West Ham and Palace are an agents dream. Especially West Ham, if a player is linked with them enough times in the paper then Gold and Sullivan will convince themselves it’s a good idea. Not sure on what basis you think we're an "agents dream"? We're not exactly running with a huge budget that we can afford to throw millions away on agent fees to get players in, and Parish is notoriously difficult to deal with - as the time taken to tie up deals invariably shows. He's also shown he's not afraid to back away from a deal if there's something not right, as shown with Niasse last summer who was in our offices to sign, and didn't end up doing so (despite the fact we only had one fit striker at the time).
West Ham's transfer strategy does strike me as odd at times, but saw a rumour on Twitter today that Lanzini is off to Liverpool for £50m, and therefore you could see them signing Shaqiri as a good move, especially banking the difference in the fees for other transfers.

Talks of what might happen if in the Championship, but that is history now. possibly back to Anderlecht at some point in the future with his previous manager who he likes. Thinks he has little chance of going to the World Cup so not thinking of it.

Talks of what might happen if in the Championship, but that is history now. possibly back to Anderlecht at some point in the future with his previous manager who he likes. Thinks he has little chance of going to the World Cup so not thinking of it. The English adventure of Laurent Depoitre could not start better after a disaster season at Porto. First base place, first goal. "It was a great moment to score immediately on my debut", said the 29-year-old striker at Play Sports. "I proved that I am in my place in the Premier League. Then there was the hit against Manchester United that gave us the victory in our own home. The atmosphere was incredible, that's a great memory. " Yet the balance looks eight months after his first performance. Five goals in 32 matches and Depoitre who in the past weeks especially with a substitute role to satisfy. In addition, with a sixteenth place, Huddersfield still has to fight hard to stay in the highest football division. "Nevertheless, we think that the next three matches (against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal, ed.) One victory must be sufficient to maintain us. Maybe even one point. It will not be easy, but everything is possible in football. " EPA Reunification? Does Depoitre see an adventure in a lower class - the Championship -? "I certainly could play, but it also depends on what happens during the transfer market. I am still under contract here, but it can go fast. Anderlecht? Yes, why not. Hein Vanhaezebrouck is the trainer who taught me the most and among whom I have made a lot of progress. Thanks to him, I am standing where I am now. It would certainly be nice to work together again. The World Cup? "I have not had any contact with Roberto Martínez since my selection in November. I can not look into the heads of the national coach, but I think there is a small chance. But I will not hope so that I can not be disappointed. We'll see. "But first the job against Manchester City in the fight against relegation, later at 2.30pm.

I doubt Chelsea will be daft enough to loan RLC out again when he is obviously far better than Bakayoko.
Chelsea are hopeless at promoting their youth to the first team. Apparently they have 38 players currently out on loan!
Town already have a good relationship with Chelsea, a few tentative enquiries including RLC couldn't hurt.

RLC would be a fantastic addition, but one would think Palace would also be sniffing for him

Me too, I would love to see Marco van Ginkel play for Town. He's just had a storming season at PSV, he was made club captain despite being on loan, and chipped in with 16 goals from midfield. He's a fan favourite at PSV, I think he would fit right in at Town.

Well - we can all stop guessing. We know DW likes to get his transfer business done early and the transfer window officially opens this coming Thursday (17th May) so we'll have sold and bought all the players we want to offload and bring in by the end of next week and we can all then give our detailed analysis and expert opinions and have the starting lineup picked a few hours later for the opening game of the new season 😉

I say that because you’re paying Benteke about £120k a week by all accounts so your wage structure is set from there. Agent’s dream is more like West Ham, but you’re still an agent’s holiday romance, type of club 😉 If those reports on Benteke aren’t true then apologies

However, I would argue against that being how our wage structure is set, as everyone knows the financial limitations clubs like ours are forced to operate in, and that we cannot afford to pay that sort of money to more than what would be considered an elite few - although after the season he has had, I am not sure calling Benteke "elite" is really appropriate!
Since promotion we have actually been relatively sensible with our signings, probably with the one exception of January 2017 (when Allardyce was in charge, shock horror), and know that we cannot sign big names on big wages left, right and centre. That's why, when we were in a mess in January with one striker and one keeper, we signed a Norwegian unknown and a Brazilian free agent (along with the most bizarre loan in the history of the Premier League - look up Erdal Rakip if you get bored).
Parish is also in a similar vein to Simon Jordan (not sure that's generally a good thing) in his view on agents, and so often refuses to get caught up in any of their silly, money-making games.
Anyway, we'll see as the summer unfolds. I'm not expecting us to spend big money on any one player, as we need to do quite a bit of restructuring with the number of players leaving and others getting older, so we'll need to spread what funds we have over quite a few deals.

Also, if people do have that view of us as a club, maybe that's why all our deals take so frigging long, as other clubs ad players think we have a far higher budget than we actually do. Every transfer seems to take forever to complete, and usually end up struggling to get them done before the deadline!

Clueless numpty, Maddison is destined for the top he'd adapt very well into our team like Pritchard has, Did you think we'd end up in the championship after we signed Pritchard because he wasn't premiership class, what about Kongolo he's never played in the premier league was he not premier league class?

Chaps - the separate thread created to deal with the frankly ridiculous squabbling that followed has been locked and moved to quarantine. I suggest you all calm down a little - we're on day 4 of the off season, ffs - it will be a long summer if we all fall out over minor shite like this.

Having watched Maddison a few times his skill and attitude is first class. His allround game awareness needs to improve which it will and like Pritchard he now would be a very good adition. Twelve months ago he wasn't ready . He is now. Can we get him? there will be plenty competion

I suspect we will have competition if we have genuine interest, hopefully Pritchard will be on the phone getting in his ear

The gap between the top Championship and lower Premiership is huge...as proved by Sabiri, Malone, Ince and even Pritchard. Maddison's another short arse midfielder who'll probably struggle if he moves up a league.

Be nice if we could get Maddison and one other good attacking option. Raphinha has had a great season in Portugal and has been linked to Sporting, would be worth a call to his agent to see if there are second thoughts after this weeks events. 15 goals and 5 assists.

Certainly better than what we had in that position...but what we had was pretty crap to be honest and I doubt Pritchard would automatically start in many Premiership teams (as enthusiastic as he is there hasn't been much result in the goals for department).

Not for the want of Pritchard setting up the chances - ie Ince on Sunday. Maddison is a terrific player. He is not a short arse but he is not a power house either. I don't think he would give the right balance for Town.

Ok it was just one game but i think he will be too costly for trying a punt. Surely we can pick up a decent player with less risk.

all this talk of short arses is from the dark ages. If you're good enough you're big enough. Ask Xavi, Iniesta, Scholes, Maradona, Sterling, Ardiles. Mahrez is 5'8''. Payet even smaller. Every time I want to end the lsit I think of another good short footballer....
Alexis Sanchez...
Joe Allen ffs - would love him here and he's 5'6''.

I agree there are a lot of exceptions and Man City are a small team. However, I'd rather put the money into someone more robust and powerful than Maddison. I'm sure the recruitment team know who they are after anyway and will take the balance of the team into account.

as shown this year, it's a massive step up from the Championship and you have to be of a certain mindset to succeed. In the majority our players have done OK considering, and there is no reason a player like Maddison wouldn't be able to make the step up.
