Now that our relationship with China seems to be souring, our plans to sign Wi Wun Wun and How Long Sin may have to wait.

I’ll genuinely look forward to the summer transfer thread. It’s going to be interesting, irrespective of what league we are in. We all need some light relief after this horrible, never-ending season.
Can see at least 10 out, plus the loanees.

I'm guessing that we will be selling Mooy this window.

It is going to be fascinating and very tough in this window. We don't officially know when next season will start, and how. For all the players currently playing there are many more who haven't kicked a ball in months. Pre-Season prep is going to be very fraught. It is the same for everyone but those with a plan or are squad stable are likely to hit the ground running and steal a march on the rest. I, sadly (irrespective of which legaue we are in), can't say that about us.
What was it said a year ago? We need 3 windows....I think we might want to reset that expectation to another 3, at least....
That all said who doesn't love a good rumour? From the genuine to the utterly ridiculous they do provide some entertainment.

Lack of a striking threat has been crippling us too long. Goal scorers always at a premium I know but if we can afford to I'd offload Mounie Campbell and Grant even if we could only afford 2 in for 3 out and had to gamble the 2 in remained injury free. Need hungry players with an eye for goal busting a gut to prove themselves if already proven scorers are beyond our budget.

Prepare for disappointment Hopefully we'll still be in the champ and the Cowleys will be responsible for earmarking players rather than a bunch of clueless muppets with a laptop. I fear the budget will be tiny or non existent unless we can offload some of the shyte. Wingers and strikers must be top of the list and maybe a RB unless we can get Chalobah again. Need a keeper too.

I would be getting rid of as many of this squad + backroom staff (Cowley's excluded) as possible. There's too much of a hangover still from the Premier League relegation and we need the biggest clear-out we've ever had.
After what we've witnessed in the past 2 years, the attribute that I'd be valuing over most when approaching new signings is their character/attitude. The promotion season under Wagner showed what is achievable by assembling a squad of players who weren't necessarily the most talented, but would put their life on the line for the manager and the team. Burnley are the perfect example of having done this sustainably.
I think the Cowley's recognise that and I do trust them to get the right ones in.

I'm guessing that we will be selling Mooy this window. Now that would really would make some fans despise Phil more than they already do. *Huddersfield re-sign Mooy from Brighton* *Huddersfield sell Mooy*

Cowley said during lockdown when we wasn’t playing, they’ve upped the amount of time they can focus on recruitment and specified they were looking at Bundesliga 2 as a good league. He’s just taking a stab based off that. Absolute wrong un.

I think any new signings will have to speak Cockney, or be willing to learn.

I hate to p*ss on your chips lads but... If we couldn't afford to extend Stankovics' contract as a squad player, then we can't afford to get the right players in. More loans, has beens and Herbert Bockhorns I reckon. I really hope I'm proved wrong though.
Our only hope is that shifting the forest-worth of deadwood will free up some funds but frankly pretty much everyone has managed to devalue themselves by a disgusting amount.

He planted the Lee Clark idea in to our subconcious so that we're somewhat ready when be breaks the news that he's returning on the 1st of August with Big Steve Black and Steve Watson Deals already in place to sign Smithies, Ward, Peltier, Rhodes, Roberts and Pilkington

I think the majority of the Championship will be in the same boat re players as things stand. The only way to secure Stankovic would be to trigger the option on the same terms as present - not knowing what income would be coming in and then added to not knowing what division we would be in meant that was a no go. The lad clearly had the offer from elsewhere so took it. Plenty of teams won’t have the budget they did or were planning for and will be reassessing. There will be 1,000s of players available, either out of contract or clubs allowing them to move to re finance. Simply, it’s too uncertain to secure players on existing contracts - added to that, there will be better value elsewhere who haven’t been used to losing for 3 years!

With the number of quality out of contract players both domestic and abroad, it'll be very interesting to see what the squad looks like come August... Or whenever it starts again. Let's hope we don't repeat the mistakes of the past.

I really did hear some tw#t on IFollow (RL) in between the Just Eat adverts say we should bring Clark back.
