We all know that the atmosphere isn’t the best down at the Galpharm, and everyone seems to have different views on how to get some a better atmosphere going, new songs etc. How would folk feel about a supporters group being set up to try and encourage better atmosphere at the games? I’ve got a few mates who are York City Fans, and they had a similar problem at their games, so they set up a group called the Jorvic Reds. They only started out as a small group, but within the 4 years they have been going, they have a load of members, and can generate a really good atmosphere. I’ve been to a few games with them & they always get the crowds going. The main aim of the group is to create a decent atmosphere in the crowd. They have loads of banners, flags etc which they take to games and it looks really good. Apparently a lot of teams have such groups now. Crystal Palace have a good sized group, as do Accrington Stanley, Celtic, Motherwell, Newcastle, Southend & Aberdeen. Just been browsing a few of their sites tonight and some are really impressive. They organise busses to away games, get tickets together so they can all sit in one area etc etc. I think it would be good if we could get something similar going down at Town. Everyone moans about the lack of atmosphere so this could be a decent opportunity the do something about it. With the links the fans have with the club now (Thinking HTSA) and the fact we could be given the South Stand on a more regular basis, now would be a perfect time to get something going. I know a lot of folk wont agree with this, but after speaking to a few people on here (especially last week when were playing Darlington in the chat room) a few sound like they could be up for it. Below are a couple of pictures from a few of the groups mentioned above to give you an idea of what I’m on about: Crystal Palace: Aberdeen: Celtic: A few folk on here will probably disagree with this, and a few folk will think it’s a great idea. Been thinking of putting something up like this for a while but not been sure about it or not, but I thought might as well, see what folk think

if you put in jorvic reds in on youtube, they make a great atmosphere for so few people. it puts alot of clubs in league 1 n 2 to shame. maybe even a few championship teams. we would need to see how many people would do it.
get how many people want to do it, then take it from there.

When you say get a group of people together, what are you wanting them to do?
Are you suggesting meeting in a pub before hand and starting it off in there, for an example of this check the Bishops Blaize out on you tube.
Post a link up to some of the other sites for us all to get a bit more of a feel for it all.
I like the idea, but I do think people will just complain about the drummer and the little kids. I quess you are suggesting a sort of Ultra's style thing but without the off the field activities of such a thing?

without wanting to put a downer on an otherwise good idea...York play at small ground which will be near capacity or at least appear that way! We play in a Stadium that doesnt retain noise and is 30-50% empty

Its worth a go mate...would work in the south stand! But I genuinely think a sizeable minority of town fans go to moan! I mention the York ground because the atmosphere was awesome the season we got promoted with Jacko, and we won at Bootham Crescent

Very good idea, especially getting away tickets at the same time.

I know what your saying, but if you compare to say, Palace, it works for them. They just have a couple of blocks in one of the stands (kinda like our "Singing Section" I guess) I know there ground is normally fuller than our's but if it can encourage a lot more folk down the match to sing, then it can only be a good thing.

like the idea but how would the buying tickets together work Quick thought of the top of my head would be that the club hold a certain amount of tickets in one place, then when you go get a ticket you could ask for one with "The Group" (will have to think of a better name ;D ) and then they give you a seat in that area. Not sure if that is legal to hold back ticket or owt though Only other way to do it (and this could only be done after a while as it would involve a lot of trust) is a person(s) is in charge of getting monies of people and then going down and buying a lot of tickets in an area of the ground in one block of seats.

think you'd have to plan away games a few weeks before they go on sale and get money and names together then say to the ticket office we have eg 30 people wantin to go can you save them together

So the answer is yes it can work... but I think the key to this is where you position them that can generate this noise but I do think its a good idea.. Hopefully is the South Stand experiment works in a few weeks we could have the perfect area

Think its a really good idea pozza, like others say just depends on the numbers but its defo worth a shot, we need the galpharm to be an intimindating(sorry spelling isnt my strong point) place for teams to visit.

I'd be up for something like this but you would have to count me out of the longer away trips like swindon, yeovil etc. Anything midlandsish and above im in. Also, i'd be prepared to move to a specific area at home games aslong as we werent thrown off into a corner on the front row.

quality idea would have to have words with the Stewards and Old Bill though about actually allowing us to stand up and sing, instead of telling evry1 to sit down every matchday, and even going to the extremes of kicking people out!

Great Idea... how come the newly liberated supporters club front aren't helping you with this one, or even running something similar I can't make out if that's a dig or not But anyway it was mentioned to the club in the summer and they were not averse to the idea. Stan (Polish Hippy) had seen the York example and thought it was something that could work here. As yet nothing has been done about it, but it's something that HTSA would help with (if needed).

Great Idea... how come the newly liberated supporters club front aren't helping you with this one, or even running something similar TBH the post last night was the first i'd mentioned it to anyone (apart from folk I know personally) so the HTSA wouldn't have even known anything about it. Seems there might be quite a bit of intrest in this by the replys in the thread

do you not remember the group of singers at the top of the antich who sang constantly throughout the game but after got slated by such people as polish hippy?
Ok they tried and gto brought down so stopped
How can you expect people to make such a group when theres always those who moan about it and are basically just plain miserable?
