Its no coincidence that he's failed to hold down a regular place under three different managers. The ones he has been kept out by have been consistently great though.

We've wasted a few years of his career. I liked him, but I suspect they'll end up being the best paid years of his career, which I don't think will be bursting with trophy's at the end, so I guess it depends on what you mean by wasted? Don't forget he had a long spell off with injury too.

I'm guessing that we just couldn't afford him anymore. What a shame, never let the team down and will get even better. surely nowhere near one of our highest earners? He'll be on the same contract he was when he first signed surely Yes you'd have thought so. Perhaps I was wrong and he realises that he needs a change of scenery. Another link to the Wagner era broken. He had really high hopes for him.

Hi guys, I‘m from Graz, Austria. We were quite surprised when our club announced the signing. Actually we did very bad this season and usually a player like this is not an everyday transfer for us.
We are quite curious now. Could you please give me some information about him? What are his strengths and his weaknesses? Is there anything we should know about his character? Thanks in advance!

Good luck to the lad. There’s a good player in there but maybe not quite enough steel for the English game.

We've wasted a few years of his career. We paid him well whilst he had an ACL picked up on international duty. We owe him nothing. Not sure why people are so disappointed, he can pick a pass but he gets bullied every time he comes up against a physical centre forward. We need a clear out.

This is bad news. So annoying it's forced me into posting rather than being a voyeur!
Very harshly treated by the Cowleys after taking his chance after Elphick's injury and being dropped for Stearman. OK Stearman had a great debut but has regressed pretty much game by game since.
Is he sticking it out until seasons end or gone now ? Can imagine if he stays and is called upon he may be subconsciously keepin a bit up his sleeve so to speak....
Just what we didn't need.

Thought he was one for the future, you could see him maturing nicely but the injury set him back quite a bit. Whenever he's comes in he's always looked so much more positive than who he has replaced..probably be another Lolley situation, we do all the nursing and developing..lose patience .(Think he started 10 times and was left out for the next game 9 times.)...then watch them fly elsewhere... My main regret is we never saw him given chance of a prolonged spell in the 1st team. Was he out of contract or did we get a fee by the way ?

Elegant centre half who I think will do really well in Austria and probably end up in at a German Bundesliga Side in a couple of years. Lacked the physicality for Championship though and ultimately, no manager here has ever seen him as anything other than a fill-in. Shame as I, like most, think there is a real player in there. We do have a very good ball-playing centre half though who will probably be earmarked for the squad next year: REG.

His contract is up but I think the club had an option for one more year. In these cost cutting times they’ve probably figured it would better to let the lad leave. As he signed the July one month extension it would I presume mean he’ll be here for the remaining 7 games.

Probably not strong enough to be a central defender, but played well for Town in a few roles. Read the game quite well. Writing was on the wall when he was replaced by Stearman in January.

He's excellent on the ball for a centre half. He's played in midfield quite a few times for us and he can spot passes and play them that not many others in our squad can. The problem is he is quite slow. He was never quick but then had a bad knee injury while on international duty which kept him out for 9 months and it seems to have slowed him down even more. Probably be fine alongside a quick partner but unfortunately we've got a set of centre halves who would be outpaced by Andy Booth and Luke Beckett

Disappointed by this
Edmonds-Green is coming through but we can’t have both Stearman & Elphick
I can’t imagine he’s one of our top earners...
If he hadn’t had that horrendous injury he’d be in the premier league no doubt
I can’t blame him though he needs to be playing as first choice regularly at 24

Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to sign stearman and Elphick on 2 year contracts and let Jon go for nothing.
He's a rolls Royce and the other two are classic Fiats.

One of the nice guys in the game. Always made a point of applauding the fans at the end of the game, however bad we've played (and there's been some dross over the last couple of years) and when some other players made straight for the tunnel. Struggled to hold a first team place down. He'd come in, play a few games then be dropped again. Didn't help that he picked up a bad injury whilst on international duty and then, when he was fit to play again, we were a club in free fall. It's a shame to see him go, but I think he needs a fresh start for his own career. Good luck Jon!

He’s a classy player on the ball but his lack of speed and physicality go against him sadly. I wouldn’t have given spearman or elphick 2 yrs either though!!

If this is about money it’s a concern we can’t compete with sturm graz who seemingly play in a 16k capacity ground
If it’s a football decision then it’s another shocker from the club
Good luck to stankovic - a very loyal, honest and patient pro (unlike most of the mercenaries in our dressing room).
IMO there’s a proper player in there and as a centre back I reckon he’ll come into his own in the next few seasons

Never got a fair run of games but he’s a very honest player, never caused any problems and was a excellent professional Showed plenty of potential in several games and is very comfortable passing the ball from the back. He also reads the game well His main weakness in his size and pace, he’s tall but quite skinny. However he’s still young and should fill out a bit. Also I doubt the Austrian league is quite as physical as the English league so that will suit him I think he’ll prove to be a very reliable signing for you and he leaves Huddersfield with his head held high and very much “through the front door”

surely nowhere near one of our highest earners? He'll be on the same contract he was when he first signed surely I’d guess we can’t afford the wage bill in general so will move out whoever we can. Didn’t we have an option of an extra year for him? It seems we didn’t want to take it up. Schindler, Steerman and whoever the other journeyman we signed last summer (I honestly can’t remember his name) is pretty woeful. Unless TK is back in the frame! Yeah it looks like we had an option on his contract and choose not to take it www.htafc.com/news/2016/july/transfer-jon-gorenc-stankovic-signs/Did we have to take this decision now? Simpson last week, Stankovic packing his bags this week Hardly going to help the rest of the squad focus on the crucial next 3 weeks which will define our season

The worry for me is that players with moves away will play well within themselves (if picked) and try to avoid injury making us even weaker and softer than we are now.

Its no coincidence that he's failed to hold down a regular place under three different managers. He came as a young 20yo for the future. Got a major year long injury and came back to a side in the prem, which is a level above where he was. This is his first year as a more experienced pro in the level we signed him for and was harshly dropped for Stearman.

IMO there’s a proper player in there and as a centre back I reckon he’ll come into his own in the next few seasons The shocker was Elphick and Stearman on 2 year deals. Once that happened releasing Stankovic became inevitable. Both will be released at the end of next season at which point we'll probably wish we still had Stankovic. I'd go as far as saying its highly likely every current first team CB at the club wont be here in 12 months time. Poor squad building again. Elphick at 31 hadn't been a key part of anyone's side for a prolonged period of time since Bournemouth in 14/15. Stearman at 32 had spent 18 months as an ever increasing bit part player at Sheffield United and hasn't played 30 league games in a season since 14/15 either. Had we played Schindler and Stankovic all season, despite them not being an ideal pair imo, would we be any worse off? I doubt it, and the upside is we might now have Schindlers replacement in the ranks, ready to be paired with a pacey brute. Were it not for the Jan debacle I feel fairly certain Zanka would have stayed (and tried, unlike TK) - He'd still have likely been earning more than he had been at Copenhagen. At a wage less than Elphick+Stearman. Schindler, Zanka, Stank and a loan is what should have happened.

Schindler being the sexy Alfa that's been hammered a bit mileage wise in the last couple of years or so, still looks good, but the electrics are failing and its falling apart.
