Anyone know if this is immediate or at the end of the season? www.sksturm.at/de/news/kampfmannschaft/2020/premier-league-erfahrung-fuer-sturm/(Google Translate) Jon Gorenc-Stankovic comes from Huddersfield The SK Puntigamer Sturm Graz brings concentrated experience from the mother country of football to Graz. Jon Gorenc-Stankovic signs with the Styrian traditional club until 2023. The central defender was under contract with the championship club Huddersfield Town this season. Gorenc-Stankovic began his football education at NK Domzale before the Slovenian-born man moved to Borussia Dortmund's offspring. The 24-year-old has been fluent in German since joining Borussia. His current club Huddersfield Town became aware of him in the 2016/17 season. With the "Terriers" Gorenc-Stankovic rose in the first season in the Premier League. Overall, the newcomer played eleven games in the top English league, where he scored the winning goal against Manchester City with his Premier League goal. In the second-highest league in England, the 1.90 meter tall defender played in 23 games (1 goal). At the age of 16 he already made his professional debut for the NK Domzale in the Prva Liga in Slovenia. Slovenian team player Managing Director Sport Andreas Schicker "accompanied" Gorenc-Stankovic during his time as a scout: "We have been watching Jon for a long time. He is at the perfect age at 24 and also has experience from a top European league. He is not only one who can help us immediately, but also has great potential and is hungry to develop. ”The defensive man gained further international experience in 29 encounters in various Slovenian youth teams. He is also part of the squad of the Slovenian national team. “Sturm Graz is an absolute traditional club that has already had great success. After a challenging season for the club, I would like to inspire our fans together with the team and celebrate as many victories as possible ", Gorenc-Stankovic is looking forward to his new challenge in the state capital.

What the fuck is going on at the club?
Feel sorry for Stankovic, a rolls Royce of a centre back when he’s on it. Harshly dropped for Stearman (he looked far more comfortable when he came on Sunday) I feel sorry for him given he’s never been given a fair crack of the whip here.
Best of luck Jon in the future I’m sure you’ll be a success.

If he wanted to go- nobody can blame him. He's been unlucky here, made some standout performances at centre half and midfield, but has lost out to inferior players. But that leaves us with 2 centre backs in their mid 30s, another who's really declined in the last year, and another who's only played for us once, at right back. Not a good place to be in.
Incidentally my neighbour is a Sturm Graz fan, they've had a worse restart after lockdown than we have. Just sacked their manager, languishing in mid table. From what I've seen they play pressing based football but are a soft touch, so I guess he'll fit right in.

Yeah feel for Jon, never really had a proper chance here. Would have him in over Stearman at the moment.

Garbage decision to let him go. Not let us down and not given a real chance. Its hard enough watching Town as it is, but to let a quality player leave on a free is bonkers. Having 2nd thoughts of keeping my season card for next season.

Poor that. He would have been a very good player to have next season, whatever division we may be in.

I'm guessing that we just couldn't afford him anymore. What a shame, never let the team down and will get even better.

He'll be on the same contract he was when he first signed surely I’d guess we can’t afford the wage bill in general so will move out whoever we can. Didn’t we have an option of an extra year for him? It seems we didn’t want to take it up. Schindler, Steerman and whoever the other journeyman we signed last summer (I honestly can’t remember his name) is pretty woeful. Unless TK is back in the frame!

Thats disappointing. Think its was incredibly harsh on him when he got dropped back in january. I thought hed been our best player for weeks, then we sign Stearman and straight away Stankovic is back on the bench.
Im not surprised hes looking to leave. Must have thought then that hes not going to hold down a place no matter how he plays.

He'll be on the same contract he was when he first signed surely If he's not going to play then for his sake as well as ours he needs to go. He's 24 and he's played about 50 first team games. Chalobah is 20 and has played more. His contract expires tomorrow and we've got Schindler, Stearman and Elphick all with a further contracted season and next to no hope of being able to offload them without taking a hit. Hopefully he can finally secure some regular football.

Certainly never let us down. Good luck jon

Not sad about this. Good move for him. Yes he was a good ball playing centre half but lacked strength and speed.

It will likely be a financial rather than football decision. We have Schindler, Stearman, Elphick and Edmonds-Green contracted for next season. We will need the money for other positions (RB, Winger, Goalkeeper) I guess.

Will be remembered as yet another player who no one clamoured for to play for nearly 4 years then when we sell him it's a calamity

I'm sad that it came to this - he's been here a long while, it brings to an end yet another experiment about bringing youth players through? Otherwise I agree - he was a good ball playing centre half but did lack strength and speed, he was bullied horribly in some games.

I think we might be having a mass clear out and I'm not talking about churches doing a deep clean following the lifting of some lockdown measures.

Its no coincidence that he's failed to hold down a regular place under three different managers.
