Could the sale of Aaron Mooy be PH's Barry Rubery moment? Don't envy the decision he has to make here. Pelters and meltdown amongst the fans if he does - throwing away £15m plus if he doesn't.

I’m assuming City have a sell-on clause so hopefully it’s a decent fee (must be £15m-20m surely?). As someone pointed out, it doesn’t really matter if we’re not going to be spending any of it.

Odds of 1-10 on Skybet on AM joining Brighton today, looks like a done deal......only a problem with his medical test would stop it now.

Mooy owes us nothing. No matter what happens it’s been a pleasure watching him play football and ability wise there hasn’t been anyone close since Stewart.

If we sell him the crowds will really drop down, will stink of teen spirit and the marcus stewart affair. Selling your best most creative midfielder . Seems like a firesale to me, selling off our best players and all the good work done by DW and DH. No ambition, back to being a Championship / League 1 side for the foreseeable future, unlike the likes of Burnley.

Here's me thinking it would take a 'crazy' offer, now we're thinking a one year loan?! Maybe that's what he meant by crazy, a crazy offer in my book would be £30M+.
If he does go, which is looking likely, I dread to think who will be coming in as a replacement.

Wouldn’t make sense to loan him given 10 months left on his contract. So unless this ‘loan’ involves our valuation as a loan fee, or we activate the 1 year extension in his contract before he goes, then I’d assume that rumour is a load of bollocks.
Unsurprising given it’s Talkshite and the Sun reporting it.

If I was Mooy, i'd want to leave, and good luck to him. He is 28 and clearly good enough for the Prem. Nothing like the MS affair. I say sell, make the profit and invest in the future. Its business.

Players come and players go, it's the natural cycle of things. If moody goes we'll have the memories of a fantastic player, representing us in the top flight for 2 years and will be earning a good profit from the investment. The flip side to this is that Marcus stewart should never have been sold and whoever was behind it should have done time, the bastard! I'll never get over that one and it just cut even more deeply watching him do for someone else what he should have been doing for us! I agree with your 'natural cycle' comment, but, since NY we've lost our manager, chairman, club captain & now one of our best players, with the replacements having not met everyone's approval up to press, the table at 5pm after Luton away on 31st August will be a time for accessing just how the future might look.......good or bad?

How about looking it from a different perspective. Mooy may have forced the move. And Brighton might be the only club who wanted him. Shock horror. A disinterested Mooy is no use to anyone.
But it’s easier to blame the club

We already need a centre mid and a left back. This would leave us needing 3 players on deadline day.
There isn't a chance in hell we'll find the right 3 on 1 day. In fact, I'm pretty skeptical about us finding 1.

The other thought here is who will play in midfield on Saturday
Bacuna injured himself on Monday No Mooy
Leaves Hogg and I guess Brown and Stankovic
I think that shows instantly how threadbare our squad really is

It appears we are stripping the club of its assets I am not certain that I believe the new chairman anymore and he has only just taken over. We have spent nothing and got £19m for Billing and Smith with a possible further £15/20 for our best player in 15 years. We got relegated from the premier league due simply to the fact that we did not invest in premiership quality players and we are now doing the same thing in the championship. And we have a Muppet as the Manager, what’s the saying about peanuts and monkeys? Tbf that money for Tommy and Phil is £17m more than you said we'd get 🤣 I agree I got it wrong still not a Billing fan though

If he does leave on loan it will be because it suits us and Mooy. Assume city have a hefty sell on, letting him go on loan for a very sizeable loan fee may net us more and gets a top earner off the wage bill. From Mooys point of view it means he's not tied to a club who might get relegated but still gets his prem football. Then in 12 months he gets his retirement to China on 100k a week

I don't think he'll even go for 25mill. I expect it to be around 15 to 20 which to me and many other town fans would be lower than hoped for our best player. But I sense the club will want to cash in on the money to avoid a lower fee in January or nothing at all next summer When Blackburn have demanded £20m for Bradley Dack and Bristol City sold Webster for £22m last week, £15-20m for Mooy is quite frankly pathetic. He’s bossed games at the World Cup FFS. Dack is 25 and Webster is 24. Mooy is in the final year of his contract and if we can get £15-20m it will be good business no matter what you think.
