Trouble is it doesn't explain why we brought Steadhino back :-) Perhaps because he was MoM or at least the outstanding player for (albeit a v poor) Brizzle City v Town both home and away last season; he wanted to return as near to Hudds as possible for family reasons which possibly aided us getting him a the right/a decent price and as he's a local lad you'd expect he might want to come back.

Not sure how you'll have arrived at the first conclusion I've quoted or how much of a conclusion can be reached from the comment. How much exposure do you have to how other clubs engage with supporters & how much interest do you actually take in how supporters of other clubs are treated. I can only speak from personal experience but if we are the best then God help the worst because I've no real reason to believe we're that good. My conclusion is based on the availability/openness of contact with the owners/board of directors which is 2nd to none. Fair enough, it's your opinion. But to be more specific in my observation, how detailed is your knowledge of how the Carlisle, Torquay, Gillingham, Bournemouth (to pick some geographical extremes) board of directors interact with their fans? Could you outline? I'm assuming (& I accept it's an assumption) that you really don't have that much knowledge of other clubs, so it seems (IMHO) a strange point to make and to be so confident about. An old poster on here (KNSE) made the observation Town had "the best ticket office in the league" (or something similar)when the ticket office were coming in for some criticism. The statement was made despite the fact that she accepted the number of clubs from whom she'd bought tickets from were low (or possibly even only one) and therefore the statement really carried little weight. I wonder to what extent your comment is similar. I'm afraid I have for balance to state my own experiences of the organisation have been very very poor. The worst example (and one which I've not posted about before) was concerning the "club" shop refusing to exchange a child's replica shirt (despite this being in line with discussions with an assistant). The Manager of the shop called me a liar at considerable volume in an incident which left my son in tears. I wrote a very lengthy letter of complaint (making it abundantly clear how angry I was and how ridiculous it was to suggest that I'd rip off the club (I thought they were a club then) for a Kid's replica shirt when the money I'd spent (including "money for nothing" patron's membership, share ownership etc.) supporting them over many years dwarfed this sum)). The shirt was eventually exchanged, but I never received an apology just the comment "people make mistakes" (surely something in writing was appropriate?), no gesture of goodwill. I was treated with further contempt and considerable bad manners when I had to pick up the shirt (surely under the circumstances it should have been posted to me?). The shirt wasn't left as arranged so I had to wait a very lengthy amount of time which meant I was late for an important evening engagement in Nottingham (if I'd thought for one second the organisation would leave me standing like a spare part for that length of time I'd never have accepted the arrangement) causing me no end of hassle (it is still brought up and has limited the games I can attend if other priorities exist - I'm given no "lee-way" whatsoever). Even after waiting an inordinate amount of time, I received no apology for either the delay or the initial incident but was too rushed to debate the situation. All this was despite the issue being passed by the CEO to a current board member. No other organisation in the land would have had a further penny from me after the first incident never mind the arguably more serious follow up (for a board director to demonstrate such poor manners in two instances is breathtakingly poor and lacking in simple straightforward common decency). I'm afraid there have also been two other instances of very poor responses from the organisation to written communication (they've now failed the "three strike" rule as far as I'm concerned so I wouldn't bother communicating with them again). Time and time again I see instances of practices which a business would regard as unacceptable to try on their customers but which our "club" adopt (e.g. a £5 charge (used to be £20!!) for stolen or lost season ticket cards, a charge per ticket (not transaction) to post away tickets) to their most loyal supporters. Huddersfield Town will be my team until death (my mother actually renewed my Dad's season ticket for a few years after his death) but I'm afraid my experiences differ markedly from the ones you portray. The organisation is simply not the club I fell in love with and I assure you I say that with a heavy heart and not simply to moan at the organisation.

My experiences on communicating with the club (especially with Nigel Clibbens), has been excellent. I Was given time and help in what I needed.

So they must be out of contract players That is probably correct, but I don't know who they are. I was told by a chap on Sunday in the pub - he's been a ST for many a year and from what I gather quite chatty with several Town staff - and he tells me he's heard Troy Deeney and Peter Whittingham are at the top of our shopping list. Both of which, I believe, out of contract this summer. Disclaimer** I haven't bothered to check whether they are indeed out of contract or not

budget.. the starting 11 yesterday will surely make up the big percentage of the starting one for next season.. we may well have a shopping list, lots of crossed out names before we can go shopping.

Deeney in particular would be a perfect foil for Wells. Not getting my hopes up re signings, just hope we don't get a couple more of the Stead / Paterson calibre. Fingers crossed !!!!

Whittingham is out if contract this summer.

Whittingham could be a decent signing but based on the fact he's been a mainstay in the Cardiff side, I suspect they'd probably offer him a new deal once their fate is sealed

I have heard Chris Wood and Peter Whittingham. Don't be surprised to see some big names this season. Deano knows that the last 2 have been "near misses" so to speak and will be investing in some genuine quality.
That will be offset by the substantial trimming of the squad. I have also heard we will be making important "signings" to the back room staff, more specifically the medical department.

Chris Wood and Whittingham would be miles out of our price range in terms of wages IMO. Can't think why either they'd be joining a team that in all reality will be lower mid table at best.
Love to be wrong though!!

If you told Peter Whittingham we were signing players of the calibre of Chris wood and told Chris Wood we were signing players like Peter Whittingham surely that would be a convincer?

Think the salary offered would be the clincher, and I just don't see us being able to or wanting to pay the kind of salary the likes of Wood and Whittingham would want.

Town need to be picking up the next Troy Deeney and Peter Whittingham. We don't have the finances to sign either
Deeney cost Watford £250k up front Whittingham cost Cardiff £350k
We just need to be smarter with our scouting, easier said than done. There is probably 20-30 players currently playing in league one and below who will be regular championship players over the next few seasons (ignoring the obvious with Wolves and Brentford players). Are we smart enough to identify the best ones and bring them in on good deals? We've managed it with Wells although that was quite an outlay (likely to be recouped)

Peter Whittingham maybe but I still think he'd be in demand from a larger Championship club than us, Chris Wood, next to no chance, if he did it would be a major coup and a major show of intent.
