I think this is definitely one of the worst times, in my 50 years of supporting Town, because of what we've thrown away. I remember the bad old days of Div 4/Tim Clarke/the match against Chester etc but in those days we had little money and didn't really have the aspirations, expectations or resources that we've had in recent years. To go, in such a very short time, from surviving our first season in the promised land of the Premier league - with money, status, prospects, some decent players etc etc to where we are now - apparently little money (how MUCH have we blown?), some lower division players/weak replacements for our best players, and a whole group of players who are still taking so much out of the club without putting much, if anything, in is dreadful. Additionally we are stuck with these, now proven, failures (look at their stats for scoring/assists etc) and watch them week in week out have no end product/avoid heading/dive/roll around the ground as if shot/ get knackered after 65 minutes/avoid tackling/be disrespectful to the manager and club on social media etc etc and realise that we are stuck with them for the foreseeable future by which time their combined wages will have taken literally £millions more out of the club. I'm not even sure if Mbenza even bothers to pretend he's interested. It's not just the players either - from Wagner's giving up of our identity and then his desertion/our recruitment team's ineptitude/Julian Winter's getting paid a fortune for, at best, a non-performance, Hoyle's losing it for the last two years (for totally understandable reasons), the doubts about the new Chairman's ability/financial strength and bullshit ("we've goals in us", "I've watched Siewert closely", "we're bringing in...") - we seem to have the perfect storm of ineptitude at nearly every level. Of course we're not in the bottom division with crowds of 3/4 thousand, but much more of this and we could be. That's why I'm almost as pissed off as I've ever been in my 50+ years - so much promise and hope destroyed, so many weekly reminders of how bad we are, and about our only hope being we might somehow go against recent years recruitment get a superstar of a new manager. We've fallen a long way before, but not from such a great height of what the stay in the Premier league COULD have provided. To top it all, I live in Burnley and see every week how it SHOULD have been done. This is the best post ever , from the heart and so so true

I’ve been attending matches since 1968 and I have never felt anywhere near this low. I don’t know when I will attend my next match.

Get a fking grip, would be my advice.
The squad isn't that good, but it's good enough to stay up. If PH gets his appointment right, things will soon improve.

I just really can't be arsed any more. .Who the fuck wants to go watch a bunch of players who don't want to be there, get beat every week? We deserve so much more. Absolutely shambolic that we didn't invest in the summer.

Having been a town fan since the 1960's when I went to games with my mum and dad, things have been far worse than this over the years. The sad part to me is that just like last time when we got to promised land of Division One football, lack of belief and lack of spending led to us plummeting down the leagues. Until Mick Buxton arrived it was drivel week in and week out for years with the odd bright spot to raise hopes.
The bright side this time is we have a new manager arriving shortly we have the nucleus of team to build around and we have more money now than we had back then. In short it has been far far worse than this but that’s the life of a small club football supporter in the age of money rules.

Absolutely shambolic that we didn't invest in the summer. It would have been shambolic if we HAD invested. Clearly there are/were major issues to resolve with the coaching teams, scouts, DOF etc. We've bought some right shite (expensive too) in the last few years. We need to start from scratch again, so it was always much more prudent to sit on what money we have, while clearing out uncommitted players,in preparation for rebuilding the team. It'll take time.

We should have started from scratch in the summer not now. Said before all these players should have been moved on during the summer. Jan and Hudson should have been sacked on the spot along with winter and Marsh.
We will rebuild in league one around 30k a week men diakhaby and mbenza.

In all fairness you’re probably not wrong ability wise But you need to be there watching the warm up , seeing what goes on during games. The body language, attitude and effort is all missing It’s going to take some effort to turn this around

So, does that remove my right to have an opinion? No of course not, but surely people that work all week to pay to watch their team capitulate every week have a right to be pissed off? Telling them to get a grip when you're sat in your armchair is a bit silly in my opinion.

The on the field issues are just part of the problem. When you get the chairman going on about us having a £130m squad and you are only expecting us to just avoid relegation then that is some major mismanagement, yet nobody has become accountable for this. Instead they are telling us these shite signings are superstars.

I’ve supported Town since the mid 60’s so I’ve seen worse than this, but the present is all that matters and I’m mighty pissed off with the club. Correction.....I’m mighty pissed off with football in general. I think I’ve fallen out of love with it, and it’s not just because of Town. It’s not a game I care for anymore. I think. Then this week a new manager is appointed, excitement and anticipation will grow and you’ll be buzzing mate ! Got to have shit times to appreciate good times. It’s what separates us from the likes of Man Utd and Chelsea fans. When Schindler scores that penalty it meant so much as we’ve all been through so much. Where we’re at right now is part of this journey. It’ll all be fine.

In my many years of watching Town I have seen much worse. It has still not stopped me supporting ,attending ,hoping etc etc . I feel this period of transition is tough but as Jimmy says we will be okay once the right manager is in place . Just get behind the club and the team and keep supporting .

I agree with your assessment of yesterday but TBF if he has a footballing brain he keeps it well hidden. A decent coach IF he is prepared to listen might make a good (potentially exceptional) player out of him. .....TBF, I'm not holding my breath. PS ...Mbenza is beyond hope. Stealing a wage and has given up even trying to look like he's interested.

If he didn't have a football brain then he wouldn't have pulled that ball back to Grant, he would have just smashed it across the face without looking up. His dinked cross for Campbell was almost perfect too, in fact I'd blame Campbell for sliding in on his knees rather than stretching a leg out

He crossed a ball back at full pace yesterday that most wouldn't have even reached. My footballing brain comment refers more to the poor positions he adopts and his lack of anticipation of where to be and where to go. Surely you can't argue with that.

I think the worst thing about this recent shambles (compared to previous ones i've witnessed) is that it is entirely self inflicted by the 'powers that be' at the club. I felt bad when we sold marcus Stewart and slipped out of the promotion race, and when we went down in 1972...and mulitple other occasions along the way in my near 60 years watching Town...but this one is really annoying because we had a good manager, we'd stayed up against the odds and we were going to be better the season after with some top summer signings...that was what we thought anyway.

Yep agree with that but also looked to be more comfortable in a 442 yesterday. Knew where he should be in attack and defence

What a bunch of snowflakes ---- And; as an oldie (supporter since early 60's) I'm not even sure what that term actually means.....
Those of you who go to games SUPPORT the bloody team - I hope they will return after the break a LOT fitter and capable of defending a winning position - that "Galpharm" groan and the sight of thousands leaving to go home and watch Blue Peter must be really inspirational for those guys that are trying their b*llocks off on the field.
Those who don't go to games obviously (though apparently "entitled" to an opinion) don't actually have a dog in the fight. I'll resist the temptation to make the obvious comment.
Main priority for owner: Get a manager who can get them FIT and; do it quickly. Everything else will follow.

Pretty Bad Then sold all the best players Then bought Alan Gowling from Man u Then when we down to division 4 Comedy program Ripping Yarns Was Based about our decline ( even though they had red scarves on ) Sale of Marcus Stewart Was the icing on the cake for me ! Thought we had learned from our lessons ! but after surviving first season in premier league lack of Ambition i Expected as now come back to Comedy as in the 1970s Not Surprised but dismayed ! least my son saw Premier football & me for half a season !Was it worth it ? My first thoughts @ Wembley where what have you Done !
