I’ve supported Town since the mid 60’s so I’ve seen worse than this, but the present is all that matters and I’m mighty pissed off with the club.
Correction.....I’m mighty pissed off with football in general. I think I’ve fallen out of love with it, and it’s not just because of Town. It’s not a game I care for anymore.
I think.

Yes - the car crash of 1987/8, the last day relegation in 2000. And most particularly, the 2002/3 relation to the bottom division with the very existence of the club in jeopardy. But yeah I am pissed off atm. Actually it's not quite that - due to holidays etc I havent actually seen a game at the stadium this season so am properly disconnected. Need to get the manager identified and work a way of manufacturing a win and see if we can kick on. Happy for now just to climb into mid table and stay there. I think those firmly in the 'all the players are shit' camp are wrong - a manager, who is rivaling Buxton as my favourite, got a tune out of many of them. And he isnt a miracle worker - others can. Managerial appointment completely utterly crucial to get some confidence back.

Back in the 70s, unless you read the examiner, you had no contact with the Club between games, so it was easier to get on with your life. Nowadays, with this forum and other media bombardment the club’s situation is there 24/7 for all to see and discuss, soit is understandable that some folk feel this way.
Have to agree with Epsom though. Even if you were a PL fan, the same top two as last year are already pulling away from the rest. There is little to enthuse about for those who care.

No
Why? Due to the opportunity the Board were too scared and risk averse to take
Our Board’s small minded, negative, pessimistic, unambitious approach in the premier league ruined / bottled the opportunity of a generation
That’s their footballing legacy - 10 years of progression and hard work to get to the premier league and then bottled it. Didn’t give it a go, just hoped for miracles and then got the white flag out. Oh plus a new training ground minus an academy
I say footballing legacy as clearly and unquestionably imo tremendous legacy off the field / in the community

Wasn't around for the seventies but surely the money we have received from the premier league makes this worse?
When you hear stuff like the promotion has changed the club forever I wasn't expecting us to appear to be in a such terrible position both on and off the club.
Feels like we are back to pre Hoyle days

Got to my seat at about 2:30 to watch 15 mins of ‘shooting ‘if that’s what you call it. Massive cheers when vlp eventually scored one. Absolute ram shackled. Young Ryan did well in goals to be fair Then half time ( after a half which was pretty dire ) the subs come out to warm up. Mounie and kacha go and sit of the bench ffs. Bacuna walks over and chats and after a couple of mins they pick up a ball and stand in an approx 10 yards triangle and tap the ball to each other When I ran my daughters girls team at under 10s they did better drills with miles more enthusiasm I travel the length and breadth of the country week in week out but I’m losing patience with this set of idle lazy half arsed set of wankers goes on on training??? It’s pathetic The new manager needs installing ASAP to give him as much time as possible before the next game to try and sort this lot out Rant over.

I’m serious though, I’m more disenchanted now than I’ve ever been with football. Money is a big, big part of it for sure, but I’m getting NO enjoyment out of it. I’m well used to going to non-Town games as a neutral. I’ve done it ever since going to uni in the 70’s. Never the same as seeing Town of course, but I could still enjoy it. Today I went to Wimbledon v Wycombe, 0-0, bored to tears, didn’t applaud once it was so bad, sterile, mundane garbage and a waste of time and money. And I’m feeling that way more and more. Bring on the Ashes and the rugby World Cup. Still proper sports.

Sure, we've been worse than this, but has the club ever fucked up such a golden opportunity as unexpected promotion to the richest league in the world? I don't think so.

It’s not even the results that piss me off, it’s the fucking silence from shysters like Winter. He’s appointed failures and run the club during the period when Dean was ill. I’m pissed off with the players, can point fingers at managers but some of what we see on and off the field isn’t anything to do with managers. The fucking mess is right there in front of us and it’s been like this for a while. And before anyone starts pointing fingers at Phil, town was rotting before he came along.

Yes. In the games following spurs I was fucking livid. We abandoned everything.
Now.... Im just really apathetic towards the whole thing.
I'm still really pissed off that Boones getting a grip of it and actually managing at any level, but I'm getting used to it.

With fear of having my head bitten off. PH will be feeling it more than anyone. The blokes clearly a Town fan, he's had criticism (fair enough) but blamed for things before his time and then he's had rumour and accusation levelled at him which is both unfair but unfounded too.
He has to get the wage bill down. This has to happen but we are going to be stuck or make massive losses on alot of our players. Thats not really his fault either.
It's difficult times to say the least.
We really cannot afford relegation though. That is for certain.

This is definitely the most pissed as I can remember as a fan
There’s been worse times for sure but there were justifiable reasons each time - usually lack of money
That shouldn’t be the case after two years on the gravy train but after the last 18 months the club has got every decision (with the exception of grant) wrong - I can think of about 20 absolutely junk decisions
The position we’re in now is all self inflicted ... which is what makes this really galling

I feel just the same as Epsom Terrier. I have also supported Town since the mid 60,s through thick and thin though at the moment it is one of the very thin times, especially after the last few seasons and because there is no immediate end in sight to the misery. I have also fallen out of love with the game and with Town not least because after last season we were all expecting much better than we have had to endure so far this season.Lets all hope a motivational new manager will go a long way to rescuing our season and keep us in the Championship. I'm not pissed off. I just don't care! Which is a far worse feeling to have, I choose to travel a large number of miles for games not to mention the actual time it takes and at the moment I don't feel like coming to the games. The first half against Reading was brilliant (atmosphere, players attitude etc) I'm not expecting a high level of quality but I want to see the team having a go...especially at home. I read a lot of posts about the players and certain board members not being good enough for the club etc but the reality is we failed with the premier league opportunity - that lies with Hoyle (regardless of his illness) it was his responsibility to have people in who could run the club without him if required. Hoyle WAS a god for what he did to stabilise and build the club but for me he has ruined that over the past 18 months. Did ego come into it with owning a premier league club? Then the excuse of not selling to an international consortium because they would only attend a handful of games, and instead selling to Phil because he's a fan. This to me seems like Hoyle sold to someone who wouldn't progress the club to a higher level and in some ways over shadow his legacy which it now looks like it is having that effect anyway. I know Hoyle loves the club and is a fan etc but aren't we all? And before people start slagging me off about being a prem fan etc, I went to my first game in 1983.
This feels worse than 2003 for the simple reason that at the moment it appears like the club has a whole has given up and the fans are starting to head in that direction which is not a good place to be in. I'm not even sure if a few wins will even make a difference at the moment. The club need to acknowledge that mistakes were made, admit they wasted an opportunity and then try to get the club united and move forward. The lack of local players at the moment is also a concern, we need a few local lads who are in the squad week in week out and performing to make us feel like the club is ours again. I have nothing against foreign players but what is needed right now are a couple of Huddersfield lads who the fans can relate to.

Angry is good, means you care about our club. Apathy is what you want to worry about, and after 17 months without a win that's where most of us are heading.
