Did you miss the word 'respected'? Respect is earned, as is being called a wanker. Don't give up hope though. Maybe one day you'll be coherent enough to be a cockwomble 👍 brown tongue 👅 Can I be a cockwomble as well ? - in fact promote me to Captain CockWomble - I will die a happy man

The guy was useless at the basics how do explain his many shots that never troubled a keeper. if we need goals VLP is not the answer end of. And yet he's been our only winger that's remotely bothered opponents since Pilks and Jug Ears And he carried out Wagner's instructions to the letter.

Re RVLP - he is better than what we have but he isn't what we actually need.

At this point I'd take BoJo in his charity football days and stick him on the wing as we are desperate. VLP returning would mean we would at least have someone who can take the ball upfield.
His crossing was fucking woeful though.

I think it's getting to the point where we should accept whatever offer WBA has put on the table for Grant. If we end up not selling him then we get nothing in the coffers and we are buggered.
16 million is nothing to sniff at.

Cue debate on VLP: Pros - he has pace and some trickery, good defensively, notoriously good at getting a team 50 yards up the field. Cons: end product is unusual (goals, assists count is low), can be selfish), posts amiguously and teasingly on Instagram.. There done it for you in one post 😁. No need to bother. VLP..took us up 50 yards a few times, held it, held it, held it, came all the way back and played a square ball to an opponent, break they score.. One game he beat the same man 4 times..then lost it.. I'm all for running with the ball and running at opponents but!!!!!!! BUT - bear in mind we have not coached on attacking patterns for over 4 seasons. They have been left to make their own mistakes going forwards rather than drilling in attacking patterns and classrooming constructive play. Kasey Palmer complained about this - and its probably a huge factor in why the potentially exciting progressive players seem to go downhill when they join us. You can only really focus on "building from the back" for so long. The approach is also pretty obvious in how our defenders often get caught in possession - they hold and hold and hold waiting for things to happen ahead of them, and suddenly the game is turned over. Ridiculous really - attacking and defensive systems should be focused and spread from the middle, not the back.

There are loads on players without clubs that would improve our problem areas. There absolutely HAS to be a better keeper than Hamer, better striker than Campbell or better centre mid than Pritchard or Hogg that doesn't have a club.

It's not West Brom that need to play ball.....It's us that need to play ball with them and get the deal done rather than holding out for more money, better payment terms etc etc. We did the same with Kongolo last year. Grant should have been sold 3-4 weeks ago. You’re probably right there, I was just trying to give the club some credit. It won't matter with Grant but with Kongolo anything we owe Monaco is payable as soon as the transfer goes through so if we had an outstanding amount of £8 million(arbitrary amount) and we received £5 million in instalments then we screwed ourselves I'm guessing that why we were playing hardball

We get paid in instalments but surely we pay in instalments too?
People seem to think staggered payments mean we can’t use the fee to invest. It must work both ways?!?
Unless our credit rating resembles Peter Shilton’s.

Unless our credit rating resembles Peter Shilton’s. OK put it a different way, West brom pay us 4million up front for grant with the other 12 in installments 16 in total The following week AC Milan decide they want Grant and are prepared to pay 30 million the likelihood is this is structured over 4 years let's say. So 7.5 million a season, on the face of it this looks like great business, but the minute grant is sold West Brom must Pay us in full so in the short term they've just lost 4.5 million. That's why when it comes to Kongolo is harder to sell due to the outstanding amount owed which we have to pay in full as soon as we sell him

Because they need more players! Their squad is already about 4 times stronger than ours. Half of them don't want to play for Watford.

yes it could you are right but the chairman at the time backtracked and once that happened there was no way back neil was happy just won playoffs and then that happened. It is therefore a fair example of a poor decision by those in charge of the club down the years. i woundnt say the board in this case certainly the chairman backtracked on a agreement with neil so yes it was a massive error of judgment which cost the club a outstanding manager.

Long term we will be in a better financial position, I can see why the club are doing things this way, but they also need to realise that we need bums on seats when we are allowed back in. We need something to excite us. agree that the balance as to be right but at this moment of uncertainty with more lockdownd being announced tody the club is doing the right thing

I could start getting really depressed with the way our transfer dealings seem to be going this year BUT I keep positive because of Maynard's recent post. It's difficult cos I remember thinking that if we don't get someone in by September we'll be in trouble, then if we don't get someone in before Norwich ... then if we don't get someone in before Brentford... and now it's if we don't get someone in before the window closes...The problem is that by the time the window closes the season won't be over, but the shape of our season will be decided. All you can really do as a Town supporter is ignore all these signs and hope for the best - nowadays we have next to NO communication from the club and we seem to be being insulted, as Dugnet wrote. I do NOT expect to be told exactly who we're after/what our plans are BUT I do expect communication to show that we HAVE plans and that our sole aim this season is not just to get through to next season intact. In the absence of any communication from the club about the ONLY thing that sheds light is Maynard's posting. Surely all this can't just be because our Chairman/ex Chairman threw a wobbler at what a few posters said?

Did they try and trademark that as the Misery Circle, but were challenged by some old Wizards and young dudes with packs of playing cards? If it doesn't actually bother you what's happens on the pitch, at the club, to the club, why bother supporting the club and why bother coming on here? You appear not to have anything other than a mild interest in the club and come on here and complain at fans complaining!!! I take it for what it is Art. I don't get stressed by football any more, far more important things going on. Not sure that you have be a fervent moaning git / worried person to be allowed to come and post on here? I just chuckle when I see people getting so in depth about things they have zero control over. I'll now disappear back to the "mildly interested fans" part of the board...

Have I missed something more than that photo? Whilst the picture is indeed in 'our colours', that's not our shirt and he also played for Herenveen and Brighton (I think). I think the clue you're looking for is maybe on his arm.... Premier league ball and if you zoom you can see a little of the 'ope' sponsor Fine - still doesn't mean he's coming here, does it? There's a tatoo of JC on his arm.

Surely all this can't just be because our Chairman/ex Chairman threw a wobbler at what a few posters said? Largely agree with this but I would even go a bit further. I would be ok with being told we are going to hold on to most of the money we receive right now because of the uncertainty of Covid. At least we would know where we stand and it may end up being prudent. Instead people are assuming we sell Grant for 16 million and go out and buy a couple of players at 3 or 4 million each. I just don't see that happening. I think Town will be focused on wages more than anything and being able to pay them whatever happens with fans coming back and other income streams. Our Premier League exit could not have come at a worse time.
