Shame.
Will go down as one of the best people to serve the club in it's recent history.

Leicester cricket club? Sounds like a backward step Leaving to be Chief Executive though, so probably an upward step, and he's from from that neck of the woods i believe. All the best SMJ

Good luck to him. Went massively above and beyond when Dean was ill, while well paid folk did the square root of fuck all. Cricket in the short form is on the up still, money to be made, and there's more sun down there.

Strange role. Leicester are a very lowly county club. There is a huge divide between the Test hosting counties and the rest. Add the Hundred concept being regional not county based and id have thought the odds on ‘achieving’ anything are very small.
Good luck to him though, I’m sure it will be a stepping stone to a larger CEO role.

Plus, he’ll be down to around 150 tweets tops from folk telling him they’ve bought season tickets each year!

Great lad SMJ. I’ve had many a chat with him about all sorts of things. He was a big help to the Southern Terriers when they first got set up and was very happy to join them in informal meetings when he was down in London on business. He also got the son of a mate of mine an internship with Town.
If the cricket season ever gets started this year I’ll look out for if and when Surrey play Leicestershire at the Oval and hope I’ll bump into him for a chat.
He’ll be badly missed at Town. He’s been a great link between the club and it’s supporters. Did a great job.

Brilliant at his job - big loss
A great servant, proactive, thought outside the box, brilliant at engaging with the fans, took us to another couple of levels commercially
Good luck to him

Big loss for the club, in terms of the local connections he has forged and his presence with the fans. All the best in the future.
However, 14 years is along time in one post and new ideas and new life might give the commercial side a boost. Big Phil seems to get recruitment right, so I'm sure we will replace him with someone of good calibre. Will be nice to see sean in with the fans, let's hope he continues to support Town.
Strange time to take up a role in Cricket.... the county scene will be broken after this season. It's not like you can put the season back 3 months like footy can. The games have to be played between April and Sept.... he could be out of a job shortly after he starts.

Just to add to what others have said.... this is a big loss for Town, he's a top bloke who worked tirelessly & to great effect....always had time for a word with fans too.
All the best feller & thanks for what you've done for our club.

I'd happilly buy him a beer!
Always seemed to have the club close to his heart and was passionate.
Doubt we'll fill his shoes with a better guy
