This is right up there with selling Marcus Stewart to Ipswich in terms of stupidity. Absolutely crazy. When did VLP suddenly turn in to Arjen Robben? Selling Stewart cost us promotion. Keeping VLP would increase our chances of staying up by about 0.1% given he rarely scores nor creates. He can be good to watch at times but that doesn't mean he contributes much.

He changes the whole dimension of the team. His end ball might be poor but his first instinct is to go forward, he has pace, he is unpredictable and he can actually beat a man. Not one player in the current team has any of those traits. His departure signals that we are stuck with 352 for the foreseeable. I don't recall us dominating any team under 352 like we did when we played 4231 with RVLP on the wing.

VLP is a poor decision maker and isnt effective with the current formation /set up. However if we are to revert to a more balanced set up where we attack and try to win games then he must surely be replaced with better. I hope this happens.
Im still upset about Marcus Stewart😕

This is right up there with selling Marcus Stewart to Ipswich in terms of stupidity. Absolutely crazy. It aint that bad. I was always pro vlp. Always said he was a decent outlet for us in terms of the way we played as a team, as stupid as some of the stuff he could do was. But a good amount of our fans hated him even when he was available to the squad. Last season he was getting some right abuse off some on here. People saying theyd drive him out of the club etc. Like i say i always liked him, but lets not make out as if hes better than he actually is because the rest of our wingers are complete turd.

VLP is not the solution to our current problems.
This board proves he's a player who splits opinion (I'm with Kongolo on this one) & therefore he's not going to win unilateral support as the saviour.
I appreciate where he came from and the fee but if he was something special it would be reflected by something other than warming the bench.
The reality is that we've moved on significantly and I'd struggle to see us in a situation now where selling one of our several assets would have such a material impact as selling Stewart did all those yrs ago...

His post on Instagram is worded like a goodbye, not the 6 month loan it apparently is. His further comments does back up the rumour that he fell out with Wagner and team for the crappy defensive system they’ve been playing. I completely agree with him and don’t blame him at all for wanting to move. http://instagr.am/p/BsEBF23BlPE So, let me get this right - you are saying that part of the reason he is leaving us is because he doesn't like playing in a defensive team. Remind me who manages Middlesbrough?

I’ve said before I’d have had Kavhunga and Van La Parra ahead of any of the summer signings
I still would
Unless we are going to buy ‘better versions’... where have we heard that before those in the know!?
VLP is perfect in a 4231 but doesn’t add anything in a 3511 so losing him suggests either we’re bringing in wide options or have strangely given up on 4231....
Oh he scored 5 goals last season (3 premier league)... as a comparison this season’s undeserved DATM favourite Pritchard has 2 goals in 36 games for the record

Sad to se him go. He could be very frustrating and his final product was often poor, but he could do things that we don;t really have anyone else who can do and IMO hes certainly a level above any of the other wide options who remain.
Something must have really soured his relationship with DW if inferior wide players like Mbenza, Flo, Kachunga and even Quaner are getting game time in front of him. VLP would have been a better option as an out and out striker than Depoitre too IMO.
Down to the club to do what they failed to do in the summer and replace him with better.

I was surprised not to see him against Brighton, because last season he roasted the Brighton right-back.

Remind me where Middlesbrough are in the league? I wasn't talking about league positions, I was talking about style of play. If VLP really doesn't like playing defensive football, it seems a strange decision to go and play for a manager renowned for dull, defensive football. That said, at least he'll get a game at Middlesbrough.

This is right up there with selling Marcus Stewart to Ipswich in terms of stupidity. Absolutely crazy. Hahahah give over. VLP couldn’t hit a barn door with a shovel, not saying I didn’t rate him as a winger but he is in NO WAY the player Stewart was, absolutely no way! It’s not even close to being up there with the Stewart debacle.

This is right up there with selling Marcus Stewart to Ipswich in terms of stupidity. Absolutely crazy. There's been some absolute whoppers for the most stupid post of the last month, this one might have slipped under my radar! But it trumps the absolute lot - the only crazy thing is the bizarre comparison you have made. Stewart was our top scorer playing week in and week out whose sale to a direct divisional rival resulted in their promotion and subsequent European football and genuine speculation for an England call up for the player. We, on the other hand were relegated twice in the next 40 months to end up in the bottom division and also in administration and serious danger of being wound up. RVLP has appeared in 5 of our games this season and has not made the pitch in any of the last 12 matches before his LOAN move. Feel free to return in April 2022 if the above scenario is repeated, in the mean time, can I suggest you take a good long hard look at yourself in the mirror and maybe think before you post in future.
