Ward apparently part of a Permenant swap deal for Pringle.

It's amazing how people have turned on Hammill think he's been one of our best players over the past couple of seasons! Sad to see him go personally!

hammill on a good day was an option..agreed we need options but with our finances we should be firstly getting the strongest starting 11 we can muster.
hammill would be a good option off the bench but we need a decent number on the bench who powell would like to start but just cant find room for..not sure we have that now..

We're letting 2 players go to a relegation rival who scored 14 goals and had 15 assists between them last year. Amazing.

Would love to have seen some people's reaction if Ward and Hammill (maybe not so much) started against Watford.
Be along the lines of 'we should be looking to ship these 2 out, not have them in our f*cking starting 11.' 'How are we ever going to progress with these 2 in our squad,' and also 'Good one Powell, drop our most improved player in Scannell and one of our brighter talents in Bunn for the woman beating waster Hammill and fatty Ward.' - Most of them would have been from the 'supporters' who are slagging the club for getting rid.
They have gone to Rotherham, maybe the only club who was serious about taking them, who cares? Seriously who cares? Just finding stuff to moan about, they will finish WAY below us come May.
Who would be a manager hey?

I am sure this manager knows what he is doing hence our strong league position and some of the most entertaining football ever seen at the town. The Reading game in particular was seriously breathtaking. He has made such an improvement on Scannell, so much so that he has managed to find the net regularly with his 2 goals this season. We don't need the likes of Ward who can only score lucky hat-tricks in games against the top teams. Ironically we are up against the same team tomorrow but I am sure Scannell will totally destroy them anyway. I think he's right in shipping out our least effective wide player (Hammill), the one who never creates any openings for his strikers too. Don't believe the stats, they are nothing to go by any road are they Powell? I am sure the players who he brings in, apart from Poyet of course, will be absolutely brilliant, especially if they are tough southerners! I can only see Town going upwards and Ward & Hammill doing absolutely nothing for Rotherham so it makes total sense. No way on earth will they manage to overhaul the goal tally of our world class winger, Scannell. Cheer up lad, there's plenty more Danny Wards' in the sea Who needs Danny Ward when we have got goal a season Scannell!

Clear evidence of how we waste brass. £1m on Ward's fee, no doubt with wages to match - presumably he'll go for a pittance (if anything) due to his contract being nearly up. Hammill similarly arrived 'full of potential' after an Anfield schooling so would have been on a few quid. We stand by him through his 'problems', in particularly twatting that female paramedic. All that investment in wages when he was unavailable also down the pan. Mr Hoyle must despair at how football pisses money away. Ha - mid typing I just got the hourly spam from the club with the subject shouting 'Many bargains still to be had'. There sure are folks, the January sale is in full swing!! Yeah, we're the only club in history to make a signing that hasn't justified the cost..... There will be literally thousands of worse signings than Ward.

But Scannell will probably create another before May so that will be fine. Have faith. Powell built a team at Charlton that was challenging....for the wooden spoon so he clearly has the credentials to manage a struggling side.

Good move.
Both off our wage bill & hopefully playing again.
We will get a replacement in who the gaffer wants here & will no doubt contribute more for us this season than the two of them combined have managed thus far.

We all know changes are needed at Town, so I'm pleased things are happening on the transfer front fairly early into the transfer window. Stead and Hammill both gone already, several others almost certain to follow sooner rather than later. I can understand concerns that Hammill and Ward going to Rotherham could seem like a conflict of interest, but Town want them out and Rotherham happen to be the team that wants them. We have to trust that Town are comfortable with what their plans are for players coming in, and at least they're not leaving it to the last minute.
Edit - just noticed it's my 2,000th post!

Makes Powell's starting XI vs Reading look even shitter (somehow). Start a guy you're gonna get rid off and give Lolley 4 mins Can an "Absolutely f*****g spot on" button be introduced? Like doesn't seem sufficient.

Just stating what a wasteful business football is. I think I'm right in stating Ward is one of only three players we've ever paid £1m+ for. Now we have given him to a rival. In the context of FFP and our very tight budget, the cost seems huge.

Better teams might have been put off by his lack of appearances this season. Have they buggery! If he was that good, then take him on loan onlly then review it. The better teams can certainly afford a Danny ward more than Rotherham can! They've been put off because he's so bloody inconsistent........been here nearly 4 years overall and for every decent game there's been 4 or 5 poor ones.

Wonder why they mentioned 'a permanent deal to follow' with regards to Ward but not Hammill?
Edit: just realised it's an initial loan so he can play against Brentford with a view to buying him on Monday.

Can you imagine the reaction on here if we signed two players who couldn't get into the first 11 of a team around us in the league?

That's our top 2 combined goals and assists from last season - 33 between them...shows how things can change
Ward - The right time for Ward to move on I think, he hasn't progressed. But he scored 10 goals last season, 6 assists and often played out of position. He missed some sitters, he had off days but he didn't get anything like the credit he deserved.
Hammill is too unpredictable for Powell. He doesn't run in straight lines, its hard to know what he will do next, not a Powell player. I liked him and wouldn't have let him go but he was never going to fit into Powell's team. 6th top assist in last season's league. And for all Scannell has done well his 4 assists and 2 goals are someway short of the 17 goals and assists Hammill made.
If Scannell made or scored 16 /17 goals in a season this place would have him on par with Messi!
Scannell, well he has been brilliant to watch for 3 months, and I give him a lot of credit for that. Hopefully we get the 3 /26ths of his career here which have been worth watching... my concern is we get the 23 / 26ths return!
Does it mean more time for Lolley? What you mean 7 minutes a game?
