Started and then suspended i was told. Dont want to say i told you so but posted 3 or 4 times on here that it was a silly white elephant and should be considered only after staying up a second season. £20 mill on pitches and gyms does not cut the mustard when you are in league 2....especially when a striker was the priority.

Doing some pitches and groundwork for building/facilities. But, the main building work has been mothballed I'm afraid.

That was the whole point wasn't it? E stayed up, so effectively committed the 3rd year parachute payment to a facility that will help sell the club to better players and help develop players for years to come. If we spent that on a striker, he could break his leg the week after (or "do a Depoitre")

think it's a massive shame if the new training ground doesnt happen.
for all the talk about the PL setting us up for years, it seems we've no new training ground nor a pot for where to piss next season.......another bizarre decision in a season of many
id have taken a new training ground over a 20m striker who might end up shite and wanting out after 12 months all day long

Not according to Wagner or the players, and their opinions matter a lot more than yours, which doesn't matter at all.

As I pass on the train to work there appears to be work going on on the academy pitches. I also noticed whilst taking a constitutional on the canal towpath that work had begun on some new pitches, is this the mothballed work?

Yes, yes...they need privacy, ice baths, a massage daily. Lillis, Kindon, Boothy would knock the darlings on their arse. Town have 10 new apprentices ...so to speak...none will have ever made a bed...or make it as footballers. Hardship builds character....not private facilities. p.s Wagner has done bugger all yet. pps Which players are you quoting number 2?

If you think the facilities are good enough you are either deluded, short of facts or full of shit. I, as an amateur squash player & runner who at 65 do those for fun, use the same specialist sports doctor as Town. He goes to provide treatment & takes his equipment with him because they do not have it. Further, he was asked if they could borrow an item to continue treatment in his absence, but said he needed it Monday morning for patients at his practice, that could have been me. He told me this 6ft 4in German in his Smart car returned it to him at home in Pately Bridge on Sunday & he continued his treatment in Germany. We all know who that is, MH! If you were a professional sports person would you find that a little inadequate?

Where do you think any young footballers are coming from then? Town's approach is pretty unremarkable and run of the mill these days like it or not. I don't necessarily disagree with the underlying point though, they should be given at least a taste of the real world to make them appreciate what they've got.

I can assure you Town's facilities are no where near good enough not even for the Championship considering.
Over a year ago I did a lot of work at Canalside and with Town and considering this was a premier league club at this point some of the facilities were borderline Sunday League.
Once you get through the main entrance and through the players doors there are cheap wooden walkways which when wet is a broken ankle waiting to happen.
Some changing rooms were simply mobile metal huts with numbers on.
The new building at the back was flung up to make it a bit more 'premier league' but the club is crying out for some investment into the facilities not only for the present but for the future also.
It would be a really shame if the progressed has been 'shelved' if what other posters are saying is true.

We had 24 players out on loan at lower league and semi pro and amateur clubs...pretty sure plenty of them will have got some kind of idea of what the real world is and how lucky they’ve been so far to end up employed by Town. www.htafc.com/news/2019/april/loan-watch-first-team-experience-for-town-players/

Thing is positive just lately there is so much negativity with some posters regarding the new training complex as they look at it as money that should have been spent on a striker, when in real terms it was always money set aside from Dean Hoyle as a separate issue. Our run of Results in December always made sure no big signing would have been made in January, yet still some don’t get it. I don’t have any info regarding the new complex at canalside, but I don’t see why it would make any sense to not complete the project as It will remain Dean Hoyle’s anyway, until later in the future and will be a big benefit in attracting players also!

I know it was a shocking season but for them to relegate us to league 2 is abit harsh! I was talking to a mate of mine who is in groundworks not 2 weeks ago & he said he's contracted over the next 2 years at canalside. Unless he's down there taking part in a thumb twiddling world record attempt I don't think the upgrades have been shelved & he's not a bullshitter.

Where have I said it is not right? You are correct it is DeannHoyles baby, and separate from the club spend. But some on here don’t think it is right spending on the training ground. I see it as nothing but a good investment and one that will help attract players and also worth the money to be used for many years to come not like spending on one player who decides he wants away and does not give a toss!

I understand that the Canalside development has just been delayed until next summer.
This allows the development of the public services relocating to LRPF to happen without impeding the operations & development at Canalside.
