Yeah but you don't to a game for all this kind of shite, you go to watch a football match. I couldn't care less whether the beers shite, the pies are shite, the queues are too long. Are people for real on this shite? Seriously? Is this this the most important thing for Nagle to sort out? This is where American sporting culture is at odds with European sporting culture, especially football. If folk are going to games to eat a pie and sup 5 pints, they've got too much brass abd by the way I aren't tight are owt but it beggars belief what folk consume at football games.

Correct, he would need to invest that to offset any gains, before any financial tax year, which ends April. So maybe just maybe the timing did work out, and it just so coincidentally had to happen within 10 days due to administration for town, and new tax year here in the US. So he could show a "loss" to prevent capital gains on assets acquisition etc. I know first hand scenarios like this with pre ipo investments that then went public etc. 


I, for one like many others excited about Kevin and co taking over. What I can vouch for is Americans are unbelievable and creating a strong work culture, entrepreneurship wise, a decade or so ahead of Europe in terms of mentality, knowledge, skillset, work ethic etc.

Professional qualified people for roles that require good knowledge, experience and qualifications. Previously, I felt many important roles were given to one of the boys etc, that kept us being mediocre.

Our club hasn't been ran sustainably because we've ran it like a charity (this will be sure to upset people, so putting on my tin hat). Understandably, were a working class club, but if were wanting to compete and not solely rely on just owner investment and player sales something needs to give slightly. Have to crack a few eggs to make an omelette, so to speak.

We have arguably one of the lowest costs season tickets for the football league. Yet, we've not really created a good enough stream of income through merchandise, revenue through catering etc.
Something America is unbelievable at. On current trend we can't compete.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a slight price increase on ST's prices on 24/25 season, or more revenue avenues streams on a match day, through concerts, through merchandise, through sponsorship, streaming, catering etc.

I remember having dinner with a previous baseball club owner and he referenced the mid 90s think it was 94/95 ish. The baseball players went on strike and half the games of the season were cancelled, there was no World Series for the first time in nearly a 100 years.

It was to do with player salaries increasing and putting the franchises at risk financially. Anyway, long story short year or so after the franchises (clubs) tried to create higher demand, higher income streams. They went on to give good ticket prices, but increased and developed concessions streams that effectively kept the clubs profitable. I remember him breaking it down, and it made sense, so much sense.

It's a lot to go through, but bare with me.

I'll use town an example. As estimates.

Stadium capacity: 24,000 (and some loose change).

For example: let's say 22,500 fans weekly average. (12.5k of which are ST holders all paying say $300 ((GBP), using American laptop) = 3,750,000 over the season.

Leaves remaining 10k.

2,500 Away supports (pay on the day) say we charge $25 (GBP) = 62,500 per home game from away supporters X 23 home games = $1,437,500 )Over season).

7,500 pay on the day home fans x $20 = 150,000 per game X 23 home games = 3,450,000 over the season).

3,750,000 + 1,437,500 + 3,450,000 = $8,637,500 in generate income through ticket sales per season alone.

Minus match day costs, catering (vendors), police, stewards, staff.
Minus player salaries, full time employees (club staff, coaches, groundsman etc).

We'd be at minus already.
So, we solely then would rely on say concessions, sponsorships, endorsements etc. We'd need to try and raise $30-40 spend from fans per game (merch, catering etc) = $30 spend x 22,500 =. $675,000 per game = $15,250,000

So, more income is generated through concessions, and merch. a new revenue stream? Streaming, coverage etc.

That's 1 snippet as to why id be enthused with Kevin and co taking over, sport/franchises are profit based here. Americans know how to run sports clubs. 
It'll be a breakeven/minus loss first year, the stability year, then expect a few changes, if were wanting to compete. It'll be hard for us as Yorkshiremen and women, because were tighter than a nun, but worth it, if we collectively buy in.
