I want him to succeed but he looks useless.
His win percentage is shocking and I have seen nothing from his tactics that gives me hope. Time to cut our losses and put it down to a cheap gamble not paying off.

Absolutely not one jot of evidence pointing to YOUR so-clled protest performance! Did Elphick make the error on purpose? Did Schindler and Kachunga miss on purpose? If it was a protest performance Grant would surely have missed the penalty! IMO you are talking bollocks re. YOUR clear anti Jan agenda! I have no problem with anyone saying they don't think Jan is up to the job but inventing things like players giving protest performances is just pure fiction and therefore lends no credence to your argument. That's a valid point but can you indicate anyone who has faith in Jan? And three players pulled out of five challenges tonight. That is NOT playing for the manager and is unacceptable. I guess Cowling never played for Buxton then! I have seen Town players pull out of challenges in every game I've ever seen - IMO it is either a player being soft as shit or trying not to get injured - No fan ever wants to see it but it happens in every game by every team. Saying it is solely due to them not playing for the coach is more than a bit of a stretch IMO!

I'm 50/50 if he will be here at end of August.
I had sympathy for him last season. It was an impossible job.
To Jan's credit he always seems confident in himself and I hoped with a decent pre season we could start the season fresh. I was also impressed with his recent comments on Billing, which were gracious and seemed genuine.
But to get past the legacy of last season we need a win or a new manager. If we lose to QPR and league 1 Lincoln. With Fulham and Cardiff next the pressure will be really on.
I hope he is still here as it means we have won some games.

It’s very clear to me that Mooy and Hogg and Schindler are pale imitations of themselves under Jan. The guy is totally uninspiring. Players out of position. Unclear what our strategy is. To play that poorly against opposition who were a massive step down from even an Everton or a Saints was beyond your normal poor performance. There’s more to it than that. Perhaps protest is a poor choice of words but that’s my meaning and I stand by it. I’ll remind you this is the same group of players who voted a player ostracised by the manger as player of the season. That vote was telling as it was as much an anti Jan vote as a pro billing one imo. Edit. I said ‘protest like’ as in so poor as to suggest there’s ulteria motive..or not being behind the manager. [/quote Needless to say I disagree. These are your opinions and I have differing ones. IMO Poor performances are not protest like ones. Do you think every team's poor performance is some sort of protest at the manager or maybe, just maybe it is just that, a poor performance? You state that Jan is a totally uninspiring - it is hardly a proven fact I can dispute and whom to for instance. I honestly think you are looking for things to support/justify your obvious agenda, which is your prerogative but saying they are protest-like IMO is ridiculous! With respect the evidence is there for us all to see and experience. I missed West Ham away where we managed to concede 3 in 5 minutes. Is there any other evidence of Jan’s positive impact? Genuine question. If there are straws of comfort to hold onto for the future then what are they please as I’m all ears? I’ve never been against a manager but I can find nothing other than blind loyalty to back this one up. At least we could defend quite well under Powell

I said/wrote when we appointed jan that it was a dreadful decision. No way could he save us. All that could really happen is that he’d start this season under massive pressure from day one Fans on his back. It’s a chuffing disaster. QPR Saturday is huge For me he has to forget this 4-3-3 formation. Great for Liverpool and citeh but we simply don’t have the quality to play it Derby found it so easy to play out through the flanks Second half once we made changes we were totally lopsided. Only flo and Kacha on the right hand side Only Flo really, Malone knew he could get out the slippers and cigar once Kachunga came on he really is poor sorry to say.

Sure he’s a decent enough fella but just not up to the task. Tonight seemed like more of the same.

I'm all for giving him a chance but would pose the question....
Where is the evidence that things are likely to improve radically?
It's as simple as that really.

If we lose to Lincoln, there's are new management team there. They would have been my choice 6 months ago, and I said so at the time. If we were going to take a gamble, better it be one that had knowledge of the English game at a senior level. We got lucky with Wagner and then some but lightning rarely strikes twice in the same place.

The biggest worry for me is that the management tean had clearly not done any homework on Derby or let the players have any info about Derby - the guy has to go now

We got lucky with Wagner and then some but lightning rarely strikes twice in the same place. Let alone 3 times because Farke emulated Wagner’s success at Norwich. Yep straight appointment of Lincoln’s team could bring that fresh clear approach that could capture the players imaginations. A clear modus operandi and ethos.

The guy has been at the club for quite a while now. He’s not new. In the time he has been here I can honestly say I’ve not seen one thing that gives any cause for optimism.

On reflection I don't think, after last night, he has much time to demonstrate he is up to this job. The big problem last night was that there was no evidence of any progression or noticeable change of tactics.
I reckon he's got August to show what he's about. If I were to make a prediction now I'd say he's unlikely to make the grade.

If we win our next 4 games i will be the first to say well done Jan but I've seen nothing since his arrival to have any confidence to say that will happen. I suspect too that this new found togetherness the club is keen to tell us about between the squad and the manager is paper thin.

Subbing grant for big col was the point I lost faith last night. You’re chasing the game take off a midfielder or Pritchard. Don’t take off the striker!

At the end of last season I didn't think he would last until October.
Somehow over the summer my optimism grew thinking we may have a shot of the playoffs.......20 mins in, that had gone.
Last night showed a whole host of problems, poor game plan and a lack of a plan B?
The season starts at QPR.........

How could it have been more, they scored all their chances, our keeper had one save to make. Nevermind the foul on Bacuna in the build up to a goal and Waghorn being stood offside in front of the keeper for the other That chance and another couple of situations I feared for us. That said I thought they looked a decent championship side and no more. 11 pretty anonymous players whereas I still feel we have several who can give so much more. Alas not under this manager it seems. Lawrance was anonymous? Really?

Decent second goal but we stood off and stood off inviting him to shoot. How many times did we see that last season? Too many to remember. The amount of times Derby gave the call away- felt like more than a host of games in the premier. Sadly we just kept giving it back to them.

I said last season that I'd judge 6 games into the new season. 1 bad game can happen to anyone, but 6 games with a full preseason under his belt is enough time to give an indication of how things are developing. I hope things improve & work out for JS, but for me he's got 5 more chances to give an indication that we're going to be a force.
IMO he should have until the Reading match to turn it around.

I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt because he came to a club in an impossible situation. I do however have a few issues with him.
1. He keeps playing a formation that does not suit the players we have. 2. He plays that formation regardless of the opposition which makes us very predictable. While I think you try to impose your own game there are obvious times when that is not going to work due to a mismatch in players of formation and you have to have the knowledge to change. He does not. 3. He blames the players and never takes any responsibility. 4. He wants three windows. If there was a sign of improvement I could be willing to go with that but there isn't any sign of improvement. No reaction even when he first came.
I said on another thread I would give him no more than 3 more games and would be looking for at least 2 wins out of those 3 to even consider giving him longer.

I won't barrack him I won't scream for his head but I don't think it's going to work out. I haven't for months another armchair expert Interesting that you have a little snidey at me on Monday and on Tuesday write How many clubs would keep a manager who has lost so many games and I don’t accept this theory that he had an impossible task when he was appointed. Last night was an inept showing from a manager who is clearly so far out of his depth he is drowning and taking the club with him.
