Such a tough one to call tomorrow evening, anything could happen. Great isn't it? Certainly better than going down there knowing we're going to lose

I have a nervous anticipation about tomorrow. Mainly revolving around wondering if the fat smelly bloke who sat next to me all last season renewed for this year.

Then it's one game and we have 45 left. I think I'm right in thinking Norwich lost 3 out of their first 5 .. and Bolton won 2-3 in the same period It beats very little relevance as how the season will go. I remember losing at home to York who won there first 3 games and were top. They went down that season and disappeared off the football map soon after. I do think though, after last season the team do get out of the losing habit. I remember that season well , I think York City sold their top striker and things went downhill fast sadly . I think it was the season when the return fixture was played on the Sunday, 0-2 to Town ,

I’m quietly confident for this game and the Season on the whole. We haven’t sold any of our top performers we have bought in some exciting young players, and we have a striker who knows where the back of the net is. The standard in the Championship is nowhere near the level of the Premier league so the lads who struggled last year could well excel this. I’m going to say 2-1 Town tonight and for us to be in fight for the playoffs over the season. UTT

Not sure how I feel about tonight's game. It'll be nice heading down thinking we've got a chance.

I’ve just been on the Derby fans forum, to see what they predict for tonight. It looks like as many who are predicting a Derby win are also predicting a Town win, so they are not so confident. Waghorn seems to be getting the most support to be their goal scorer, by those who think they will score. My opinion, comfortable win for town, we really get at them from the whistle, see Siewert’s attacking style of play, with all players looking up the pitch.

A good start to the season is vital for us, more so than in previous seasons I think. If we can build a bit of early momentum the fans will drive the team onwards and upwards. We really need to have some belief everything has worked out right, and Jan really is the man. Can't imagine the doom on here if we lose badly and end up bottom after Monday night. Then it's one game and we have 45 left. I think I'm right in thinking Norwich lost 3 out of their first 5 .. and Bolton won 2-3 in the same period I accept that, I just think with what's happened at the club a bad start to the season would spread doom and gloom like a wildfire..I think a lot of us are feeling a bit brittle and although hoping for the best we're fearing we might not be that good. I'm usually an optimist and I'm optimistic now but I'll feel reassured if we put in some good performances in these first few games to show us that all is well with Town.

I think this'll be an interesting one, but also one where regardless of how it goes there will be a temptation to read too much into it.
Derby are a good side, with a manager who did really bloody well at PSV. On the other hand, it's difficult to know whether they'll hit the ground running or if it'll take time to get his ideas across, and his time at Fenerbahce was not one that he'll want to shout about. Maybe this is a good time to play them. Maybe it's a good time to play us.

We have the players, can we galvanize the spirit and attitude of 3 summers ago, that's the question.

I'm looking forward to a game for the first time in ages. There is a mix of excitement and nerves. I'm still not sure we're at where Jan wants us yet and and still a few questions over a couple of positions. Flo at RB? , is Mooy genuinely in his plans (he hasn't used him totally through preseason), what combination of wingers is going to work. I have feeling today's game is way more important for Jan than normal. I don't think a "scrappy win" will do at all. Good performance and the fans stay on side (think 'Boro with DW) Any lack of cohesion and desire, will be jumped upon though.
That said having spoken to a few, the players are properly "up for this", they can't wait to prove the doubters wrong and put down a marker that they mean business.
Me, I'm on the fence at the moment. This could easily be 4-0 Town if everything clicks. I just hope its not a damp squib. My team would be (but isn't going to be....)
Kamil Bockhorn - Elphick - Schindler - Kongolo Mooy - Hogg - Bacuna Diakaby- Grant - VLP
Subs Coleman, JBrown, RBrown. Koroma, Pritchard, Stankovic, Mbenza

Very confident bunch over on the Derby forum. We're shite and reek of bottom half, talentless squad only any good cos of Wagner, -2 GD, didn't score a goal in the play offs, never deserved to get promoted blah blah fucking blah.
It's like a forum full of Arterriers.

Such a tough one to call tomorrow evening, anything could happen. Great isn't it? Certainly better than going down there knowing we're going to lose Agreed but if we don’t turn up, lose 3-0 having to go to QPR next, this won’t be a pretty place in a few hours time. The crowd will def be up for it though, players should be the same & if things come together, hopefully a decent victory beckons. After sleeping on it, going for 3-1 to Town. UTT

Having done a bit of research into our opponents, here is what we may come up against:
4-3-3
Roos; Bogle, Keogh, Clarke, Malone; Shinnie, Bielik, Dowell; Bennett, Waghorn, Lawrence.
Derby's defence appears to be their strongest asset. In goal, Kelle Roos is a reliable shot-stopper but has issues commanding his defence and being a presence in his area. Town should look to exploit this from set pieces and by getting early crosses in. At full back, Jayden Bogle and Scott Malone are both encouraged to get forward, with the former notching 9 assists last season and earning the Young Player of the Year award. Both have their defensive weaknesses when ran toward, so players like Mbenza and Van la Parra should look to exploit that and win free-kicks in wide areas. In the centre, recently named captain Richard Keogh provides experience and leadership, while Matt Clarke will bring tackling, positional awareness and composure on the ball while on loan from Brighton and is held in high regard. It may be tough to get Grant in the game if the ball is played directly into him.
Derby's midfield has recently been strengthened by the signing of Krystian Bielik from Arsenal and will take up the number 6 role. Graeme Shinnie, signed from Aberdeen, has been used in an advanced midfield role during pre-season, where he has demonstrated his tackling but lacks quality passing. Kieran Dowell will fill the other midfield role, and still has to prove himself in the Champisonip, though is confident in his own ability to bring goals and assists from midfield. As is always the case, winning the midfield battles will be essential and it could get fiesty given what we already know about Hogg and Bacuna.
Derby's front three are arguably the team's weak spot. On the right wing, the explosive Mason Bennett will be looking to add to his three goals and four assists from 38 appearance last season. Kongolo will have to be wary of his quick turn of pace. On the left, Tom Lawrence who is more of a threat in the middle than on the wing, will be looking to get Derby fans back on his side after a frustrating season. Town should not allow him to drift into a central position. Martyn Waghorn should start as the striker due to the injury of fan-favourite Jack Marriott, and was able to score 9 goals in 36 appearances last season. Schindler and Elphick should comfortably be able to keep him out of the game.

Of their defence I'd say Keogh is the one to target. My Derby supporting mate is adamant they will never be promoted while he's in the team.

Nothing to fear for the first time in 24 months nearly... back in a league where anyone can beat anyone.
Lets set the tempo for our season, get at them, play with pace and get the fans up of their seat.
3-1 Town, Grant x2 Pritchard.

Derby’s defence is their strongest asset with Richard Keogh and Scott Malone in it?!
