I would think he will be going nowhere due to that rule of having one homegrown player on the pitch in a few seasons He's not homegrown

He's got bags of ability so I would keep him for now. He always looks as though he plays 2 gears lower than everyone else though and that's going to have to change if he's going to be able to make it in the prem. if anyone can get the best out of him it's our David. His best game was against Man City. I think the Championship was beneath him, so he should now excel.

Think he'll do well in the Prem. Kind of player that manages to look languid by creating space & time for himself on the ball. Definite keep. His style of play could well be suited to the prem it depends on his attitude how much does he want it and how much is he prepared to push himself?.he has to step up a notch at least been is problem all along.

This lad is a proper player. He was class in those City games. Forget selling him we should be giving him a long term deal.

Bags of ability, don't think I've seen many that can hit a ball as sweet as Billing. Already scored some beauties (Forest away a few years back, Cardiff away this year, & I also think his winner against Reading was hard to execute from that angle and the time he had).
For me, it's all about how much he wants it. I know for a fact at the beginning of last year when he was playing in the 23's, Wagner pulled him to one side in training and had a chat with him about he needs to work harder and really cement his place in the first team, as he was sulking a bit not being a definite starter so wasn't giving it 100% in training. If he has the right attitude he will be a brilliant player.

Would we rather he had a crack at the Prem with us or with someone else? Pretty simple, if he does well I'd rather it be us picking up a £20m sale than West Brom

I would think he will be going nowhere due to that rule of having one homegrown player on the pitch in a few seasons He's not homegrown Every squad of 25 requires at least 8 home grown players. These are trained in England for at least 3 years before they were 21. So Billing is "home-grown". However, he shouldn't be counted in the 25 man squad as he was under 21 on the !st January 2017.

How did we come to sign Billing any how? Not like we have had many other European youth come straight to our academy.
I don't know what goes on in training, but think we forget how young he is and that he left friends and family to move to Huddersfield at 17. Playing time he has been a bit unlucky over the years, the ankle injury against Leeds, a soft red card for his high foot against MK Dons, the latest groin injury. He is getting to the crunch time though were he will find his level. Hopefully it is premier league.

If he has the right attitude he will be a brilliant player. I agree. He could be fantastic, but how much he wants it seems to be a major stumbling block for him/us. He needs to get on the front foot a bit more, be more industrious, slightly more engaged... dare I say, aggressive. My fear is that he perhaps doesn't have it in his make-up to 'switch on' any more than he's already shown us. You can't just force a personality trait on someone if it's totally alien to them. If he were capable of it, he'd have made that mental switch by now... perhaps. On the other hand, progress is a slower process with some than others.... they need more time for the penny to drop. I dunno. He's got bags of ability. I'd love him to show us what he's made of and light up The Premier League.

Mbappe was born in 1998! I know he is exceptional but he is quite a bit younger than Billing. What Billing needs is regular, hard first team football. Difficult to see how he is going to get that at Town. If we had a midfield group of Hogg, Mooy, Williams, Brown, Palmer and Billing he might even struggle to get on the bench. HIs main hope is a couple of stellar early performances so he can't be dropped, otherwise he is going to be scratting around for games. Nice problem to have - difficult one to solve. Maybe a loan to a Championship club on one of those deals like Ward's where he played a certain number of games. That's how Brown and Palmer "made" themselves.

Although he may not have progressed as quickly as some may have liked, he has actually come on leaps and bounds over the last couple of seasons in real terms.
Let's not forget that It's less than 2 years ago that we tried to ship him off to Div.2 Carlisle on loan and they didn't want him! People develop at different rates, both physically and mentally.

This lowering may have already happened.

Mooy would be a good example - released by St Mirren a couple of years ago, but Billings problem is going to be the same as least season - stiff competition!

Don't like to single out any player after the result today but I thought he was tremendous today.
Lots of happy players and staff on the Grand Central home 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️

Your point...in the Billing thread? Thought he was OK in the first half...and shite in the second. Gave it away needlessly twice in dangerous areas that nearly cost us. Nothing for them down the middle...had to help Lowe out a couple of times...barely noticed him. If he becomes a Prem regular great, potential fulfilled...cant see it myself...too lackadaisical on the ball.

He's awesome but drives me mad when he misplaces a 3 yard pass. He's too laid back sometimes

Watched on a stream and the commentators were raving about him. Thought he played excellently first half, good shot, great passes and disrupted palace with the foot in whilst some well placed headers. He tired badly near the end. Hopefully with more games under his belt he will excel in the Premier league, still very inexperienced in terms of games played.

Glennon was surprised he stayed on as he thought he was struggling with a knock. Obviously he was just struggling with the pace of the game in the second half. Sounded like he played well in the first half though. Getting 90 minutes in his legs will only do him good.

Billing might look laid back but that's because he's so comfortable on the ball. The lad'll thrive in the Premier League and will there for a long time, hopefully with us.

Agree that his short passing game leaves something to be desired but his tracking back is much improved on last season. Gotta give it to the lad he played well today in a great team performance

As you say will only do him good as he has rarely played a string of competitive 90 minute games together. Hopefully stays injury free and plays well enough to get those games into his legs. I predict he will never play football below the top division.

Played well ignoring it was his Premier League debut.
To call his second half performance as shite is ludicrous, accepting he tailed off a bit, including a couple of loose balls.
Why do people obsess with trying to prove a point. I thought Donald McDermott was going to be brilliant.......

Nidfi d is an area I've worried about the step up, but I think if the 4(williams was very good when he came on today too) stay fit then we'll be a match for s lot of teams in midfield battle.

After all our million pound signings the young lad still makes the starting line up. Keep it up big Phil, player in the making. Wagner sees it. Keep making the mistakes, only way you will learn. Top, top player in the making
