Stays all summer, boo’d off the pitch Monday, leaves on Thursday. It was very noticeable, to me anyway, that he clapped all four stands on his way off. Definitely looked to me like a farewell.

How about looking it from a different perspective. Mooy may have forced the move. And Brighton might be the only club who wanted him. Shock horror. A disinterested Mooy is no use to anyone. But it’s easier to blame the club He doesn’t want to be at town, that’s not hear say. It’s fact. Literally no point in having someone who doesn’t want to be here and isn’t putting a shift in in training. He may well be a fan favourite but he’s acted no different to Hunt behind the scenes. you have proof he dosnt want to be here

Best town player in my life, but the surprise isn't that he's going. The surprise is that he didn't go already.

I really hate transfer deadline day... I just wouldn’t pick up the phone. Brighton leaving us with a weak midfield now. No time to replace. Terrible! It was a weak midfield before Mooy goes We needed another centre mid before! Mooy goes we need 2

If he doesn't want to play in the championship on championship money, then we will have known for 7 months. Unless he only realised yesterday.
7 months to sort a deal.
If we loan him, without some great financial master plan, like guaranteed transfer at the end. Then god only knows what we are doing. I try not to knee jerk and be positive, but this needs explaining.

How does a loan deal benefit town in anyway?? Loan fee. Yearly expenditure in wages .. is it really that difficult for you ?

I would think that Phil needs to rein in on what he says. Only letting players go that we want to, or only letting them go if they reach our valuation may be a policy, but *if* he does go on loan then that would appear to contradict that policy.

How does a loan deal benefit town in anyway?? Maybe Man City had a 95% sell-on clause. Would just about work out for us if the rumour is true that we don't have a year's extension option on him. 20 million x 95% would mean we'd come out with 1 m, plus we wouldn't have to pay his wages

Poor management of an individual if true and could potentially cost us millions.

BUT TILL ITS SORTED AND WE KNOW WHAT AS BEEN AGREED .WE SHOULD LET THEM GET ON WITH IT.Again jumping the gun

If it is true it’s a shit way to do business. Last minute, best player. Keep him and get rid of JS.

i was taking the piss.clubs a shambles, It's not about the club being a shambles.. It's about Mooy wanting more money in a higher division.. why are people SO surprised ? There's still some things we don't know. The main ones being: how high was Man City's sell-on clause? Did we have a year's option on him after his contract runs out next year? If the answer to both questions is 1. Very high and 2. No, then it's just about understandable (from the Club's point of view, which is most important for me). Even so, why did all parties let it happen only 5 hours or so before the window closes, all concerned could have done us a favour and decided a week or so back, which (maybe) would have given us enough time to find a proper replacement.

To answer your later question ... "that's football " .. I have little doubt that we will have been hawking mooy around for months , a guy who we are reliably informed would be happy to run his contract down .. since the panic stricken lee Clark era town have always tried to have had business concluded early doors.. But that's not always possible and is further complicated this year by the fact that WE ARE NOT IN THE BOSS SEAT ( I'm turning into Positive )

Fictitious but possible scenario... End of last season, Mooy (with 1 year left on his contract) tells Town he has no intention of playing in the Championship. Town say fine, we have a valuation that needs meeting and once it is met you can go (let’s say £20m). Pre-season ticks by, no sign of any offers anywhere near the valuation. Mooy is pissed off but he’s a pro so he turns out in a daft sash at Rochdale and potters round midfield for the first game of the season. Meanwhile, his agent talks to other clubs. Brighton confirm they would be interested but he’s not a priority signing so they won’t be splashing a big fee or giving him a multi year contract. They’d be happy to pay a loan fee and take over his contract for the last year, paying his PL wages. At the end of the season both parties have the opportunity to negotiate a new contract with Mooy a free agent or to go their separate ways. Mooy and agent put the proposal to Town on the basis that he still has no intention of playing this season in the Championship and the club hasn’t sorted a better alternative. Everyone’s a winner. Except Town of course. Unless the loan fee is massive and we use it wisely. The End.
