Can you imagine the reaction on here if we signed two players who couldn't get into the first 11 of a team around us in the league? The most telling post on this whole thread. Well said that man.

@officialrufc: SE on Ward: "He has good ability, excellent movement and he was one of the players who was instrumental in Huddersfield playing well." #rufc
Ey?! What have Rotherham's scouts been watching he hasn't even been playing for us?! Think they may have him confused with Scannell...
"Eh who are you?! No no no I said I wanted the one with dreadlocks!"

And if you were the manager, your solution would be what exactly? enlighten us all with your strategy. Not loan them to a relegation rival? But that's not really a strategy. If we need to free up money to get new players in - some have to go. Its no secret that finances are tight. If we were operating as you suggest, being afraid of Rotherham then we would be lacking ambition. Two men don't make a team, and in any case, I would like Powell and the Town board to be like Italian racing drivers. Totally unconcerned with whomever is behind them. Onwards and upwards. UTT.

Very valid point. But Scannell will probably create another before May so that will be fine. Have faith. Powell built a team at Charlton that was challenging....for the wooden spoon so he clearly has the credentials to manage a struggling side. His teams finished above us every time.. .. Have a day off Check your facts dick. They only finished above us last time after the sacked the buffoon or does that count in your weird world.

It's a pity that Ward really never delivered, he could do it on the odd game but was far to inconsistent.
Not really that bothered about Hammill.

I will wait to see who our replacements are but selling two capable players to relegation rivals is shoddy business. It's a shame we couldn't loan them Powell instead.

Ward 1 goal every 7 games which included at least a quarter of them either upfront or just behind the front man?! Hardly awe inspiring is it?!

Heard we were still interested in Jamie Paterson. Wonder if he is the replacement?

Shoddy is an appropriate word, a by product in the textile industry, essentially fibre that's not good enough for the finished material. Hammill and Ward (who I do like actually), aren't good enough for the type of team Powell wants to build.

My only problem with this is they went to a rival. Hope that does not bite us in the rear later.

Cheer up lad, there's plenty more Danny Wards' in the sea Who needs Danny Ward when we have got goal a season Scannell! E4Band Do you go to the games? Even the most short sighted narrow minded fan could not complain about SS this year he has been superb,Both Ward and Hammill have not featured under CP so why keep paying their wages? Stead has gone now Ward and Hammill ( please take note all on my list) and I think they will allow us to bring in better players who will play not just pick up wages.

Not looking good at all at the moment.
From them, also talking about the past Hammil incident.

No matter what your thoughts are on hammill and ward, the facts are neither were being picked for the first team because CP didn't think they were good enough or consistent to be in the first eleven. So to get rid of large wage earners was an absolute no brainier.

We dont need to pay fees, plenty available on frees or loans, its wages we need to cover and by getting rid of these three,so far,it frees up enough to bring someone in

Holt is off the wage bill too, whatever percentage we were paying.

Holt is off the wage bill too, whatever percentage we were paying. If rumours are to believed we were paying half of holts wages,so that would be 15k, add that to the 3 thats left and that's prob somewhere around25k saved, enough for 2,3 players on decent wages... Good business.

I haven't been impressed with the football.......but he's working with mediocre players at this level in some cases,,,,,,and has now shipped out two. Judge him when he's managing his players.......ones he's brought in to add to the quality we undoubtedly have in some positions.

Our biggest target has to be to improve the quality of our signings and I don't mean ward n hamill who did play. Too many in recent years have not come close to being to the required standard... E.g. Stead, Robinson, gobern, Donaldo, Paterson, Carroll, Carr

I hope we're going to sign a wide player because as good as scannell and bunn are on their day, bunn is usually knackered and ineffective second half and we can't take Sean scannells form this season for granted, he could so easily go back to the inconsistent player he was before powell came, and if I'm honest I'm yet to see lolley play a full game this season so can't judge if hes up to this level or not

Reports on Twitter that both of them have joined Rotherham on loan with a view to permanent deals. @paulm_davis: Two new #rufc loan signings. Danny Ward and Adam Hammill, both Huddersfield. @wysdaily: Huddersfield Town duo Danny Ward and Adam Hammill have signed for Rotherham United on loan with a view to permanent deals # (Edited) Shame that, I quite liked both the Danny Ward and Adam Hammill songs...

Evans has said Ward was close to joining Leeds until they snook in.. Didn't they do the same with Becchio on deadline day? Quite amusing that Rotherham is now a better prospect than Leeds.. Oh how the mighty have fallen!
