So, Martin from Wakefield is our new manager. Another left field appointment. At least he should be familiar with the Card factory, even if he's a Citeh fan. They both look like a pair of odd balls.

The fact is you said lightning doesn't strike twice, it did. Don't think Webber picks Dortmund managers for them, they seem to do that quite well. At the end of the day it's a gamble whoever comes in, some pay off, some don't. Dean says he now knows what a decent manager looks like, let's hope he's right. It's the DOF job we need to get right for recruitment, give the new man something to work with. Wagner would still be here if that job had been right in the first place. Norwich mean nothing to me, I'm on about lightning striking twice at Town. If it was that simple everybody would be doing this. I wouldn't disagree on that. Now who is Dortmund's DOF...…..

I Think he will be involved and this summer he will be working on his a badge but siewart his the favourite and I have no problem with either. They will need all the backing they can getwho ever comes in.

How very true, given all of the surrounding circumstances of the situation, it will not be easy or straight forward (not that it generally is for any new manager, but this seems a bit more of a challenge than the usual). Patience, which is in short supply in football, is going to be tested.

The whole transition thing will be easy IF he has that infectious personality Klopp, Wagner, Hussental etc.
If you get recruitment right and the manager gets the belief right then the impossible is possible.
If deano and the board are sure that our man has this, then that will be good enough for everyone. He is likely to start with 3 defeats so he going to have to be more than a manager to even get through this season. 15 games left he could easily lose them all or only pick up say 6 points... it will be a tough start for anyone so he is going to need more than a manager to give the fans some belief going forward and to sell 22000 season tickets.

Unless we suddenly start playing full throttle geaganpressing football and look like another special season is around the corner.... it's that depressing at the moment it's taking all my commitment to buy one myself... even at £249.

That's the key, character, attitude and personality. Wagner had it in abundance and perfectly right but lost it. Even Lee Clark had it but again lost it.

Depressing was buying a season ticket in the fourth division which I did! This season was always going to be harder than last, but at least we can hopefully look forward to winning games in the championship.

I think a fresh manager is the way forward for town, before they become battle hardened. The element of naivety is seen as a positive by most town fans. At the moment we aren't the terriers fighting the bigger dogs, rather a toy poodle getting our bellies tickled by everyone, its been a gradual 2 year transformation. If the new man comes in and says and does attacking football then he stands a chance, more of the same and we will be restarting with a new boss in the summer.

The die hards will still buy them, but despite the plastics, id rather a full stadium of optimistic fans with a like minded new boss, rather than a half empty stadium of fans saying well.... we used to be in the 4th division and a boss saying a club of our size is doing well to be in the championship.

Communication with the fans has not been the same since Julian Winter came in. Apparently he leaks to press that we have our man but does not choose to announce when a press conference will be. Post match interviews embarrassing when asked what they know and press officer shakes his head! Even Sean Jarvis quieter than normal apart from season card reminder. Just feel that decline started at same time as Winter came in. He appointed Rebbe and oversaw signings last summer.

To be fair Winter has had a few meets with the fans, both at Canalside and with the southern terriers.

Whilst I agree with what you're saying gone are the days of when the club could just come out and say it like the League One / Championship days. The club are in the Premier League and tread on the air of caution in more cases than one.

I can imagine the players have already been introduced to the new man as I've noticed most have gone a couple of days break judging by insta. I'd be surprised if they announce it and not have him meeting the players until weds/Thurs

Don't think you can quite judge Bruce and Robson as being absolute garbage Premier League standard I wouldn't touch them. As opposed to your Mourinhos and Wenger's they are. Maybe a tad harsh on the garbage part, but the point being a great player doesn't make you a great manager. The better ones have come from nowhere It's an interesting one. You mentioned Ferguson before, he didn't come from nowhere. Played for rangers, in Europe, in finals, signed for then a record fee between Scottish clubs. What's your criteria for a 'great' player and great manager. Bruce I don't think was great, no England caps. Yes there aren't a huge amount of top players that have made top managers but a lot haven't even gone in to management. And you make out that there's a big ratio of managers that have come from nowhere, the whole of this group of people on datm haven't played at a high level but haven't ended up being top managers so I reckon the ratio between nothing to top manager and top player to top manager isn't very different. Look at all the top players doing well or who have done well in the past: guardiola, ancelloti, deschamps, zidane, pochetino, simeone, dalglish, cruyff, capello, Bobby Robson, Jupp Heynckes, Brian clough, Mario zagallo,Beckenbauer. There are plenty there and current ones like lampard and Gerrard etc that are doing well at present. Yes there's a lot that haven't done well but there's also a hell of a lot of people with poor playing careers that haven't done well either.
