Much as I would normally revel in any Leeds fuck up, I would love the season to be played out and Leeds go up as champions, if this whole shit show would go away and we could return to normal. The time for laughing at other clubs misfortunes has passed. I'd would tend to agree with you, but as far as L666s is concerned, no...I want to laugh at their misfortune because they are a set of ignorant, arrogant nobheads...nobody likes L666s...I can't pretend I don't want them to suffer..

Is there anyone who wouldn't? Unfortunately Coronavirus is not going to go away whatever happens to Leeds. So any speculation /preferences regarding football has to be based on accepting that fact.

The Premier League want L..ds up.
Unless the league can be completed it ain't going to happen is it?
Maybe they should have a mini tournament of top 6 clubs? Top two go up.
(just to watch L..ds f..k up again)

Whatever happens the FA and the EFL will have to agree on which route they are following.

It's pretty clear that the US Government expects this to take at least two months to work our way through it. That puts us to the middle of May.
Assuming they are right and the UK follows a similar pattern I Don't see how they can play games at that point. They will either have to abandon this season or finish it and abandon the next.

Whatever happens the FA and the EFL will have to agree on which route they are following. given the will to complete the season I have no doubt that even if it goes to the end of june it will be done but to be honest in the big scheme of things it really doesn't matter. health comes first andi have no problem if it is not completed.there is to much I'm alright screw the others and football is one of the main culpprits. I wish everyone all the best and hope we all come through this with our health intact. Nowt else matters

If things have calmed down then two games a week starting in June or July shouldn't be a problem, followed by a couple of weeks off prior to the start of the new season. Scrap all friendly internationals next season together with the Nations League and we might have a chance of normality.

So what about all those players out of contract and loans expiring June 30th?
Just cancel the season now

Scrap all friendly internationals next season together with the Nations League and we might have a chance of normality. Actually, playing the remaining games prior to next season, and basically being able to use these rather than playing in international tournements or friendlies might be an idea..except..playing competetive games prior to the season, (especially so many critical games for a lot of clubs, ) , rather than friendlies where new players are introduced and new tactics tested, might meet resistance. The PL and EFL have extended the closure to the end of April now, and we still have the FA Cup and European games unless these tournaments are cancelled.. The FA have extended the league 'cut off' date from 1st June though to give room for games. But, there is the new season fixture list to be processed and published and organised, including Sky/BT/Armazon etc picking their games and re-scheduling them...They might just fit games in, but my feeling is that the end of April date will be further extended, and that may then force them to give up on trying to finish the season off...and just start the new season in the first week of August again....and even that isn't certain.

So what about all those players out of contract and loans expiring June 30th? Just cancel the season now If the season restarts 1st of May, or even the middle of May, the regular season fixtures AND play offs could easily complete before end of June. If there’s a further delay into May then the play offs would become a challenge...but I guess there are ways round that that they’ve got the next month to plan and agree on.

Players extending their contracts by a couple of months (they won't be able to play for anybody else until a conclusion is reached), extending the transfer window, have a very short pre-season etc.... Where there's a will there's a way.

T%he greedy league suggest promoting 2 clubs Not on just finish season & restart afresh - gives clubs time to get players fit - can always get money in by playing friendlies against lower league clubs - will also help them.

If they can start May 1st I think there would be time. 9 games left in the championship so that's basically 2 a week and you are done in early June.
However realistically it won't resume May 1st. It may resume June 1st if things go well which means games go into July not even including play offs.
I think things may look better by May 1 but not good enough to start having people meet in large crowds or even having teams travel around and potentially spread the virus.

A lot more games left for the likes of Man Utd and Man City though. If both reach European and FA Cup finals, that's another 18/19 games those 2 have to play. That's a minimum of 10 weeks to sort their season out, even with playing twice a week.

I know of at least one contractor who would normally be expecting to get renewed next week is now out on his arse and most employers who did have roles aren’t even interviewing at the moment. There’ll be plenty like him on 31st March for year end. Football will be same end of June.

Some of the PL Chairmen suggesting they have a 22 team league - no self interest there eh...
But in doing so, saying to the EFL that they can promote 2 teams.
There will be some right skulduggery going on with clubs just now, the majority with the sole intention of self interest.
I wonder how Town fans would feel if this had happened a season earlier and we were rooted to the bottom?

couple of colleagues who are lxxds fans now changing their tune thinking that if the season ended now and lxxds and wba were given automatic this would be a real anticlimax to their season and they would be given plenty of abuse for not ‘winning’ promotion

Does it really matter though? Whatever the decision and outcome it will be pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
It's a game of football, but people die or have their lives turned inside out by the economic turmoil.
At some point some will say it matters but it won't really.

I know they've possibly done enough to justify it but there are still enough games left for the wheels to fall off so to speak.
