Fuck sake, why have they been loaned out to a rival, seriously have to question Powell on that one! There ll finish above us then! Why do you come to that conclusion? They're not good enough to get into our team. I'd rather see Rotherham spending on the likes of Hammill than someone who I thought would improve them.

Ben Pringle turned down the move to Millwall? Could he be coming to Town?

Good business. Neither anything but squad players for us. We will replace them with better quality.

I think the issue is that players often look completely different after a move, even if it is only a temporary thing. I don't rate Ward and Hammill is inconsistent (as almost all wingers are) but with a fresh start and playing for contracts I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them do alright in the short term. I appreciate we need to get rid and can only do so to whoever's interested but it's hard to deny the potential it has to go down as a massive gaffe come the end of the season. It's e4 I feel sorry for, at least he won't have far to go to support his new team though

If we are looking to free up wages and lg1 sides probably can't afford them, also unlikely that higher placed Ch'ship sides would take a punt on players that can't make regular starts in a lower placed team, so where else would they go than someone around our own level?

Good business. Neither anything but squad players for us. We will replace them with better quality. Two very good players on their day. The sort that can come up with something different that wins you a game, especially ward. But both more than capable of being rubbish too. If we replace them with better- then it'll be good business, if we don't it won't. Time will tell.

If we do get Ben, we'll have Pringle, Lolley and Bunn...our wingers will sound like the inside of a tuck shop!

Everyone keeps going on about this Pringle kid coming in, is he actually going to be any big improvement ? Doesn't look like he's been outstanding for Rotherham this season and if there are only other teams in the mire like Millwall after him is he going to be a whole lot better than Hamill or Ward ?
Cue this time next year when he's one of a member of Powell's 'deadwood' that we need to ship out.

Pringle would be good, wonder if there's any substance behind the rumour of Mackay-Steven coming in. Now that would be a good signing. He's into his last year on his contract, I believe...

Very good business for them, helping out a relegation rival, hope that doesn't come back to bite us.

Don't think many have a problem with these two leaving, but to Rovrum is just insanity - a team we're hoping takes up one of the two relegation spots alongside Blackpool. Can't believe the powers that be have sanctioned this! I can't quite get my head around the logic. They are not good enough footballers to get into our first team, we cast them off somewhere else and they are suddenly world-beaters. Not quite what I was getting at. In simple terms I think it's daft to give a rival two decent players who, as you say, might not be good enough for our team but have the potential to 'do an Arfield' if you want to put it like that and elevate Rovrum to above us.

I find this alarming, at the moment.... It's like Marcus Stewart all over again.
We all know that they both have bags of ability if not the consistency. Our own players could send us down.... A bit like Marcus Stewart took Ipswich up..
Hopefully we have somebody coming in . Ben Pringle ?

They couldnt elevate us any higher and both have been here the thick end of 3 years when you include hammills loan spell! Stop getting so flustered by it - hammill has never done it consistently anywhere other than barnsley who were a bottom 6 championship team, and ive seen more consistency in a jelly than danny ward, notwithstanding the lad has ability. If they are leaving to allow better players to come in then great.......if not, then we havent appointed the right manager, because there are players out there better than both hammill and ward within our price range thats for sure.

Massive over-reaction imo.

can see why they have been allowed to leave, however to a relegation rival, is very very questionable imo

I think that the only thing that is alarming is your analogy between Marcus Stewart (one of the best strikers we have ever had) and Danny Ward/Adam Hammill, neither who have lived up to the natural footballing ability that they undoubtedly possess

Both decent players on their day, but with enough minus points to justify offloading them. Hamill in particular I'm not sorry to see go, I never could get comfortable with his petulant attitude.
Do we really need to see replacements coming in for these guys? Lots of people have been saying that we need a smaller squad of better players, leaving room for the youngsters to come through on the bench etc. We've got Bunn & Scannell as 1st choice wide players, with Lolley on the fringe (accepting he's not a winger per se)- who else do we have in the squad / club that plays wide?
Spot on. As per the discussion the other day.... the replacements for Hammill and Ward (and Stead) are ALREADY at the club. The kind of players we sign in those positions should be good enough to be ousting Scannell, Bunn and Lolley, otherwise what's the actual point?

That Dale Stephens injury did for Hammill, never the same after that.
Surely there must have been a few league 1 clubs we could have shipped them out to?

There are a number of teams above us but within 3 points... if it allows us to strengthen then we shouldn't have to worry about Rotherham. With a bit of luck....
