I'd known he was very ill for a while as I expect others on here did but thought it best not to post anything until something 'official' came out. I knew David through my brother who were mates from childhood and he took the time out to come to my dad's funeral less than 3 years ago. Lovely bloke and town through and through and it was touching to hear that DH, SJ and Boothy had visited him in hospital. He will be greatly missed. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Met him a couple of times at away games when I was still in school. From then on whenever you saw town, chances are you would see him. Happy, friendly bloke and a big loss.

Absolutely terrible news. Only met him on a couple of occasions but he always came over as a top and friendly bloke..Rest in peace.

Terrible news, have seen him at so many games down the years and chatted to him at Liverpool last season. A proper Town fan in every sense. Best wishes to all his family and friends.

I did a lot of away games in the Lee Clark era, especially the 09/10 season and remember seeing Scoffa at lots of them. A great character and top bloke, glad you got to see Town in the Premier League, RIP David.

I'd seen a post from SJ that a town fan called scoffer was very ill and feared it would be our scoffer, so very sad to hear yet more bad news about the passing of another devoted and evidently well thought of Town fan. I didn't know him, but knew his face well. I'm sure the club will do something to commemorate him. We'll keep supporting the club for him. All the best scoffer, sleep well mate. X

Didn't know him but was an excellent poster and I have heard plenty about his support for town. Obviously a very well liked bloke who is hugely respected. A sad loss.

Didn't know him personally, but I have spoken to him a few times and was clearly a great bloke. Always saw him at home games in the Kilner and more recently in the Cowshed.
A true fan, gone but not forgotten. RIP x

It is a measure of the love and respect that we had for him, that there are tributes all over Social Media this morning. The term Legend is often used when not deserved but in Scoffers case, believe me it is well merited. I know that Dave will be looking down on us next season and beyond and we will be forever remembering him. R.I.P Scoffer
