Why isn't it practical? And its a damned site better result for those who have lost out than just voiding this season. Damned sight better result for who? You really think I'd buy a SC if I knew we were starting off with a 14 point handicap on the play off positions? Are you actually mental? I don;t know you so maybe i am if Id suggest you would. Personally ive never bought a season card for the expectation we'd go up. Its just because i like football and to support my team. You acknowledged it would be extremely unfair on those who would/might have gone up if this season is voided. Merging the 2 seasons together is a damned sight better result for them. I take the point about a club like us starting a 'new' season ( or the 2nd half of one in effect ) way off the promotion places but Im not thinking of any like or dislike of any particular club, just what i think would be the fairest way forward.

Will probably depend on how far the virus will be contained up to then, but it looks like the German Football League is entertaining the idea of playing out the rest of the season behind closed doors. Difficult to say, of course, whether it will feasible when the beginning of April comes, but the idea is pragmatic and could provide a solution to stave off clubs from financial ruin: www.goal.com/en/news/playing-behind-closed-doors-is-only-way-for-bundesliga-clubs/1v6m6t9e18v0y1iorwl95zr41lProbably been mentioned earlier in the thread, and it's still a bit too early to say, but I wonder if it's an option in England? Hope so, it would mean things were on the way to being under control. I'd take that atm. but it's not just the fans is it, players, managers, coaches etc could be struck down, the officials could be...It only takes one player to be infected and the rest are quarantined for 2 weeks or more..playing in .empty stadiums won't solve that.. Can you imagine Leeds with 6 players missing having to play out the season, and missing out again...? there's no solution that doesn't just provide additional problems.. It's a no win situation but sadly the best way to avoid more controversy is to simply write this season off.

Would now be a good time to ask how season ticket sales are going after a record first week??!

This virus clearly isn't going to go away quickly. I could see a situation where football is wiped out for the rest of the year, in which case the answer is simple. Restart in 12 months time and finish off the current season then. In other words we abandon season 20/21.

I'd go watch us in the tenth tier of the pyramid if that's where we were...as long as it was a fair competition. I adore test match cricket, but I wouldn't fork out for Ashes tickets if Australia were given a 100 run lead.

Yes, we have a crisis here, no mistake.

In 12 months time clubs aren't going to have the same rosters of players as many contracts will end in June. If it isn't all completed by 30th June then surely the league has to be declared as finished.

All competitions have to have been abandoned. I don't know why the PL and FL have not come out and stated that this season is written off (with a quarter of the season to go).

World Cup is in winter 2022 My mistake, I'd read elsewhere that it was being played in Nov/Dec 2021 but its year later.

Its worth noting that UEFA are hoping to play the EURO 20 Play offs at the start of June subject to all the advice available nearer the time. That would mean if any League did resume players would have to be released for these games and further complicating the remainder of this season

Just read on the BBC site that the Championship clubs have unanimously agreed that they should try to complete this season, and the 47 clubs in L1 and L2 say similar, as it would otherwise cost them £50m. Surely, if that is true then it would still be the case if games were played behind closed doors?

No relegation from the premier league so no slots for Championship teams to be promoted into. Could be interesting. Honestly though I can't see how they can get it finished. This is going to take a couple of months not weeks.

So what would happen if a Championship club went out of business? How can the fixture list get round that?

So what would happen if a Championship club went out of business? How can the fixture list get round that? I can’t see any Championship club going out of business anytime soon, but L1 or L2 could be a different matter, in fact I think Macclesfield Town will go sooner rather than later. FWIW, I personally think there’s no chance of this season being completed despite what the Championship club are unanimously saying or hoping for.

I knew it, there will be a raft of legal cases over any cancellation of the season. The FA and the EFL will be trying to build water tight cases as we speak.

Much as I would normally revel in any Leeds fuck up, I would love the season to be played out and Leeds go up as champions, if this whole shit show would go away and we could return to normal. The time for laughing at other clubs misfortunes has passed.

The theory is based on traffic lighting of social engagement over time to control the demand on health services. You practice social distancing to slow down the spread as the NHS starts to struggle to cope, and ease back and party when recoveries catch up and reduce the health sector pressure. It could be a lot of fun.

Glastonbury gone, Euros gone, Olympics on the verge of going which is almost entirely in August, basically every notable event for the next 5 months in the bin...but championship teams have committed to finishing the season by June 30th?

I don't know if that lad's on here but I found this is on Twitter. Maybe we could come up with a few more using old players names
