if the suggestion is true ie boro wanting clayton what do town do?. He is in the last year of his contract so he can run it down and leave on a free.. He can sign a extended contract if he is offered one or town can cash in now. Boro know that town wont want him to go on a free so can offer less than is value to get him. Dont know what will happen but its up to town now in what direction they take. But the player is in the stronghest position now. if he doesnt want to stay it weakens towns position. Time will tell

Why would Boro spend money on Clayton when they can have Govern for free? I've an idea. Tell Boro they can have Clayton for X amount if they also take Paterson as part of the deal!! We'll also throw Stead in too plus carriage

boro..? would be a sideways move for him. surely we should be able to compete with them for wages, given he's one of if not our best players? where as they will already have a few high earners..if we cant id worry...they dont have parachute payments and only a couple extra k fans
the lad should sign a new contract give us another year or so and get a better move and us some brass

We absolutely have to have an adequate replacement lined up for if we do lose Clayton. Our powder puff midfield would be trampled all over without him and we cannot make the same mistakes of the past when not replacing players.
It seems every club of a similar size or smaller in this league are spending way beyond their means to ensure they stay up. I'm not saying we should do that but we absolutely must start holding on to our better players otherwise we are going to be left way behind.

Clayts would of course be a big loss in our CM position, if this is true I hope the men in charge are looking at alternative options if AC does end up leaving us.

I would think that for Clayton to go to Boro they would have to either put him on substantially higher wages than he is on now, or that he could hope to negotiate at Town now, or that he could get from Town or a different club in one years time. If anybody offers him a daft contract - he'd be daft not to take it.

Difficult position for him and Town.

Just a thought but middlesbrough value Jutkiewicz at 1.5m and we need a target man and based on how he played at Bolton , Motherwell and Cov, would you take a straight swap for Clayton? If Clayts wanted the move of course.

Can't narrow it down to who,for obvious reasons, but all I can say is you heard it here first, anyway like I say,who are we likely to get in midfield to replace,Keith Andrews isn't the man for me,this young lad from doesn't seen likely,so where next.hope we don't go down the route of 3rd rate foreign players unless they turn out to be like Dean Gorre who certainly wasn't 3rd rate!
