However much money Phil has or hasn't got, it's undeniably a great thing that the club remains 100% in the hands of fans of the club. Nobody dodgy looking to asset strip, no shadiness or ill repute, and no royal family from a gulf state with a series of human rights violations. I get what you’re saying but just using some of the people on here as an example, just because you’re a town fan doesn’t not make you a git 😉 (not you personally) 😉 As you can tell I’m not Phils biggest fan and some of the things I’ve been told from his tenure as sponsor don’t fill me with confidence but if he does it right he’ll get my backing. Are these things you've heard about him things you'd be able to say on here without getting your source in trouble?

Tonight and this weekend is all about celebrating the fantastic legacy that Dean and his family leave behind.
I can't help feel a degree of sadness at what is clearly the end of an era. I am also pleased he steps down with his health on the mend, this has to be the most important thing.
After the weekend the debate begins about what we should expect and what we should also demand from the club.
Thank you Dean Hoyle for the last 10 years .

View AttachmentMust be backed by/heading up a consortium looking at the business accounts? I've been looking through these as well. Shareholders funds of £-5M doesn't look great. Unless he's won the euromillions recently not really sure how he's finding the £50-80M that dean is said to have wanted. Hope he isn't factoring parachute payments to fund a purchase. Anyway I've said my piece, I'll give Phil my backing of course. And thanks for the memories Dean, you are a credit to club you love. Just reminded me to check my numbers for tonight and..... nothing. But agreed, I’m sure every fan will back him to the hilt

Dean should do a lap of honour, rather than the players he would deserve the recognition and the chance for the fans to show their gratitude to the great man

Dean Hoyle is the reason we made it to the Premier League. Legend. Don't wish to argue, but TBF the contribution of a certain German shouldn't be overlooked. I'm not sure you can pin it down to a single reason. The stars were aligned.

What is worth reading is the statement from Southport, that seems to indicate we’re getting a hands on owner who will be pushing things every single day...doing exactly what Dean has not really been able to do this season. Interesting times...the money situation around backers or not and his capability to directly invest his own funds is largely irrelevant for the next 2 or 3 years, as the allowable shareholder investment under FFP rules is a drop in the ocean compared to the parachutes anyhow. Anyway... southportfc.net/club-statement-boardroom-changes/Southport Football Club can confirm that Director Phil Hodgkinson will be leaving the Club, both as a Director and shareholder, with a view to his taking over as Chairman and Majority shareholder at Huddersfield Town Football Club, once the necessary approvals have been received. Director Ian Kyle said, “It is with a very heavy heart that everyone at Southport Football Club says goodbye to Phil, whilst at the same time wishing him all the very best of luck at Huddersfield. For me personally, I have worked hand in hand with Phil on a daily basis for the last 20 months or so, and enjoyed every minute of it. The texts from Phil usually start at around 7am most days, and this is indicative of the passion and drive that he has had for this Club. When I first met Phil it was by way of a meeting between him and the then Board to try and unite everyone who had the best interests of the Club at heart after a summer of turmoil. I was in no doubt, from the first minute of that meeting, that Phil wanted nothing but the very best for the Club. Since then, he has played a huge part in turning the Club around, both in respect of stability on the pitch, and of course by planning and carrying through the rebuild of the main stand. Our intention on day one was to stabilise a playing staff which was very much like a revolving door, improve performances on the pitch, and give the Club the opportunity to become self-sufficient. Phil has never waivered from this , even when the opportunity of Huddersfield became a reality. We are now preparing for the new season having won both local cups, and for the first time since my arrival, having a core of good players contracted for next season. Off the pitch, the hospitality has had great reviews all season, and we have in excess of 40 events booked in already for the next 12 months. We are clearly much closer to the self-sufficiency target. Clearly all of this has taken much investment, a large proportion of which has come from Phil. Indeed, Phil has, very much in keeping with his character, further agreed that upon leaving he will be responsible for any outstanding creditors, ensuring that the Club moves into next season debt free. People talk about players being an “asset” to a Club. I am in no doubt that Phil will be considered one of the biggest assets that this Club has ever had. I am sure that everyone involved with Southport Football Club will join me in expressing huge gratitude to Phil, and wishing him all the best with his new and very exciting journey with Huddersfield Town. I certainly expect to see Phil and Josh back at Merseyrail Community Stadium on a regular basis. Phil will, prior to the transaction being completed, be selling his shares to myself , Liam Watson, and Steven Porter. I welcome Liam and Steve on to the Board. Both Liam and Steve are Southport FC through and through, and I feel extremely confident moving forward with the two of them as part of a new Board, and excited at the opportunities now lying in front of us. UP THE PORT! UP THE TERRIERS!

Anyone with me on this?

Glad it’s another town fan but biggest question is how much is he worth?? Why is it so important what he's worth? The only future for our club is to be run sustainably so expecting someone to come in and support losses is unrealistic and unhealthy. We have good guarenteed income for next 3 seasons so let's hope we can make it count.

Surely if you love Town as much as (I hope) a chairman would do, you'd rather be watching Town rather than another club. TBF I don't get it.

Thanks dean, I never felt that I'd feel such emotion at a football match that I felt at Wembley. I cried when Chris schindlers penalty went in. A dream fulfilled . It was more than David cowlings goal in the cup, more than bullocks penalty at Brentford, more than Carlisle away to get to Wembley the first time. More than the fourth at bury. More than I had ever dreamed. THANK YOU.

Fair play he was involved at Southport. however me being a Town fan, if i had any sort of fundings like some and substantial enough to plug into a team, i wouldnt do it with any other than the one im a die hard fan of. So thats my question and so is where is the money and backing coming from? If he is on his own, then overall, it dont look great. If there are others then im happy to let it pan out and accept it on Deans trust. Should it go tits up, this bloke wont be watching Town for a while after.....

A goal that Dean Hoyle always stated was for the club to be self sustainable. That just doesn't change. Chill the fuck out.

Words cant describe what this man has done. Not just for the team, but the whole community, Canalside etc. He brought things to a club that was in a shit puddle and peaked with Premier League football. Freedom of the Town, down in history as the best owner of this team by a mile. Through thick and thin, ill health and beyond, Dean, i thank you and i cant say any more. Its a shit day, but i trust you going forward with this. If it goes bad bad, you have enough money to hire a hitman. Thanks Dean
