Might appear all nice on the outside but he really wasn't. Walking PR disaster. Found it hard to have much of an opinion either way on him. What made him so awful? What am I missing? The only thing I can really think of was some high ticket prices, or saying they were price inelastic, which is hardly what he should be saying about fans, but has been proven accurate with the amount we got in for the £10 games. Not everything is ever divulged on an open forum...

Clibbens is good bloke, imo he was doing a very difficult job well, he got slated for everything he did and blamed for everything anybody else did. Good luck to him for the future

Had a couple of friendly exchanges with him on Twitter a couple seasons back and he seemed out of touch with the reality of what fans wanted. I got the impression he was a stats & spreadsheet man (typical accountant) rather than a fans man like Hoyle.

Having met Nigel and being involved in meetings when Dean took over i can categorically state that HTFC would be in a lot more debt and accountable financially on a regular basis if it weren't for Nigel Clibbens.. A bit like Ken Davy the man knew his financial shit and that is what was needed at the time and you don't work for financial powerhouses without being a bit of a bastard and hard faced.. Now HTFC are in a better position and the club are after trying to promote the club in a different light they probably need a forward thinking chief exec with a different outlook on football and entertainment. I think Dean and Nigel know this hence the parting of the ways.

Sounds like he was pushed.
As already mentioned earlier Dean got him in when he needed the mess sorting out and I think every Town fan should be thankful for the steady ground Clibbens has helped lead us to. However, now we're in a stable position where I presume Dean knows what is going on with all the finances it would make sense to bring in a football man who understands fans and the fact a football club isn't your average business to help Dean push the club forwards.
Thanks Nigel for getting us into this position, I'm sure he won't be out of a job for long.

Meh.
Never really understood the massive amount of dislike he seemed to generate among some on here.
All the best Nigel.

I don't know the guy, and he's obviously done a lot of great work for the club, so a huge and sincere thanks for that … yes there's a but. I don't want to character assassinate the guy – as I say I don't know him – but from his media appearances he never struck me as necessarily the best face for the club. That slightly dopey grin. He came across as a bit of a chancer really.

Poor people skills got the sack , created lots of enemies and upset many staff....Jarvis and Hough hate him and he had a do last week with someone heavily involved with first team.....He's done a lot for Town but he' upset too many people

Maybe Roger Burnley to take the role? I'd have thought Asda would be paying him a damn sight more than we can afford but he could have been instrumental in thought process of a change in direction. By the way you're not Roger Burnley are you, what with your user name and it being your first post?

Made a big contribution in getting the club out of a very dark place into a more sustainable one. Fans should be thankful for that contribution.

I have over the years spent a lot of time with Nigel, and had a lot of contact with him. He was always thoroughly generous with his time and his knowledge, and his financial acumen helped drag our club forward. He was trusted by Dean then, and I have no doubt he still is. Yes he could be hard headed and ferocious at times, and I don't think him being the face of HTFC on twitter helped endear him to the masses. Instant messaging should never be the forté of anyone clued up and as involved as he was I liked him, and I know he has spent the last few years doing everything in his power to improve our club. I'm thankful for that. Maybe now the club is more financially secure the requirement of the club's CEO is more footbal-based than business based? Either way I'm sure both parties will prosper.

I always thought Clibbens was an accountant but out his depth when it came to the more media and football parts of the CEO role.
I thought what might happen was that Clibbens was moved into the background as a financial director and we got in somebody who would be able to push us on off the field and be a more positive face of the club. The new man (or woman) needs some experience of the football industry who can really kick us on. With these season ticket prices this is a huge summer for the club and a chance to start a New Era maybe?

I read the article and I don't think you can tell whether he left or was pushed. I think he has done a good job for Town and maybe he just wanted to move into something a little more low profile than a football club. Whatever the reason he left I wish him well.

Bit of skullduggery? (Love that word.) Along with "cockamamy" - never seen that written down before. I wasn't totally convinced of the spelling, so googled it to be accurate. Great word though. Nigel will still be around to watch his son Harry, I'd imagine. Unless he's been barred from the premises! Which I doubt. Good luck to him.

He was pushed Davva Don't care either way to be honest. Maybe he had an issue with the cheap season tickets or something but its all speculation. What I find funny is that people are calling for a "football man" for the new CEO. With all the football clubs getting into financial trouble you would think people would realize by now that is the last thing we need.

Nigel always came across as honest and straight forward in his dealings at Town. He was without doubt Dean's trusted financial aide. More importantly who will now play DATM's Panto villain or scapegoat on the board at Town for everything that is considered poor by the club whilst everything rosy is immediately attributable to DH. I am guessing Ann Hough could be the next target The only thing that I didn't like about Clibbo was his crying of the poor tale, to avoid a driving ban for speeding which he claimed would cause him to lose his role at the club. I didn't know they gave bans for doing 43 in a 30 zone, why he didn't just pay the initial fine like most folk I will never know. www.examiner.co.uk/news/west-yorkshire-news/huddersfield-town-chief-exec-nigel-5007601Thanks for your efforts and good luck Nigel! On another note about junior Clibbo, Harry, he hasn't looked out of place from the highlights of the U18's at all this season.
