If he’s here next season he’ll score an absolute hatful. Needs a bit more time on the ball than you get in the EPL...but he’s got a wicked shot on him...when he hits he really hits it, in a way we’ve not seen from a striker in years. Hope all the posters above are eating their words in six months time, you’re all bang out of order. It’s a new season in a new competition...time to forget this season and start again. If Siewert can turn him into a decent goalscoring striker for us, then he should get coach of the season - possibly best coach ever! Well 14 goals on Ligue 1 tells me he IS a decent goal scoring striker. I know it’s a division where traditionally defenders aren’t the best in the air, but it’s not the Sunday league...I think a lot of our fans despite two seasons up there just don’t get how difficult and what a massive step up the Premier League is, and are downright disrespectful to our players contribution and expected future contribution as a result. Its mainly a result of misguided expectation I think. Neymar and Falcao scored 15 this season in much better teams than Montpellier. |

I know it’s a division where traditionally defenders aren’t the best in the air, but it’s not the Sunday league...I think a lot of our fans despite two seasons up there just don’t get how difficult and what a massive step up the Premier League is, and are downright disrespectful to our players contribution and expected future contribution as a result. Its mainly a result of misguided expectation I think. The vast majority of our players weren’t good enough Accepted. No problem Then some were literally lazy awful waste of shirts. Mounie sits well and truly in the second bracket. |

And yet he’s turned to rat shit as well The lack of form of Mounie and Depoitre was a major reason we went down. They contributed a lot of valuable goals last season, and scored two between them this time around. Its hard for any team when your main goal scorers can't score goals. It's doubly hard for a team like Town who struggle to score at the best of times. They were both pretty clinical in 2017-18, scoring a good percentage of the small number of chances they got. This season they were the opposite - missed almost every chance they got. And they probably had better chances this season. Depoitre was one of my favourite players last season, but became an utter waste of a shirt. Whether that was lack of fitness, lack of application, or just shit form, I don't know. Perhaps a combination of all three. Mounie has contributed more than LDP this season, but not much more. We have seen he can play, and can finish, but he doesn't look like a natural striker to me. His movement, anticipation, and general desire to regularly get in goal scoring positions can be poor. We often didn't help him with our build up play, but I think there was fault on both sides. His poor finishing this season is down to one person though - him. I would expect him to be more effective in the Championship, but he needs to improve in a few areas to become a regular goal scorer. We also need to find a formation/tactics to get the best out of him because he's been a passenger in far too many games for us. |
