Said on the telly that it was a 28 day emergency loan. That was so he could play on Saturday at Brentford. Paperwork had to be completed by 12:00 on Friday and it wasn't, so went for emergency loan just to secure his services for that game. Permanent now. Thanks - didn't realise that. I guess he was on either a contract extension or new contract with us this year because I distinctly remember when he bagged his hat trick at v Watford 2's last season Lolley or someone was making a contract signing gesture to him!

Is hammill out of contract in summer?? The club had a option of another 12 months, but are not going to use it so yes he is finished here! Listening to the Rotherham manager last Friday on Radio Sheffield he said if his loan until the end of the season goes well then they will look at a permanent move! I'm pretty sure that Hammill is contracted to the summer of 2016 with the option of a further year after that.

Rotherham centre is a real dump, worse than Hudds imo. Danny won't be impressed. So is Huddersfield

I'm pretty sure that Hammill is contracted to the summer of 2016 with the option of a further year after that. I'm pretty sure you're right. Huddersfield Town On 24 June 2013, Hammill rejoined Huddersfield Town in a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year deal (with a further year's option) with the Terriers. He made his second debut for the club as a substitute in the 1–0 defeat by Nottingham Forest on 3 August. He scored his first goal in his second spell in the 5–1 win over A.F.C. Bournemouth on 24 August, and since returning to the club, has excelled in the new 3–5–2 formation as a right wing-back. Hammill fell out of favour with Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell, and subsequently was dropped from the team's match-day squad. On 9 January 2015, he joined fellow Championship side Rotherham United on loan for the rest of the season.

Yeah Hudds is mainly a dump too, around the centre. Ward might be house hunting around Sheffield whic is a much better area.

I'm pretty sure that during the Watford game Oggy reiterated a few times that his contract ran out this year, even after a few tweets came at him disputing his facts. Then again, I could be imagining Oggy said that as I was feeling quite euphoric listening to the game.

Wardy might look at Stannington near Hillsborough, nice country pubs and some big houses, could do worse.

Hammill is contracted until 2016 - so to get the reported £350k for Ward permanently, and get rid of Hammill's wages for the rest of the season is a great bit of business once again by Town.
I think Hammill going there is actually to get him back up to speed. He wasn't the same after that injury against Charlton and apparently had personal problems, now he's back but is rusty so regular game time will do him good. Whatever happens, at the very least that's some wages freed up, and best case is he comes back at his best where he'll be a valuable member of the team or valuable player to sell.

Examiner reporting a fee of around £375k.. Not bad considering he's out of contract in the summer & hardly featured this season. That's even higher than the £350k fee I reported on here a few days ago (I'd got that figure from the Rotherham forum, though other posters of then thought it was £350k for Ward + Hammill). Decent fee then for Ward in the circumstances. I'd have taken 100k, I really would....Makes you wonder how much we could of held out for if he had more than 6 months on his contract... What a thoroughly outstanding deal.

When you weigh that up that fee against the £300k we reportedly paid for Butterfield, it shows how savvy we're being in the transfer market.

Rotherham have got a good player at a very good price. 375k is not a lot of money for a young proven championship player, who still has the vast majority of his career infront of him. Good luck to him. He'll be another one that gets frequently mentioned on here over the coming years.

I have a feeling Ward will do an "Arfield". I always rated him, just don't quite think he's the finished product yet. Let's face it, he scored 10 goals for the club last season, which isn't bad going.

Maybe he will do ok, but hes never looked like doing much after his first 10 or so games on loan. He is and will be always a decent championship footballer, He gives the impression that he has no desire to be anything more. We shall see.

Loser donates the £50 to Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Deal?

never been a fan of Ward, just too exasperating to watch..clumsy, oaf-like - can't head, can't tackle. can't shoot, can't control a ball .. I'm glad he's gone. I do hope that he finds success at his new club though, I'm not one to wish the lad ill... Hope we have a sell on clause ?

You really believe a player who can't "Head, tackle, shoot or control a ball" could get a pro contract at any level? I mean, really??

Sort of - but you could be consistent at a lower level - I'm struggling for something a bit brainier I get it, not talented enough? Its a tough one - they have all got bits of talent. Stewart and Worthington would be at the top end of the scale of what it is. I'm now thinking of candidates for the bottom end and if anyone can mention a few we can see where Wardy fits in on the scale Making the right decisions and doing the right thing week in week out would be a way of putting it.
