This is just for a bit of fun. I am interested to know who people rate as their favourite striker to have ever played for Town. They don't necessarily have to be the best you have seen, I am more interested in your favourite. For me personally I loved watching Rocket Ronnie Jepson back in the 90's.

Haven’t we done this before? For the record, I’m old enough and lucky enough to have watched Frank Worthington.

Iwan Roberts wasn't too shabby. Gutted when he was sold, and Ronnie Jepson brought in to replace him... didn't turn out too bad in the end though!

Of the ones that I've seen...
1. Frank Worthington 2. Duncan Shearer 3. Craig Maskell 4. Marcus Stewart 5. Jordan Rhodes
However, going back through the years, these have all been bettered by such as George "Bomber" Brown, Dave Mangnall, and a few more besides, not least of whom is our very own Boooooothyyyyy!!!

My memories of Frank are hazy but he was top drawer. My favourite was Shearer...he was a beast.

Marcus Stewart.
Even though I was young, he had class and ability I haven’t seen in any other striker at Town since. He was a natural born goal scorer and did it all his career. Top English goalscorer in the PL nonetheless - the fact he never received a call-up for that was ridiculous.
I was also fortunate enough to live next door to him; he was really down to earth, used to have a kick-about with me and the other kids.
Some good players around him though. Lucketti (first time) was my hero. Dean Gorre was magic. Sorry, I digress.
EDIT: one of my fondest seasons was the Rocket Ron an Boothy partnership and one of my fondest moments was during a lull in the game because of an injury: Rocket Ron was stood on the touch line waiting to throw the ball back to free keeper. As he waited, he turned to me, three rows back, and said “Here, lad. Come here and hold this, I’m knackered”. As he gave me the match ball to hold, he then turned to two fat blokes and asked for a bite of his pie. Fat bloke 1 duly obliged. Ron nicked the lot and having retrieved he ball from me, chucked it back to the keeper and jogged off...pie in hand. I’ll never forget that.

It's subjective, but I'm very surprised at the proportion of people picking strikers over Marcus Stewart (post Worthington era).

Appreciate the replies! I understand this may have been done before, I have just joined so apologies. Also I didn't set this as a poll as I don't think I can list all the strikers that we have had at Town.

Stewart for me, not just his ability to put the ball in the net but the intelligence and movement that opened things up for others too.
Young Boothy was something special as well. I mean older Boothy was too, but in a different way.

Think Stewarts probably the best Ive seen. Then Rhodes.
Favourite though, you tend to think of your hero when you were a kid, so maybe Kindon or Shearer. And Boothy of course.

I appreciate its a question defined by age and time, after selecting Frank - I would recommend younger folk google his goal for Bolton against Ipswich to understand what skill and class this man had. Why he played so few games for England is beyond me.....

My favourite not mentioned yet --- Tony Leighton --- you'll have to look in the record books or (like me) be pretty long in the tooth....
Second: Frank - probably the most frustrating and skilful player I have seen in our colours Third: Jordan - 40 goals in a season!!! Fourth: Marcus Fifth: Boothy
Great question - which I probably answered with a different set of names the last time it was raised!!

Before Frank hit his heights, Tony Leighton had been my hero. I remember well his 2 goals against Hull on Boxing Day and the goal against Arsenal that levelled the scores in the League Cup semi-final, - he looked deadly in that face mask!

Tough one this. We've had some decent cult heroes and talismen since I started watching. Craig Maskell, Phil Starbuck, Iwan Roberts, Iain Dunn, Ronnie Jepson, Andy Booth, Peter Ndlovu, Clyde Wijnhard (for a while), Leon Knight, Jon Stead, Pawel Abbott, Jordan Rhodes, James Vaughan, Jermaine Beckford and Nahki Wells. Even Big Steve and Depoitre made memories in the prem. But overall it's for me it's Marcus Stewart. A very clever striker with brilliant timing.
1. Marcus Stewart 2. Andy Booth (mki) 3. Jordan Rhodes

Assuming we revert to playing 4-4-2, would a front two of Worthington and Stewart be the best combination??
