I had a read of somebody else's programme at Cardiff. That was £3 (I think) and a traditional style magazine. But it did have one interesting addition - they included a reprint of an old Cardiff/Town vintage programme from the 50s, complete with adverts etc. stapled in the centre so it could be removed and kept/read separately. I'd be far more interested to read something like that on a match day - say they included a reprint of an 80's programme between Town/Middlesbrough for the next game. I've read all I need to about Adam Clayton/Jacob Butterfield who will no doubt be the features of that programme. I'd sooner read about Bernie Slaven and Duncan Shearer as it was written at the time

With the media these days there's so much available that what can be included within a programme leaves little room for original exclusive material. Stopped buying them 10-12 years ago, tho I did give GUAH a whirl for a few issues in the first season.

I thought GUAH was a good programme, I'm amazed people want a programme in it's current format!

When the newly named GUAH came out it 2009, it was a glossy and very different programme to anything we had had before. To now have a newspaper ( a very expensive newspaper at two quid) in place of a programme shows the club in bad light. It is terrible to be honest. You can't get much more low budget than this.

I actually quite like it. If they reduced the price to a quid it would be better. 2 quid for a newspaper programme is a rip off...for goodness sake you can get the Sunday times for less and it weighs about 2 kilos!

It was in town's last accounts that the programme was going to change (revenue must be decreasing annually as less & less people buy/collect programmes). Clearly not enough of you ranting were actually buying the thing.
They were faced with 3 choices I'd say
A) Stop printing a programme B) Put the price up considerably. Thus risking losing money as people stop buying it because it's too expensive. c) Try an alternative cheaper format.
They're trying c and if it makes more money than last season they'll keep doing it regardless of whether they upset programme collectors.
Moving digital is unlikely to have made much difference when there's plenty of 'free' town content available online.

totally agree heard some charlton and forest fans at the last game and they couldnt believe it!!! i feel sorry for the people who have to sell them!
I agree in the early days of give us an h. It's like the person who came up with the idea has totally run out of ideas and they need someone new to take it over!
there is a facebook page that might get the clubs attention because numerous emails to the club have had no effect!!
" Huddersfield town fans want a programme not a paper"

The distribution of news in printed form is in decline even with expensive journalists finding (and fabricating!!!) stories. To do it on the cheap is not the way to do it, let alone to charge £2.
If it wasnt financially viable to keep printing the programme why dont they move with the times and purely have a digital version of GUAH?! Yes it would only sell to a small group but you could target the advertising more efficiently and could have good interactive links to the website, club store, partners etc.
However that would require forward thinking!

Has John Robinson approved it? Im sure it wouldn't be fire retardant. My opinion is reduce the size of the program to a glossy half thick GUAH and sell it for £1-£1.50. Can then be collected at a cheaper cost. Im sure most people would part with a quid for a program.......then again maybe not.

If it's not financially viable why are the other 91 clubs still producing programmes? Surely they all wouldn't continue if they were making a loss!! Maybe they were printing too many or got a contract with an expensive printing company?

That paper is a fookin embarrassment . If we can't afford to do a proper job with a programme don't bother with it at all .

Thus risking losing money as people stop buying it because it's too expensive. c) Try an alternative cheaper format. While I do applaud the club for trying something different and lowering the price... you don't see an option 'd' where they could try to improve the content and add some innovation then? I've already listed something which would get me to buy a programme (more accurately; READ a programme, as I already get one for free) but just giving it 60 seconds thought now I can come up with - Offer vouchers in there which, after collecting a certain amount throughout the season, offer a discount at the club store.
Do some sort of pie/drink/programme deal - already read on here that there's a meal deal which people don't want but buy because it makes more financial sense.
'Retro' programmes as mentioned above.
Some sort of free gift inside, perhaps a sticker collection set such as the Thrice Champions website produced; a load of cartoon stickers which could feature one per programme for people to collect. If North Stand Loyal can hand out free stickers then I'm sure the club can come up with something. This could go retro, too - look at the popularity of Panini stickers throughout the last World Cup, even among adults. Put a pack in each programme and also have them available to buy at the store.
Fan content - offer some of the bloggers a chance to feature. Many write articles at their own expense, why not ask them to help out? I've read better articles on fansites than I have from official releases. This isn't a plea for HTFC-World content, BTW. I've already been asked to do that years ago and agreed but it was deemed unsuitable I'm sure most other contributors could pass the official censors There, that was 60 seconds thought. I'm sure with more planning and research that stronger ideas could be brought to the table. But that's not my job

in the 'old days' (late 1960s) there was a token printed on the front of the programme; you collected these or presented certain one to gain access to Cup tickets.

The paper is bloody awful, don't get why they did it.
Have to bring back a glossy normal programme, this one is awful.

You might not agree with how they've done it, but I reckon it must be the first time the programme has ever reduced in price. Why anyone buys it, in whatever format, eludes me, but then I get it free so it's pretty good value.

Two Liverpool-based lads launched a quarterly football magazine called SPIEL that has taken off. They also did Field which gets handed out for free at Premier League games. An interesting approach and a new take on the fanzine. wellmadestudio.com/work/field/spielmagazine.com/I was interested in starting a fanzine at the bag end of last season that would would included footy/culture/relevant news/opinions etc, would be quite an undertaking though.

They revamped the programme not that long ago and it has been well received/improved but it hasn't increased circulation to a viable level. Programmes made great sense when they were the only place you could read about town/get vital info. Those days are gone and so will programmes.

All good ideas but it wouldn't make me buy a programme. I don't think anything would. You say that, but the minute they introduce a full sticker set of every historical kit, I reckon you'll be unable to resist, going by your signature pics
