There is definitely a footballer in there but now we're back in the Championship we need fighters and perhaps more importantly team players. Teamwork and a strong bond got us up last time rather than simply ability and I think Billing's head is somewhere else right now, so it's time to sell him for a good price with a decent sell-on and if he does flourish under Eddie Howe then we'll still get a slice of any future income. Who knows we might have a great season and we might pass Bournemouth at the end of the season, now that would be rather sweet. Let's take the money and run. Bournemouth are light years ahead of us man. We won’t be catching them or anyone else of that wealth or squad quality probably ever again. They bought the lad from scouse ripoff transfer fc and he barely even played- £20M on a lad who’s 3rd or 4th choice up front. Different worlds. I wasn't seriously suggesting they will get relegated, I said "who knows we might pass Bournemouth" so lighten up man. However the simple fact is that 3 teams will be relegated this season from the Premier League and so there is a possibility that it might be Bournemouth, and if that were to be the case I would find it particularly sweet that the media darlings with their genius of a manager were heading out of the Premier League, then let's see how big the gulf is between our clubs.

Only idiots or people who know nothing about football don’t accept Billing’s levels of capability and class. There’s one loud clueless idiot on this board who’s ramped up this anti Billing rhetoric because he creates and gets a lot of attention on here. Anyone who knows anything about football or watched us at old Trafford or Burnley or Everton early last year knows what PB can do & what he’s worth. £15M is a bargain. Burnley paid £12M 2 years ago for Jeff Hendrick. Have to agree £15m seems skinny when you look at what Brentford got for players untested in the PL or even a championship promotion race! Looking at transfermarkt Mepham = £12m plus Konsa = £12m Bristol City got £13.5m for Kelly - again never played above the Championship Villa paid £20m for Mings and he has big question marks at top level Billing has shown he can do at PL - was young player of the year - and will get better as he fills out his 6ft 6in frame. Hopefully we get a decent sell on clause I do agree the market is truly screwed. Billing has also shown he can be a cock

I was always an admirer of Billing, the criticism he received was often unjust and wrong. But he let himself down after Wagner left and so it's obvious he needs to leave. I wish him well but if he does come good, it will always be a big regret that after investing so much time and effort into him as a club, we never saw the fruits of our labour. 15 million is a boat load of fruir😊

Billing has the potential, the POTENTIAL, to be the best midfielder to have ever played for Huddersfield Town.
He doesn't have the attitude he needs it seems though. At least not yet. If he gets that when he's 25 or 26 it'll be much too late. Nobody should be denying the ability and talent though. I don't think even Otium denies his natural ability. It's always struck me that he made an early assessment he's too weak to budge from, & though he acknowledges how talented Phil Bill is, he's put all his eggs in the "bad attitude & lazy" basket in order to be proved right.
Billing is going to play at top league level for the rest of his career in my opinion. If he moves, starts the season well and DOES get his head down and DOES begin to fulfill his potential, a CL club would buy him before long. My guess is that he won't ever reach those heights however because he doesn't have the fight he'll need.

£15m plus add ons AND that’s with him devaluing himself due to his comments and publically showing he’s surplus to requirements.. Reading Terrier & Otium.. you’ve gone quiet lads?! Thought he’d go for peanuts.... £15 is a snip for a player who can match the premier leagues best midfielders on his day. With better players around him he’ll be even better. He’s a complete footballer- can pass, head, tackle, run and shoot. Should’ve been a bidding war for him rather than this fire sale. He’s worth £30M at today’s prices all day long. One further thing I'd point to is that he came direct into the Premier League with limited prior experience and became a real force, which is extremely hard to do. He was the best player in the first half of last season and, let's not forget, players' player of the year.

For those knocking billing the facts seem to be that there are two Premier League sides prepared to pay £15m for him - only kongolo and maybe mooy could get a bigger fee in our current squad That clubs see him worth that and want him in the Premier shows that he is a outstanding talent He was ill advised to talk to the press but regardless he’s clearly a talented footballer It’s time for him to move on and personally I’m appreciative of his role in two outstanding seasons ... as well as £15m which will hopefully go a long way to building another successful side Only idiots or people who know nothing about football don’t accept Billing’s levels of capability and class. Don't think anyone is questioning what he can do, it's the fact he appears to not want to do it. Let's not forget he's a professional footballer, and he'll be getting a very nice wage, so shouldn't be be giving 100% every game? His attitude stinks, saw him at the players awards last season, came across very arrogant. Nothing to do with anti billing rhetoric, he just needs to grow up and do what he's paid to do. IMO

I wish the lad well if it goes through but no individual be it chairman board player are supporters are bigger than the club.

Should of been closer to a 25 million fee if He hadn’t been such a petulant clown for the last 6 months! Good luck to Bournemouth. Regardless of His potential, I’ll be glad to see the back of Him!

I think Dean Hoyle spoke about the bad eggs in the dressing room long before Billing started publicly having a go at the manager and the club. And there have been other reports of his shite attitude. The sooner he’s gone, the better.

Spending more doesn’t necessarily imply getting a better player. Siewert clearly prefers youth and developing players so maybe the likes of O’Brien will turn out to be better?

If Dean wasn't ill and was more closely involved with team affairs, I suspect he'd have gone in January and possibly loaned back for the rest of the season. He made it clear he wanted to leave, but for what could've been 30 million plus at the time, there's no way we'd have entertained any kind of negotiations necessary for such a big transfer with DH in the state he was. Just the way it happened I think, I doubt Billing had no suitors in January. Had the circumstances been normal and he left then, there'd probably be no ill will towards him either.

There's some really immature posters on here who are revelling in this pantomime villain persona, so they have an excuse to vent their spleen.
If it's £15m, hopefully there's a decent sell on clause.
