Some of this is getting embarrassing. Yes, Newcastle employed a fair bit of gamesmanship. Gamesmanship is not desperation, it's a common tactic used to frustrate the opposition. I don't like it, it's against the spirit of the game imo but until the authorities clamp down on it, it's a valid tactic. Rafa past his best? Maybe (not definitely), but his best got him the jobs at Real, Inter etc al in the first place and it's not that long ago that he was there. Some of this makes us look very churlish. I had an issue with saying the penalties evened themselves out and that everything was down to the messiah like Benitez. Do agree though, it's gone a bit far now.

The chances of a decent straight ref are somewhere between zero and non.
It's gone beyond a joke.

For me we are the best team, However what is funny, For a club as massive as Newcastle it was widely reported before during & after our match that this weeks fixtures for Newcastle were potentially the biggest stumbling block in them been promoted. Fancy that little old Huddersfield, just goes to show that we're not so little & how far we have come UTT

The Newcastle threads need locking now. As galling as that result was we are in danger of turning a bit Garry Monk over it all.

Yeah. Just like the team, we need to put it to bed and move on.
6 points behind 2nd ( 7 in reality with the GD ) but with a game in hand.
That is VERY do-able.
First thing we need to do is get back to winning and secure our play off place though.

Plus Brighton are displaying some serious bottle potential at the moment, plus they've just had Shane Duffy put out for (at least) 6 weeks with a broken foot. And Lewis Dunk is 3 yellows away from a 3 match ban. They are looking very light in defence.

Huddersfield are " without doubt " the only team in the championship who can play football as its meant to be played.
Then it comes down to cutting out the errors which applies to the referees.

I'm sure "NickBright's" has already suggested on there that Adam Virgo "could still do a job for them" (Let's face it he'd be no great loss to the in depth expert analysis on CH5)

Lack of humility? It's Garry bloody Monk isn't it! Gary Monk tried to make out his team were the better side aswell. He was talking shit too. This guys been camped out on here for days and whilst he pretending to be straight and honest, its turned out hes just the usual billy big bollocks we usually get. He just writes better than most. "benitez's tactics worked"-- what a crock of shit. The tactics of being gifted goals by mistakes whilst hanging on. Of playing on the counter by hoofing it away down field. The prick can't even see the reason they couldn't do anything else was because of how WE played. "Benitez is the best manager in this division by miles" another crock of shit. How many of us would swap Wagner for benitez? Fucking none! And why, because benitez wouldn;'t do anywhere near as well here as wagner is.. because he doesn't have tens of millions to splash around on a massive squad on prem wages. theres a few managers in this division who are doing better jobs at their clubs than benitez would manage. About time he bored off. Hes like their version of acetripper, spouting shite on other clubs boards. You're a waste of space, I didn't come on here to insult anybody and have said what I honestly think at all times whether that was for or against my team but I'll reply to your garbage. You simply know nothing about football, at best you know very little. Benitez got his tactics right and they did work, the scoreline proves that he did, it was 1-3 and we went away with the points. We did capitalise on mistakes and I haven't said that we didn't, I believe that once we scored our tactics were to let you come on to us and our players were well coached in what to do in that situation. I suggest that you go and look at what his former Liverpool players say about him to educate yourself on him as a manager and how he coaches players and how to play in all situations. You are all bigging up how you had most of the possession and were unlucky, did you say that same when you won at our place when we had 65% possession? Were you gutted when Mbemba was clearly pushed by Kasey Palmer in the build up to your second goal? I doubt it, I bet it was good tactics by your manager. You seem unable to understand that the game went the way that it did because we were in front, I expect that if we'd gone behind like we did at Brighton then the game would have been totally different and we would have come out and tried to get at you. Rafa won the Champion League in his first season with Liverpool and he did that having spent 16 million, he also added the FA Cup and UEFA Super Cup at a time when Abramovich was throwing money around like monopoly money . He spent next to nothing at Valencia and won 2 Spanish titles and the UEFA Cup. At Chelsea he spent nothing and won them the UEFA Cup. He also lucked his way to winning the UEFA Manager of the year twice, nothing to do with him or his tactics, just luck. I think you've got your head on the wrong way round. Most people on here seem sound, you, you're clueless.

No one on here would choose him ahead of wagner. he wouldn't have done anything like what wagner has managed with us. Don't give a shit what hes done in the past. In the present hes managing in the 2nd tier and on top because his club can spend a fucking fortune. big wow. Fuck off you tedious prick.

Playing like Newcastle works as long as they don't concede first. Its a huge gamble they took in a one off game. You'll win more games by controlling the ball then sitting on the counter.
The games and comments on the games I've read suggest Huds issue is not having a 25 mill striker-simple really..

If anyone is still in any doubt I suggest they watch the match again from start to finish. Make no mistake Newcastle got battered, only luck stopped us winning even after their two gifts. Created plenty.

I'm truly amazed that some Town fans are prepared to accept defeat as if it is somehow the big thing to do, and to suggest that Newcastle were the better side because they defended well. This is nonsense.
The Toon were poor. They were cynical, and it would appear that they would have been happy with a point. They defended well for sure, but this was largely because the ref afforded them the luxury of a two goal lead, after which they parked the bus. Their third was a fluke. How would the game have gone had we gone one nil up?
How East missed the hand ball and the dive for the pen, not to mention the Colback foul shortly before both, is difficult to fathom. He then let the foul on Ward go (Law 12 thread).
OK. We need to work on our free kicks, and our pen was soft, but all the same. It leaves a bad taste after the FA decided to charge Town for Monk's shoulder barge. Colback described the chasing pack as an irritation. It is almost as if the FA think the same.

Come on, obviously the worlds greatest tactician (he once won the CL you know!) would have changed everything round and they'd have overwhelmed us to claim victory anyway. Have you learned nothing from this thread?
