I don't recall him ever saying he got us promoted. I remember him saying he would have got us promoted, an entirely different thing. Whether he would or not that season is something we will never know for sure, we can guess of course. Well it's bollocks anyway. He may have done (but I doubt it). Like you say we'll never know but how did he know? Perhaps he was confident he would. Perhaps he BELIEVED.I have just seen the Examiner article where he alleged he took Town to the Championship. Stupid thing to say, doing his already bad reputation no favours. Apologies jimbowen.

At least we can follow them now as interest with Clarky. Why would we want to follow him or them, Nick? Why don’t we follow Stan Ternent or Chris Powell or Mark Robins or any number of ex-Town managers who won exactly the same as Clark did? (That would be nothing, by the way...)

He is still spouting utter tripe, delusional and I quote from the great man himself “It’s not about money. Football to me is not about that and never has been. “Trust me on that one. There have been some huge offers put to me to work overseas. I’m talking ten times the salary. To me this is about more than that. A few of the Spanish Giants obviously made a bid for him but he thought, Nah ill bide my time, wait for the phone to ring and earn 10 times less and go to the national league. He obviously forget he said this in an earlier interview 3 months prior “I’m not frightened of working abroad and if the right opportunity came along, I’d seriously think about it,” Also...... “There’s a real misconception about me that I have been sacked from my five jobs,” he said. “It’s just not true. I quit one, was head-hunted at another and not many managers could do something in the situation Birmingham City were in. And to finish "If I’d kept away from Blackpool and Birmingham, who knows what my next job might have been?” Yeah alright, Lee !!!

Gary Rowett did a pretty good job of turning things around immediately after Clark got sacked so that's bollocks.

To be fair he probably did get offers worth 10x the income, Blyth are hardly going to be big spenders...and he played for a club in an era that grants him access to jobs in India, China and the USA. I’m pretty sure I’d read he’d been wanted as part of a team to coach at a Ligue 1 club a couple of years ago. He always said his biggest regret as a player was that he didn’t take up a couple of overseas opportunities that were presented to him, so I’m pretty sure when/if the right offers come, we’ll see him make that move...why do we insist on ridiculing a man who is obviously prepared to put the hard work in and take jobs to build his experience rather than sit around moaning and self entitled expecting a top job like a lot of ex players from his era.

I would imagine he’s taken the job due to a sagging bank balance rather than a desire to “build his experience”. He already has the experience, unfortunately he has shown that he is not all that good at being a manager. He is ridiculed for his insistence that actually he was a very good manager and none of the failures were down to him. As for the finish "If I’d kept away from Blackpool and Birmingham, who knows what my next job might have been?”. Maybe he should have been more honest and said “If I hadn’t been an abject failure at Blackpool and Birmingham, who knows what my next job might have been?”. Actually, I don’t know why I’m replying to this at all, as this is the most pointless thread on this board and I’m helping to perpetuate it!😊 Lee Clark...who honestly gives a f... where his next job is?

The obsession is strong with this one Youve some Leeds, Lee Clark and Liverpool obsession. You like the L word. Its tedious and boring now, we get you would blow him off but the guy wasnt a legend at all. He won the square root of fuck all with a superior budget to mostly all teams in the league, lost the plot at the end too. Legend would be Herbert Chapman as a manager, players like Andy Booth, dont be a tool and pretend he was good, he was dog wank

This thread started with Clarky on the verge of taking the Kilmarnock job.
Since then, just over three years of.....well, you couldn't really describe it as 'success'.
Blyth.....keeps popping up on "Vera".

He wont last the end of the season, ego or shit results or both will be the end. Then hopefully he will piss off to Thailand or Bhutan and Nick can stop spraffing on here. Unless he starts translating The Daily Thaigraph paper with his updates on results and how he is getting on.

Apart from scraping to keep Birmingham up, when they shouldnt have been down there in the first place. He put them there with a worst start in 25 years. So he has never had any magic, hes shite and inept

An unbeaten run that ended when we lost in the final, no matter how its painted up. Brink of promotion, basically failing with the biggest budget, not playing your top scorer in the final and losing the plot. What has he won anywhere? Where has he not been sacked? Decent player, shit manager, but you can keep on being delusional as thats your normal day duty.

He also says he is always courteous when speaking to people. That's not my memory of him on Radio Leeds. He was terrible in interviews with Radio Leeds, embarrassing. In fact that's why I went off him as much as his arrogance and abject failure to get us out of a shit division.
