Yes it's true
We had word today from the 'events panel' at the club that we are not allowed any flags in the Riverside Lower while we are based there. There has been no consultation with us and this has come out of the blue. We had plans for tomorrow and these have now had to ve cancelled.
We released a statement on Social Media which is below:
We're disappointed by the recent, last minute news given to us by the safety and events teams this afternoon (clarification: not solely the work of HTAFC by any means).
They have stated that flags 'cannot be used used in the Revell Ward or Britannia Rescue stands'. This news is not what we were expecting - we expected to carry the South Stand vibe across to the Riverside. We as a group and fan base are disappointed by this decision and feel that our hard work, dedication and personal investment of time and money over the last 18 months has hit another stumbling block, which we deem to be unnecessary.
Although it is only a temporary move to the Riverside and the lack of flags may seem like a trivial matter to some, some of our biggest and toughest home games will be played with us in there and this is the time when the players need our support the most, both visually and vocally.
We're working to rectify this decision with the club and hope that they will reassess this situation; or at the least form a compromise for the upcoming home games.
Cheers, NSL
If anyone feels this is ridiculous we would urge you to contact the club to let them know. Supporter power has gone a long way this season with regards to tickets prices and extra charges on the gate,so it really can work.
Hopefully the ban will be lifted and we go ahead with the planned display for the Leeds match.

What a joke, they use pictures of our flags to sell tickets for the game then don't let us use flags.

Why couldn't the safety panel make the fans aware of this at the start of the season? They knew full well the supporters would be forced to relocate & this problem would arise, so why they choose the eve of first 'relocation game' to announce it?
Not being allowed to take a flag into the ground is just pathetic, especially as they have fire certificates anyway!
Fucking jobsworths!

They better sort it for the weeds cup final.
It gives the players a massive boost and we all love to see it, I'm no youngster but think it looks great. Come on Tog and Clibbens sort it out.

Something to do with views of other supporters, which is bs because we'd keep the flags on the front row anyhow.

What I don't get that this is an issue in the other stands but not in the South Stand, why?

Ah well, hopefully we'll still be able to do our display vs leeds. Flags aren't everything but they're a big part of what we do. Might have to go old school.

usual faceless jobsworths...getting the chance to show what power they have ? Does nothing for the attempts to get things going at the ground, crowds are dwindling but these faceless desk drivers still want to have their mindless input. Delayed long enough so they won't have to face the music all week about it, typical cowardly arseholes and not even prepared to discuss it first... Just go and f*ck off !
Take your scarves then, as said above...

Piss poor. Those that them have been very considerate of those behind them all season. They seem to want to make the rules up as they along.

When the club sit down to ask why crowds are so poor and falling this is exactly the kind of answer they should find. The lack of consistency across match day price, experience and regulations is an absolute shambles.
Whoever is in charge of all aspects of match day policy needs to give their head a shake.

So Town asked you which stand you would like to transfer to (preferably en masse), Let you all swap, And then only tell you 18 hours before the game that the flags and parafinalia will be a no no ? Strange.
We certainly have people at the club pulling in different directions.
I went in the south stand again v MK and to be honest if the stand did not exist I would probably have given the MK game a miss. But I went cos I do like the atmosphere it brings.
Who is the one that has made the final decision to poopoo the flags ?
Surely the club could have just insisted the flags etc were to only be used in the first block to start with, And then check if it was a pain in the ass for the season ticket holders who pay top dollar to sit in the centre blocks ?
Please don't tell its Mr Robinsons call ?

Doubt this is the club. More like Robinson and his Stazi.

I know it goes against what we are trying to do, but if they want us to get behind the team over the next three games all we have to do is not sing or show our support it may just change there minds.

Or alternately we could go about this like adults, make our feelings known on a formal level and not chuck toys out the pram.
Talk about chopping your nose off...

I agree that the NSL should continue communicating with the "events panel" but it`s a totally baffling decision, surely making the same allowances in the different stand on a trial basis would have been a more sensible approach and if there are any complaints from incumbent ST holders THEN deal with the issue. Banning flags on the basis of hypothetical complaints is symptomatic of an overzealous health and safety officer. I am hopeful that common sense will prevail in the longer term. Here in Canada they have been handing out rally towels in the MLB playoffs for 50k fans to to create a better atmopsphere
