We've been to Loughborough this afternoon. Good result for the ladies and progress to the next round of the cup. They had to rely on a great point blank save from the keeper in the dying seconds to preserve the lead - and she definitely needs to work on her Jordan Pickford style falling down to waste time! But - is everything okay at the ladies club? Was that a much-changed team from normal or have so many of the players from last season left? There were so many names on the team sheet that I didn't recognise from last season (although there were more recognisable names on the bench). Also, they didn't seem to have a Physio with them. One was needed twice - one for an injury that resulted in the player going off and the coach just went over to help her off and the second one was for a clash of heads. The Loughborough Physio was on to deal with their player but ours just had to sit for a while and recover herself with no help from the sidelines. A few of the ladies went to Brighouse Town last year, and Katie Nutter retired. This is what happens when they aren’t given enough financial support sadly. Hopefully any prospective new owner pulls the ladies team into the club fold a little more and gives them a leg up, so to speak. Said before I’d happily contribute to sponsoring a player from the DATM rabble/ranks. 🙂 I think a few of us would.

Great to see the Devs deservedly beat Leeds Utd Reserves 2-1 today. It should have been more comfortable but ended up a bit nervy for the last few minutes.

Another enjoyable afternoon watching the girls at Loughborough today.
0-2 win that was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests.
In two exciting developments, they didn't charge admission but they'd opened the Bar!!
Hope nobody thinks I'm being sexist but an incident before half time that could only be described as "handbags".
Twice a Loughborough player was pushed to the ground (although TBF the second time the contact was so minimal she'll endure much worse contact on a trip to Tescos). Two bookings and a shouting match between the benches.
In the aftermath a Loughborough player was shouting aggressively to the bench "what did you say" & Laura Elford clearly told her "She Called you a Tit" (& TBF she was accurately described).
Doubt I'd argue with LE.
Wish I could get home from the Mac in less than half an hour.

06-11-2022... FA Women’s League (Northern Premier Division)
Loughborough Lightening Women 0 v Huddersfield Town Women 2 (Ibbiston 30’ Mallin 53’)
So Lightning does strike twice and Town Women score two goals in two weeks away to Loughborough !
A decent win for the Ladies and they are out on their own in a reasonable fourth place in the League...
A little bit of good news to cheer me up after the passing away of ma uncle on Thursday night which will mean one day less at Huddersfield for me next weekend so a big thanks to the HTAFC Women for a result that brightens up this Sunday for me a little !

He was a Captain in the merchant navy and a commodore and he was ma late dad’s (also a Captain) brother but they were like chalk n’ cheese - Calum was more reserved and drank only very much in moderation whereas daddy - well let’s just say he enjoyed life to the full ! He wasn’t into footy but did comment that my Huddersfield Town tops looked smart when we met at the shop - and while we have to be thankful for a good life that result for HTAFC Women was a nice bit of cheer yesterday !

If that's true it's a joke. Postponing an actual game to save the pitch for a training session? Train somewhere else. Just goes to show it ain't just Town that behave shitly towards their female equivalents.

I’ll need to get back a day earlier than planned from Huddersfield (leaving on the Sunday morning now instead of the Monday) that I’d planned for the Swansea match but needs must... I suppose the old Liver will appreciate the extra days rest !

The women are at home in the 2nd round of the FA Cup tomorrow against Durham Cestria from the division below. Kick off is 1pm up at Storthes Hall if anyone fancies some live football to keep them going.
I'm not sure why this isn't being pushed more during the current break. Newcastle have already sold 25k for their 2nd round match against Barnsley.

It’s a lovely setting and Town wonen have an enthusiastic and passionate team there and I enjoyed a thoroughly entertaining 0-0 draw v Burnley Women there last April and met Kate Mallin and her parents and she’s a great player and ambassador for HTAFC Women and took time to chat and sign ma programme ! You can take your Lager and Whisky and watch the match enjoying it outside and I used a shed penthouse type roof with felt as the perfect height for ma ‘bar’ - Hopefully I’m typing a good win and plenty goal scoring win for the Ladies tomorrow - I can probably bet ma mortgage on Laura Elford scoring for sure !!!

(Sun) 27-11-2022... FA Women’s Cup (Round 2)
Huddersfield Town Women 3 v Durham Cestira Ladies 0... (Elford 27’ - Sanderson 54’ 81’)
So HTAFC Women progress into the next round with a routine goal from their prolific scorer Laura ‘Elf’ Elford and a double from Britt Sanderson and could even afford to have a late penalty saved by the visiting goalkeeper -
Some interesting and unusual names in today’s fixture card - Chedele Town STINGERS... Coventry SPINXH... London SEAWARD (Is Jan the manager - maybe about his level ! )... Sporting Kasha and Wem Town (these two sound foreign)... Hashtag United... (sounds like an office / computer team or marrow anna smokers) !!!
But well done to Town Women on reaching the next round ! 🍷👍
