bottom third come no way close to blocking my view of the action. It'll be even better in Riverside SURELY since the stand is steeper, so LESS likely to obstruct view. Think there's another reason than "upsetting corporates", and I think I know what it is. Look... People with fat heads block more of the action, and the flags go down when the game is in play...

Or alternately we could go about this like adults, make our feelings known on a formal level and not chuck toys out the pram. Talk about chopping your nose off... (their minds) I don't think the NSL have thrown the toys out of the pram, I think the statement was just informing people so they don't ask questions when there's no flags and banners and quite possibly no atmosphere today. It was a perfectly honest statement that summed up our feelings, it wasn't intended to have a dig at the club. I hope everyone is still up for it and brings a , ' your if you love the town'.

It's just symptomatic of treatment of fans in general. It was easier when we were herded like cattle, caged in and generally regarded as scum. At least we knew where we stood, could afford to go and knew what to expect. All clubs do now is pay lip service to the fans in order to maximise revenue from them. Not a dig at just Town, all clubs do it and it stinks.
