Aaron Mooy is the best player I have seen in 22 years of watching Huddersfield. I appreciate there are plenty of posters who have been watching for longer.
Every player has his price and if Brighton pay it, then so be it
This is not defeatist. It is an acceptance of the football world.
Mooy is 28, soon to be 29 and I fully understand he'd want to play at the highest level he can.
Added to that if Mooy does leave for big money I think we already have his replacement ready in Reece Brown and 1 year behind, Matt daly (a top, top prospect).
I want Mooy to stay, but don't think it is the end of the world of he goes for a big fee. £25M-£40Million.
It will be an interesting day tomorrow.

I don't think he'll even go for 25mill. I expect it to be around 15 to 20 which to me and many other town fans would be lower than hoped for our best player. But I sense the club will want to cash in on the money to avoid a lower fee in January or nothing at all next summer

He’s bossed games at the World Cup FFS.

Just can’t see us selling him on Deadline Day unless it’s very silly money. However seeing Brighton just spent £20m on 2 Championship players apiece they could be the club Phil has been holding out for. The fact they might make a move today shows how desperate they are for a PL quality CM. Don’t sign one and January is often too late.
Ultimately promotion is worth £200m for us, relegation in terms of losses is probably similar if not more for Brighton. Huge potential financial gains/losses for both clubs - if Aaron is the difference between no promotion for us and PL survival for them, 12 months left or not, it will need to be big money.

If we sell him the crowds will really drop down, will stink of teen spirit and the marcus stewart affair. Selling your best most creative midfielder .

To be honest, losing Town's best player means nothing to me anymore. The loss of Marcus Stewart to Ipswich hardened me to that fact. Apart from I think I may have wept for a whole week.

Haven’t we got the option of a 1 year extension...? In which case 10 months would be 22. If we lose Mooy it will be a sad day... but obviously hardly the most unexpected event. I wouldn’t worry though given this has been a real possibility I’m assuming ‘our excellent head of recruitment josh marsh’ would have his replacements lined up....

I kind of agree in regards to Mooy and him possibly not being interested the other night, but think if we do sell it will send a toxic message out to the fans. It's an interesting time at the club and those in the higher up positions need to be aware of sending out the right messages.

Players come and players go, it's the natural cycle of things.
If moody goes we'll have the memories of a fantastic player, representing us in the top flight for 2 years and will be earning a good profit from the investment.
The flip side to this is that Marcus stewart should never have been sold and whoever was behind it should have done time, the bastard! I'll never get over that one and it just cut even more deeply watching him do for someone else what he should have been doing for us!

If he goes and whatever he goes for I think it will be for the best because I don't think his heart is really in it along with a few others. Once they've had a taste for the big leagues, they want to be back there along with the riches that it brings.

Stewarts heart was at Town, he didn't want to move did he, whereas likes of Mooy and a few others probably don't want to be at Town in reality.

We definitely need a marque kind of signing, cant let great standard of a player like Mooy go and replace with a free or a lower league player can you. Even if its a top quality loan for the season I'd be happy.

Does the fee really matter to us fans if there’s no appetite to buy decent replacements
So far we’ve got over £20m in fees; billing, smith, sobhi (£1.6m loan fee) and loewe
Zanka soon to go and maybe mooy with mounie also being touted out
We’ve shifted delpoitre, Williams, lossl and durn off the wage bill (plus Payne)
That’s 8 high earners gone with Zanka to follow - possible mooy and mounie (before the international windows close)
The wage bill has been massively trimmed
Against that we’ve not spent £1m; koroma £500k, Brown £200k and £250k on Herbert plus elphick and a loan goalie ... and the strongest link today is Fraser Campbell!

It’s nothing like the MS sale!!! That was when we were on the ascension and selling him screwed us. Now we are relegated and need to rebuild accordingly.
Players will rightly want to leave.
If Tommy wanted out and to Stoke you’d be mad to think a player like Mooy wants anything other than another pop in the top flight.. ...good luck to him if he goes.
But God help our management if they’ve not planned right for it.....

It appears we are stripping the club of its assets I am not certain that I believe the new chairman anymore and he has only just taken over. We have spent nothing and got £19m for Billing and Smith with a possible further £15/20 for our best player in 15 years. We got relegated from the premier league due simply to the fact that we did not invest in premiership quality players and we are now doing the same thing in the championship.
And we have a Muppet as the Manager, what’s the saying about peanuts and monkeys?

I always assumed we had the extra year option too. I put the question to a very senior official who said no we don't. I can only assume that the extra year could only be triggered if we're in the prem

Wheres this Mooy's hearts not in it come from? He's never struck me as a heart on his sleeve player anyway.
The lad's just down on confidence like a few others.
