£5.7m for 75 minutes football....? He must be the most expensive player ever for Town... To be fair we've made close to £3m back in loan fees, and at the end of that he'll still have two years left on his contract so he'll still hold some value

We paid £5.7Million. It was widely reported they paid us £800,000 for a 6 month loan (from Jan) last season. I'm guessing it is an increased loan fee as the loan is for the whole season. I've never heard that h was ever difficult or a problem, I honestly just think he is homesick, loves Egypt and wants to work and live in his home country. I imagine we will finally sell him for £2.5-3.5M? something like that with 2 years remaining on the contract

Was this the worst signing in our history? Possibly, but there's so much competition it's difficult to say, and that is truly a damning indictment on our transfer dealings last year. It's not even like anyone thought it was a good signing at the time!
Another of my other big issues was selling Lolley. Absolutely no foresight whatsoever. I could understand loaning him out for the season, but given we were clearly heading back to the Championship, you didn't need to be a genius to see we should have kept him for this year.
I just hope whoever made all these appalling decisions is a long way from the club now.

I don’t see how anyone knew with 100% certainty we were definitely heading back to the Championship in the summer of 2018? Actually, did he go in the summer or mid season?

He went January 2018, so at that point we were questionable on survival, but to say we knew with 100% certainty is a bit of hindsight hyperbole and chest pumping keyboard antics at best. IMO of course.

It WAS mid season, but having checked again, it was in Jan 18, I thought it was Jan 19. Still, should never have sold him given what we eventually replaced him with.

I will assume you are now thoroughly embarrassed and ashamed at your unwarranted accusation that I displayed chest pumping keyboard antics!!

I am now, and with my own hindsight will offer a grovelling apology and applaud your noticing the 'oversight'. Though would say the 'ashamed and unwarranted' part is not quite accurate given what you actually said in the initial post to which I overhastily responded
