The bottom line is: the club is trending. Globally. The Twitter video was viewed by ~28k people in one hour. HTAFCs post announcing the very same was liked by 178 and retweeted 50 times in the same time frame. If it is perceived as embarrassing, then it could be said that it is as embarrassing for them as it is us. Fucking relax. Don't take it too seriously. Take it for what it is; a self-effacing (a sport of most Yorkshire-folk), low-key yet successful PR exercise that will land on the phones of nearly every sporting punter (one way or another) in the country and be talked about. I've already had two messages form lads I haven't spoken to in over six months. It could be far, far worse. Exactly what is wrong with this country right now, any attention is good. Even negative attention. |

Doesn’t bother me in the slightest. It doesn’t tell the world anything that they already don’t know. Yes we are not cool in comparison to others and yes we are never fancied by any media outlet, and quite often totally ignored. But here they are sponsoring us. The highest profile sponsor we have had (In this country. I understand OPE is big in China) since Panasonic?
You’ve got to laugh at yourself sometimes. Jeez, seeing the funny side of how bad we were last season along with my anti depressants kept me out of a very dark place indeed!

I’m old or just sensitive or does this video sum up perfectly what is wrong with the modern football/social media world? How disrespectful is that? I’m all for a joke but I got sick to the back teeth of us being ridiculed in the premier league at the expense of a club (yes man city I’m looking at you) that are famous for being rich!!! And now it continues into the championship. I hope this is shown to the manager and players!!!! And it's the youth of today who are referred to as the snowflake generation 😆 Ps, not saying you've ever said that, it was just an appropriate age-related post to comment on |

Honestly, a single piece of satire has caused more genuine concern than two years of sponsorship by a Chinese betting company that we know fuck-all about (try and google them) and couldn't even be arsed to tweet about us. |

Bottom line is we have been struggling for a sponsor and paddy power are now paying us .. must have been a tough decision to get involved with a club whose last 12 months have been so awful. Let's just welcome them on board and see where it takes us surely? |

What about OPE and Casino Red? Were you happy with the fundamentals of Rekoderlig? Happy with the money from Pure Legal, the ambulance chasers? 100% of companies sponsor something because they want to raise the profile of their business. It is entirely selfish on their behalf. This isn't new! It happened with OPE. It happened with Panosonic. It even happened with Mirfield Tyres believe it or not. It happened with every single sponsor we have ever had. We don't have the means to forego sponsorship and take a moral, ethical stand - we're not Barcelona. I don't find most 'bantz' funny either, but a fucking lot of football fans do. I agree to some degree and I don't like a lot of things in modern football, but if this is what we have to do to compete and survive, so be it. Especially if it means we don't have to settle for foreign ownership to whom we sell every asset just to beat FFP. Just imagine the meltdown if we couldn't spend this or that because we morally objected to sponsorship... |
